Review from Kat D.
Purebread now has a store in Whistler. They also come to the winter farmers market in Vancouver. The passion with which they bake is evident in very bite of their bread, pastry and other sweets.
The Nutella brioches have captured the imagination of customers. The brownies have a faint flavour of coffee and surprisingly are just as good the second day, if you can wait. I couldn't understand why I had had such a visceral reaction to their almond croissants but at some point last summer I realized that they make me feel good because they remind me
of my first days living in Italy when I tried to blend at breakfast time by drinking cappuccino and eating a "cornetto" standing up at a marble counter in a tiny cafe. It has been years since I tasted an "almond" croissant which was redolent with butter and almond paste. Poor croisants - you have been horribly abused by places like Costco and Burger King which bake you in a factory and leave you whitish and identical to the other 100 on the tray. As for the bread, Paesano, Rustic Italian, baguettes and cheese and jalapeno breads are the antidote to factory bread. I would like to taste the pizza. and the bread made with beer. -

I popped into this place because it was across from Whistler Brewing where I just had a tasting tour with She Who Must Be Obeyed. The brewery informed us that the bakery used the spent malt grains to make a Dysfunction Ale bread. Intrigued, we bought a loaf plus a loaf of hazelnut fig as well as a brownie, an OMG and a coconut slice.
The OMG is very similar to the brownie and I'm not sure why they carry both. The brownie is excellent and has a slight edge on the OMG which was supposed to be richer but was lighter and perhaps a little less sweet but not as satisfying as the brownie. The coconut slice was also quite tasty.
But the bread. The bread was awful. Both loaves were not quite fully baked and were slightly gummy in the middle. But even if this was not the case, they were so very, very bland. The Dysfunction bread could have been so much more but I suspect that it was made with a quick process and appeared to be not properly made as the crumb was very badly developed. Insufficient kneading and/or fermentation time would be my guess. The hazelnut loaf suffered from the same thing and both could definitely have used more salt.
I would go back for the cakes but steer clear of the bread. -

Simply the best!
everything from the bread to the cakes and coffee!
Its quiet but always a steady flow of people.
My favourite has been a lemon douhnut and the carrot cake yoyo's! YUM!
you'll also find these guys at the farmers market on sundays in the summer. BUT get there early along with a few other stalls these guys sell out quickly and theres always SO many people in the front of it! -

The very best bakery in Whistler.
Excellent, innovative baked products. Fresh, high quality product and ingredients and very CONSISTENT product.
We used to bring baked products with us from Vancouver, no longer. Purebread is the best!
Purebread's baked products make the pastry that we used to occasionally pick up with coffee at Starbuck's taste like cardboard. -

Amazing bread! The raisin walnut and cranberry ginger breads are delicious toasted and with some butter for breakfast. My parents picked up some bread at the farmer's marked and we could not stop eating it!!
Specialties
We specialize in hand crafted breads and baked goods. From our cheddar jalapeno and lavender rosemary and honey loaves to our fresh baked almond croissants and savoury pudgie pies there is always something fresh and unique coming out of the oven.
