i walked in here and nearly had a heart attack.
i was attacked by teh cute! i mean, seriously... it's wall to wall cute and wall to wall colors. it's somewhat pricey in here, but who cares? the stuff is awesome! from subway map umbrellas... to new york times print messenger bags... to kitty cat banks, this store is great for gifts!
and the staff is super friendly. overall, an awesome experience. -

I am so in love with this store, it's sickening. I think I was afflicted with the cuteness disease when I first went to Japan in eighth grade. Seeing how they could turn a simple eraser into a piece of sushi, or a pencil box into a banana made me want more and more of these overpriced, adorable chachkies. And pylones was my answer!!
By far the best purchase I ever made here was an Ipod cover that I bought perhaps four years ago, that had a photographic cover of gumballs. When mine finally fell apart, I went back to Pylones but was saddened to find that they had stopped carrying them.
All of their inventory is pretty cute though - they have some of the most awesome menorahs I've EVER seen around holiday-time. Everything from dish towels to scissors to ashtrays, they've cute-ified. As you will soon find out though, their merchandise is how do you say..overpriced? -

Went into Pylones last week for some X-mas shopping. I went into PIE-lones. To pi-LON-ez. To PLY-ons. PILE-ons. PILL-ones. Peel-o-NAY (the s is silent, it's a french store). I went to Pilates to get some pressies for my little siblings.
I was pleased with all the crap for sale. I wanted to take up smoking in order to use their clever ash tray.
I bought my sister a chicken stapler and an alligator staple remover. I bought my brother a baby robot on a robotic motorcycle. Everything made in China and everything a lotta money for what it is.
I love it for its sheer absurdity. -

If you like cute stuff, this is the place for you!
But I look at somethings, and I don't know if I would use them because they are so cute! Its one of those great stores to stop by if you need to buy a gift. -

Pylones has intensely cute knicknacks and household gadgets that make great gifts. All their stuff resembles various animals. Its a great place to pick up gifts when you're not sure what to get. The staff is very helpful and friendly and make your shopping experience very pleasant.

So I first stumpled (literally, when drunken one night) upon Pylones in the West Village. I was like this is my heaven. I love colors and creativity and the unexpected and this store offers this and more. Then, to my fabulous surprise, about a year later, one opened near my apartment. The stuff is just super cute. If you need a gift for anyone go in and your options will be plenty. A few things I've bought: hair brush with a face of a girl on it, a car window ice scraper with snowflakes on it and a mini koosh attached to the handle, numerous dog toys (which are shockingly dirt cheap), numerous retractable dog leashes (one with glow in the dark bones on it, another with multi colored squares on it (bought this one like 3 times, my dog kept chewing through it - her fault, not the products) and I always get compliments on the stuff from there. The people who work there have always been very nice too. I heart Pylones.
