Simply the best! As someone who grew up in a nicer community and routinely went back to get flowers because I felt they were a good shop with good prices, I was astounded when I finally tried Purple Orchid.
I am a firm believer in giving flowers at the right moment, and often times, the right moment is not when a certain flower is exceptionally easy to find! Now, I must confess, I do not always get the flower I have in mind, I usually leave with better than I had in mind when I walked in.
Nancy and her team run a tip-top flower shop, whether it is something simple (like a single pink lily) or something incredibly different with unique shrubery in it, they will provide you with the arrangement you could not even dream up!
The only key when coming here is that they are often VERY busy, and you may be waiting a while - believe me when I say this, the wait is worth it, that twenty minutes they spent with the last customer making the arrangement perfect? They will do the same with you, or more if need be. -

I love it when a plan comes together!
My girlfriend was coming in to Calgary for business and I wanted to give her a little surprise. It had been a long trip for her, she was in the final leg of it and I knew she was getting worn down. Knowing her hotel and talking with the front desk I felt a little floral arrangement would perk her spirits up a little, they gave me all the information I needed, except one thing.
Where do I get the flowers from!?
I partook of Yelp, Canadian style of course, and spied the barren reviews. Until I saw Carrie P's talk of " "funkiest" floral arrangements". The thing is, all these other flower shops web sites, were... well bland. Boring. Cookie cutter. Nothing brought my attention and made me want to say, "Yes! Yes! I want to go here!" Well... guess what?
Purple Orchid's website blew me away. So unique, so different, so perfect. I knew I had found the one. I called up the store the day before my girlfriend was to arrive at the hotel, hoping they could do something. The woman couldn't have been nicer. Trying to get an idea of exactly what I wanted: colors, flowers, any specifics I wanted and she could think of, I was excited, but what would the recipient think of them?
I eagerly awaited a phone call the next day, a text, email... anything! At one point I just needed a nap. I curled up and when I woke up forty minutes later, I had my answer. A very happy and surprised voice on my voicemail confirmed my suspicion. Purple Orchid had sent a very unique, very lovely and happy inspiring bouquet and made two people very happy.
The sad thing is Purple Orchid isn't here in Chicago, however that is a great thing for anyone looking for some great arrangements in Calgary. -

Considering my absolute favourite flower in this ENTIRE world is the orchid, I'm surprised it's taken me this long to make it over to this place.
After having read RAVE reviews, I couldn't help but want to experience all that is Purple Orchid.
I was in need of an arrangement that would ouze the 'WOW FACTOR' and allow me to assure you that this place HOOKED ME UP.
Not only was the arrangement that they made for me the most beautiful and unique I have ever seen, but the reactions it got (leaving the store and throughout the journey to our destination) made my heart happy.
The staff here is EXCEPTIONAL, and their selection and quality of flowers is unparallelled in this city.
Listen up boys: You want to impress that lovely lady in your life? Make a pit-stop at Purple Orchid and don't say I didn't tell ya so. -

I love, love. love this store, first of all there were pussy willows in the front of the store, and obviously that a great assortment of wilder flowers.
The shelves inside gave you every option you can possible think of as a flower vase; ceramic, glass, porcelain and even tin. The favourite part for me however was the area in the back that housed THEM.
Yes the most unique and wonderful flower for me the ORCHID. There they were in all their glory peaking out in such sensual ways. So many nice colors and patterns to choose from, they are enticing and a bit seductive.
Gil and her workers claimed they were the most unique flower that they ever came across simply because with they survive the best with the least attention; in fact one of the woman went as far to say that her bachelor son who has no time or green thumb has the most beautiful orchid flowering in his home and it has lasted for years.
This is definitely a great place to find that very special flower arrangement, visit if you have time. -

these are the "funkiest" floral arrangements in Calgary! I have ordered lots of flower arrangements from the Purple Orchid, and I keep coming back!
