Review from Canadian G.
Just passing through town for one night & thought I would try it out after reading great yelp reviews.
It was everything I would expect out of a brewpub. Started with an order of mussels, served with beer bread. The flavor of the dish was great. I had a wood fired roasted veggie pizza & thought it was amazing. My fiancé ordered the buffalo burger. He said it was good, nothing special. The fries were yummy!
We did a flight of beers so we could try several. My personal favorite was the scotch ale, with the blueberry being a close 2nd. The others were good, the only one I didn't care for was the IPA.
The atmosphere was perfect for a casual dinner and the service was good. -

Another getaway to Moncton merits another stop at the Pumphouse.
As it was a Saturday night, we were treated to another 15-20 minute wait for a table, but I guess that's the norm for this place. When we finally settled at a table (and not an awesome booth-in-a-barrel), we ordered some beer and checked the menus. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I enjoyed two blueberry ales with dinner. The boyfriend liked the Cadian cream ale enough to take a case home.
I tried the ribs and chicken special, and I was a little disappointed. My meal was just above warm, and so was Tyler T.'s pizza. The chicken wings were plump and juicy, and the honey bbq sauce was spot on, at least. However, I barely ate half my ribs. They were dry, a bit tough, and looked like they'd been sitting out for a while. The sauce also wasn't appealing; one flavour, that I think is hoisin sauce, was too overpowering to enjoy. I'd definitely not order that again.
What redeemed the meal, though, was dessert. Sure, the fried pepperoni app was good, but I'm a sweets kind of gal. The chocolate coffee cookie dough chunk cheesecake should be the only thing on the dessert menu, because it's so good you would be remiss to order anything else. Drizzled with enough caramel and chocolate sauce to drown Augustus Gloop and you've got yourself a plate of heaven.
Despite the flop with the main course, the bill was impressive enough to make me return. Dinner for two including an app, a dessert, three beer and a case to take home with us was $75 after tax and tip.Listed in: Escape to Moncton

If you happen to find yourself in Moncton, this is the place to eat.
The Pump House Brewery has been a longtime favorite of my boyfriend, so on a recent trip to Moncton we checked it out. Since I'm not a beer drinker I wasn't expecting to be impressed, but it was a delightful spot. It was a warm evening so we sat outside on their spacious patio.
I started with the blueberry beer, and it was really tasty. I rarely enjoy beer, but this beer with fresh blueberries floating in it really hit the spot. I decided to order the bison burger, because I've never seen that on a menu in Halifax. It was moist, flavorful and came on delicious beer bread. The fries were hot and crispy, just the way I like them.
Overall, it was a lovely experience - great food, great service, and it was nice to eat something other than typical road trip food. -

I found this place 10 years ago and I make sure I stop here every time I'm in Moncton. As far as the beer goes, it's one of my favorite craft breweries in the Maritimes (and I've been to a lot of them) and as for the food they do the regular pub fare with a just little something extra. Bison burgers, wood fired pizzas, great wings, wood oven roasted eggplant. The beer bread and the home-cut fries are both good enough to get an honourable mention on their own.

The pump House Brewery has always been a favorite of mine. Home brewed beer may have something to do with it! I'm a fan of the Blueberry Ale that the Pump House is famous for. They also have the best fish and chips in the city. I love that you can buy cases of beer on your way out, or if the liquor store is closed and you need a quick fix.
There is live entertainment on certain nights and it can get VERY busy and loud.
The only con to the Pump House is that there is always a line for tables, however, the line does go quickly. If you are left waiting for longer than 10 minutes the hostess always offers a drink while waiting, which is a great perk!
Overall, a great place to spend a any day of the week :) -

If you're visiting Moncton (Why are you visiting Moncton?!) you have got to visit The Pump House! Their micro brewed beers are the best in New Brunswick, and the wood fire pizza is to die for.
Try a pint of the seasonal, followed by the Blueberry beer with a scoopful of real blueberries pitched in, and take a case of the Scotch Ale with you on the way out. Not all their beers are knock outs, but what they do get right stand out, even for the snobbiest of beer snobs. -

Stopped in for a bit after not visiting for several years as my normal Moncton stop was their other location, Barnyard BBQ. Drank Thai Wheat, IPA, and Lager. Thai Wheat is quite similar to their regular Weissbier/Wheat that they put on seasonally, but seemed to be missing the banana/clove nose to it, or maybe it is there but didn't pick it up due to seasonal allergies that has made my sense of smell suffer. The IPA was West Coast style, and went excellent with the food, Classic Pepperoni Pizza & Calamari (more on that later). The lager was quite typical of a quality continental lager, with full flavour, and a refreshing crispiness that would have been even more refreshing had the weather been nicer.
The calamari were cut thicker than other places I've had them, and were only the rings, none of the tentacles though which are tasty, but these calamari rings were melt in your mouth tender, and plentiful for the modest price, somewhere under $10 for the app. The pizza was 9 inches and also under $10. The pepperoni was more like a salami in flavour (no spicy kick), and topped like a pizza you cherish from years ago (with green peppers and mushrooms), but done so well, like a gourmet pizza from today with quality cheese, a fresh tomato sauce, and near perfect thin crust. I really loved this quick meal before heading back to Saint John.
I gather that this place is really busy Friday after work given the lineup to get a table inside, and after seeing the lineup we decided to eat outside on the patio (where there were open tables) even though the sun was gone. Cars also seemed to slowly drive by, look from the car into the door to see how long the lineup was to get a table inside before deciding if they wanted to go in).
Even though it was busy, our server quickly got us our drinks, food order, and kept the drinks flowing until I asked for my cheque, which also came promptly, and took my payment with the same speediness. He was also friendly, and engaging, especially given how busy it seemed to be.
Overall, I had a great time at Pumphouse and will return the next time I'm in Moncton, and so should you. -

I've heard much about this place from my many friends who've hailed from Moncton over the years. Headed over there shortly after breakfast for a little morning dessert.
I should note, as we'd just had eggs and bacon, we did not eat here. I can't speak for the food, although by all accounts it's apparently more than adequate, specifically the pizzas. Perhaps one day I shall return.
On my arrival I ordered a sampler featuring everything they had to offer: Blueberry Ale (good, served with real blueberries in it), Cadian Cream Ale (poor), Fire Chief Red Ale (meh), Scotch Ale (good), SOB (very good), IPA (good), Pail Ale (ok), Raspberry Wheat (meh) and my personal favourite, the Muddy River Stout. Don't mind me, I'm a total beer snob, most of these are quite good and served by a friendly staff. Good stuff. -

The best microbrewery I have ever been to, in the greatest little city in the world. Come for the beer, and stay for the awesome food and atmosphere! The Pump House brews all of their own beer, and often has amazing seasonals (Maple Ale...mmmm). They are probably most famous for their Blueberry Ale, complete with real blueberries - I loved it, but was even more impressed by their Scotch Ale and Fire Chief Red.
After having a few cold ones, skim through the menu and head directly for the brick-oven baked pizzas. They have a lot of original flavors, the crust is delicious, and it pairs perfectly with the beers. Head over there around 8pm on a Saturday night during the winter, and enjoy Hockey Night in Canada on the big screen with the locals.
Oh yeah, you can also buy their beer in bottles to bring home, so grab a six-pack on the way out and enjoy the little slice of heaven in the comfort of your own home! -

The oven fired pizzas are the big draw here-- well, aside from the brews that is. The pies really are quite tasty, but if you're not in the mood for that, then the cheeseburgers are pretty darn good too. I am just visiting here, so I haven't tried all the microbrews, but I can definitely recommend the blueberry ale. It tastes great, plus they dump a spoonful of berries in it when they serve it to you. So in addition to the beer, you get the entertainment of watching blueberries float up through your beer as they collect bubbles, then sink again when the bubbles burst at the surface. It's particularly mesmerizing if you've had a few already. ;-)

This is a fun place. It is fun from the atmosphere, to the beers, to the food, to the service. I had a buffalo burger that was a very generous portion at a very good price. I also tasted a very good Italian dish which i didn't expect at a place like Pumphouse. The barbecue wings were out of this world. Dont think I forgot about the whole beer aspect to this place. It is a brew pub so the only beers they serve is their own beer. They also sell pumphouse souvenirs. This is a must-stop if in Moncton or even if you are faraway from Moncton it is still a must-stop.
