Prices are kinda high but quality of produce makes up for it. Tight squeeze but again worth it. Plus try the garage sandwiches in the back - best sandwiches in the village! Nice guys too.

This is the home of the HAIRY chicken. That's right HAIRY chicken.
I went to Pusateri's on Church and picked up a roasted chicken that is located by the cash register. It was about $10,00 packed in a plastic container. I took it home and started to cut it up for dinner. While pulling it apart I took a bite of the drumstick and too my disgust the entire leg of the drumstick was hairy--GROSSSSS!!!!
I took a better look at the chicken and there was hair all over it. YECCH!!
I brought it back to them and showed them what a disgusting chicken they sold. They apologized and gave me an exchange, even larger than the one I originally bought.
You'd think if they had a return and a complaint they would check out the replacement chicken.
Well I brought the chicken replacement home and guess what it was worse than the first one. It looked like short pubic hairs up and down the drumstick and on all along the breast. Can you believe the incompetence on this grocer?
Had to go all the way back yet again to return this HAIRY chicken- got my money back and NEVER to return.
I don't know if I'll be able to eat chicken for a good long time. -

As others have mentioned this store has a different feel than the other Pusateri locations.
Overall, this is probably the best grocer in the area. Additionally I've had one of the best meatballs in recent memory from their takeout section. Absolutely beautiful! -

I funkin' love this place. In a perfect world, my Saturday would always consist of an afternoon trip to Pusateri, whereupon I would buy a week's worth of photoshoot-worthy produce and then pick up a sandwich at Garage in the back. Then I would walk away with my fresh bag of goods, a baguette from About Cheese sticking out the side, strutting like Barefoot Contessa on a summer day in the Hamptons.
Their produce selection is top-notch and top-quality. I oftentimes find myself strolling by the outside display and backing up to snatch some local berries or apples. I *always* buy my salad ingredients here (ok, so the lemons aren't always ideal, but I'll forgive and forget). Otherwise their grocery selection is quite unique - you'll find more specialty ingredients here than normal cereal and bread selection. Lots of delicious things you may have never seen before, like oh-my-god the Raincoast Crisps. And unique yogurt.
Oh, don't confuse it with el-snobberino Pusateri's, this spot is as small-town vibey as it gets in this city! My only beef is that they're closed on Sundays, which is usually my get-things-done time. But who can blame 'em for taking a day off?!Listed in: Why Living In The Village Is…

Pusateri Fruit is not to be confused with THE Pusateri's in Yorkville. No way that's a completely different animal catering to a different set of consumers.
What Pusateri's is however is a reliable and honest grocer right in the thick of the village. They have some of the best produce downtown in terms of selection and quality. In fact their produce is so fine looking on most visits that I can't help but cop a feel. Or a appreciative pat here and there. They also have some wonderful gourmet foodie items in stock such as unique vinegars, oils, dried goods and cheeses. Oh and the staff are friendly here too, the stock boy helping me out front this week was a bit of a tease but super helpful.
This little stretch of Church street is becoming quite the foodie block with Pusateri's Fruit, Cumbrae's and About Cheese all within close proximity of each other.Listed in: Good lookin' produce

Should I ever cease to be poor (and I'm hopeful about this, but not exactly optimistic), I am giving up No Frills and buying EVERYTHING at Pusateri. The produce at this place is just gorgeous, and I appreciate that the owner tries hard to stock as much Ontario stuff as possible. What a nice store.

Good things come in small packages. This small neighborhood market has the best selection of fresh produce, fruits and imported goods. If you ever need high quality and fresh herbs, this is the place to go. For some reasons, fresh basil from Pusateri always smells so good! I'm constantly amazed by stocked items and how much they have managed to pack onto the shelves. Everything is easy to find. Wonderful and helpful floor staff. Fast and efficient check-out clerks.

I didn't realize that there was a problem with our supermarkets until I was given an option. Having grown up in the suburbs I was under the mistaken impression that you could only get your groceries from a supermarket, or if it was after 9 and you needed butter you could go to a convenience store in a pinch. Then I moved to the city and it turned out that there is an alternative. That's where Pusateri's comes in, every neighbourhood has it's little market that is always full of people picking up food for that night's dinner. Pusateri's Fruit market is that place, when I first went to Pusateri's I was disappointed having confused it with its unrelated namesake that sits in Yorkville sucking the money out of Yuppie wallets. But when I realized the gem I had stumbled upon I had no regrets. Pusateri's fruit market is about as far from upscale as you can get (but that's not a bad thing) they always have local in season fruits and vegetables as well as a well stocked cheese cupboard. This is a place to get a taste of high quality food at a decent price. I would recommend this market for anyone who is looking for a cheese other than what your local supermarket carries (although Pusateri's even has nice mozzarella and cheddar) and fresh local fruit.
