A pretty good joint considering the area, no need to go DT.

Pretty slow for a holiday. normally it's packed during lunch fr the office crowd, according to server.

Ordered the miso ramen, w/ bamboo sprouts, corn, and 3 medium sized pieces of pork.  Good broth, that's the key and the texture of the noodles great.

Also the octopus dumplings were tasty too, along w/ its sauces and benito.

loved the window seating for action, and the centre communal table kinda cool.  Had some japanese TV and music going around in the background.  Not truly authentic, but close enough ;)

Will come back, just bring your cash only ;)

I did not try other ramen noodle shops in Vancouver, BC, so I cannot compare, but Q Go Ramen was really really tasty!!

I had Miso Ramen.  I debated either Shio(simply salt) or Miso, but I like Miso so much so there.  But their soup is tonkotsu base, so to enjoy the soup, I guess Shio is the way to go.

It was for Saturday lunch and other ramen shops were closed.  I appreciated their business on weekend.  Their menu is very simple, but the ramen they make is real.  Not only the soup was fab, but their noodle itself was great, just like in Japan!

I would really wish they open their shop in Portland, OR.  We don't have good ramen shop out here.  I have already recommended this shop to my friends visiting Vancouver!

I don't review much, but reading these bad reviews about Q Go, I feel like I have to stand up for the little guy.

Q Go is easily the best ramen shop in the South Granville / Cambie area. I have stomach issues at Lin's half the time after their excellent lunch specials which may be due to MSG, but I'm stubborn and still go back because they're awesome. But I've never had this issue at Q Go, so that proves unequivocally that there is no MSG here, case closed.

Everyone I have brought here is pleasantly surprised by this little gem. I usually get the #1 Shio, but when I'm REALLY hungry, I'll have the Veggie and add a side of the wonderfully fatty Cha-Shu for an extra meat fix. Try the spicey broths too!

As for the parking complaint, welcome to South Granville. There is actually quite a bit of all day free parking in this area if you don't mind walking 3 blocks.

Two things to know: they are cash only, and the "Vegetarian" option uses your choice of pork or chicken broth. Wuuuhhhhht? Yup, that's right. So ask for the veggie base and they'll happily make it for you fresh, if you don't mind waiting. Lastly, I will say the recent addition of the TV playing bad Asian variety shows on 24/7 (as opposed to the good ones?) definitely hurts the ambience. But the staff is always kind and I often go here on a rainy day by myself, with book in hand.

Ended up here on my latest food hunt.

Wow, parking here sucks.  Everything is metered!  Fortunately there are free spots along Hemlock.

The inside looks like a classic ramen shop, with the wooden chairs, and art pieces (looks like a bunch of logs with Japanese writing scrawled across them) stuck on the walls.  The TV nearby was showing a Hollywood movie. Then I noticed it was wired to a laptop on a stool.  Had a good laugh.

My friend and I ordered a takoyaki.  The toppings were nice and plentiful (I love watching the katsuobushi waving around).  Unfortunately the tayokayi balls themselves were severely undercooked or something.  They looked like half melted balls of butter.  One squished in half when I tried to pick it up.  Avoid this dish.

The Shoyu ramen on the other hand was pretty decent.  While the noodles were not as springy as I would like, they also weren't mushy.  The toppings seemed quite fresh, and the soup wasn't too salty either.

Lastly, while I was finishing up, I heard the yelling of.. Mandarin Chinese from the kitchen.  Well, at least the waitress was Japanese.. I think.  No, I'm pretty sure she was..?  Just something to keep in mind.

Nothing to really write home about.  I had the cheese ramen and it was basically a run of the mill bowl of ramen.  I do believe that there is MSG in their broth as I ended up with a few hives the next day (not as bad as another ramen place I've been to, where I had to take Benadryl when i got home).

It is nice that you get served boiled edamame and a cup of water right after you order, and I would stop here rather than the McD's across the street if I needed a quick meal, but probably wouldn't drive all the way here for a bowl of ramen.

My favorite ramen place! Such good food for such good prices. With the introduction of their mini sizes you can still be full off of $6!

I cannot help but admire this place for several reasons.

This ramen house is one of many new ramen shops that have recently popped up along Broadway street. The house was started by a young  guy in his mid 20s and since their opening sometime in August its been packed during the lunch and dinner rush. In fact I often find myself standing in a line up if I arrive at the wrong time.

Complimentary ice water and perfectly cooked edamame (you'd be surprised how often you'll find edamame overcooked here in Vancouver -- I mean seriously its a steamed soybean...) anyway they'll serve it to you while you're waiting for your order, even if you're doing take out.

Here's an interesting fact. This is one of the few ramen houses in Vancouver that will do take out for you. They'll separate the noodles and the broth and recommend to finish cooking the soup at home.

I really like places that only have a few options on the menu because generally what they do offer they do it extremely well. You may pick from a handful of ramen broths: miso, shio, shoyu, and a vegetable (not vegetarian) that has a light chicken base broth. They also serve a few appetizers such as gyozas. I highly recommend getting all extra toppings for $3 if you have a healthy appetite when it comes to ramen. You have your choice of lean or fatty pork with your order and you may also specially request light, medium, or heavy salt broths and flavouring.

The soup will come exceptionally hot and sadly burned my tongue the first time I ate there despite the server warning me in advance. I read Larry L's 2 star review and thought it odd that he mentioned MSG as it has a very distinct flavour. I didn't recall tasting it in their soup. I went back the other day to ask them if they use it in their soups and they said no.

Soups are about $8 unless you order all the extras which comes to only $11. The place is cozy and everything is well looked after. They have a single large table in the middle that is often taken so coming at the right time if you're with lots of company is a consideration.

It's important to note this place is cash only and I frequently see customers running to the RBC next door.

Dissapointed?  Yes.  But why you ask?
I wrote such good things about Q Go and their cheese ramen.
It just so happened I brought a friend who loves Ramen and is from Japan.
and also writes in her own blog about food.  Mostly about food in Japan.
We both ordered the Cheese ramen, asked what broth is is made with and were told it was made with the Shio flavour.  Right away, she suggested that the Miso flavoured one would be better, but they don't make this dish with the Miso flavoured ramen.  She tried it anyway since I kept raving about it.

We ordered Gyoza, but it wasn't the best. nothing to write home about.

When we got our soups, the anticipation had us both salivating at the thought of the cheese and the chewy noodles and the wonderful broth.
I had lean pork and hers was the regular pork.

So far so good, but then she didn't like her soup.  The noodles were fine, the cheese fine, but the soup was not.

Like I've always said, when you have Ramen, it should bring out an emotion in you.  Like happiness on a rainy day.

The soup for both of us was not hot.  but warm and the cheese had trouble trying to melt.

She couldn't finish her ramen and it was only the second time ever she couldn't finish a bowl of ramen.

I thnk that day the flavours were very off with the broth.  Maybe it was someone else making it.  It definately needed to be hotter.

I hope it was just that one day.  This place deserves to be busier and it hasn't really been as busy in the evenings we've noticed.  And there is alot of competiton.

So please Q Go Ramen.  Make your broth hot and don't use the MSG.  Make the broth with love and all the right ingredients.  Make sure your supplier is giving you fresh bones and meats.

If we hear good things again, we will return.  We want this place to rock.

Another ramen joint. Seems to specialize in tonkotsu style ramen. They have shio, miso and shoyu ramen all made with the tonkotsu broth. They even have vegetarian ramen with a choice of  light chicken broth or a pork broth. Comes with soft boiled egg, black fungus and negi and bamboo shoots.

The staff were friendly and courteous and quite attentive.

Funny, as i'm writing this I'm starting to crave more of the Q Go Ramen!

I actually would give a 4.5 stars, but as we can't I prefer round to the above.

It was a tuesday, my wife had to catch a plane a few hours later to go back to France for Holydays, and we planned to have a lunch at "Lin Chinese Cuisine" (our favorite chinese restaurant in the neighbourgh) before heading to the airport. But it was closed on tuesdays.

So on our way back on Broadway, we discovered a new place we never saw before, "Q GO RAMEN".
I used to go to a terrific ramen place in Paris ("Sapporo", rue Ste Anne), and was so happy a ramen house opened just a few blocks from home.

The room is pretty small, but very cosy. A few tables for 2, a counter for single people, and a big table in the centre that can fit about 10 people, for a group or to share with strangers.

The menu is quite simple : 3 kind of pork ramen (with miso base, salt base or soy sauce base), one rice dish, pork gyozas and some sides.
It immediatly makes me comfortable, I usually trust restaurant that have few items on the menu. Most of the time they do it great !

As they were running out miso base, I had the soy sauce one, and my wife ordered the salt one. We also had a plate of Gyozas (6pc) to share.

Gyozas were excellent, not too big, crispy, with a very well-balanced filling.

Ramen servings were huge ! So differents compared to each other, but equally perfect. The salt is lighter, as the soy sauce is pretty strong.

Service has been very efficient and friendly, and the check very reasonnable : just over $23 including taxes and tips.
They have a fidelity card. Just collect 10 stamps, and you get a free Ramen.

Now I can't wait to go back there (it won't be long as I live just blocks away) and try the miso one, which is usually my favorite !

Swung by this place the other night around 9pm after hitting the gym.
Needed  some good ole Asian soul food and I think this place's ramen really hit the spot. We thought the service was a little slow as there was only one waitress handling the whole dining area at that time even though there was only one other table eating.
Then as we ordered, we realize that 1) they are out of bamboo shoots (which they can ONLY substitute with bean sprouts), 2) they had ran out of hot water/boiling soup so it needed to reboil, thus our bowl of noodles would have to take another 15 minutes to cook.
Please note that the noodles can be a cooked with a light/normal/heavy salt and flavor base as well as a your choice of lean or fatty pork to accompany your ramen.

While waiting for our noodles, they served us a small bowl of very tasty edamame. When the noodles came, I thought the broth and noodles were cooked really well. The flavor came out wonderfully and it was blazin hot. There were a average amount of meat and veggies that will fill you up. Before I knew it, my whole bowl of ramen was done.

The cost is consistent with other ramen places of $8. So overall, I think this was a very good bet for ramen on any nights, especially those cold / rainy nights of Vancouver.
