Purdy's Chocolates are rather inexpensive, taste great and make amazing budget-friendly gifts. Of course, Purdy's in not Bernard Callebaut or Godiva, but the quality of chocolate is really good. Both milk and dark chocolates are smooth and creamy. Whether you are looking to buy premade boxes of assorted chocolates or want to create your own assortment, Purdy's allows you to do that thanks to the ample selection. Any chocoholic will appreciate caramel, fruit and nuts filled chocolates; Hedgehogs, Truffles, mint and mocha Melties, English Toffees and Sweet (and salty) Georgia Browns. Dark, milk and white chocolate bars are extremely good. Packed in Purdy's signature purple and gold boxes, the abovementioned chocolates make a fantastic gift. During holiday season, all Purdy's locations tend to get busy, but customer service never suffers because of that, and sales associates remain friendly and helpful.

Purdy's is probably the biggest and best-known of the chocolate specialty shops. I always head here when I need to buy a gift for the special sweet tooths in my life. I usually pick up a half pound or pound of assorted chocolates, but other choices include all milk or dark combinations, hazelnut filled hedgehog truffles, and Sweet Georgia Browns, a Purdy's classic: a thick dollop of milk chocolate on top of a buttery creamy combination of caramel and whole pieces of pecans. Purdy's also carries a selection of candy bars, some of them sold in gift combinations. If you can't find something pre-packaged , make your own box by picking from the loose chocolates in the front display. I always find the staff at Purdy's to be extremely friendly, and usually a bit older and experienced. One time when I was finishing my purchase I appeared to feel rushed to get out of the way of the customers behind me, and the salesperson told me to relax and take my time. Just like I feel when I enjoy chocolate!
