How cool to have a taco truck here in Victoria! The food is delicious and cheap. Ya gotta stop by and pick up lunch - it's worth every small penny they'll charge you. And the truck is clean as a whistle, so you know your food is safe, even in the sketchy near-Market-Square area.

Puerto Vallarta Amigos opened about a year ago and it just continues getting better.

This truck is the only place you can get a torta in Victoria. The buns they use are fresh and good - they tend to be spongier than the ones used in the trucks in SF.

They also have a number of specials to look out for. One Friday, they made a fantastically rich and flavourful Pozole (a stew with hominy, pork, garlic, and a number of other herbs)

As the owners of the truck are Hindus (I think) from Puerto Vallarta, they do not serve Burritos (a California invention), but they offer a number of vegetarian fillings, including Soy Chorizo, Beans and Cheese, and a Potato/Spinach combo.

The pre-made tortillas they use for the tacos and quesadillas pale in comparison to the fresh, homemade ones at La Taquisa or Hernande'z, but they also enable you to get your food in less than 5 minutes instead of about 20.

    This truck is legit!

As soon as I walked up and was given a friendly greeting of "What can I get for you my friend?", I had confidence in their food. I was having trouble not flashing back to some fantastic Mexican vacations while chatting with the guy in the truck. I ordered one of each of their 4" corn tortilla tacos. I LOVED 3 of them and quite liked another one. The pork taco and the bean n cheese were excellent.

Friday is their day for specials, so if you're looking to maybe get a tamale, some enchiladas de mole or tacos del pastor, Friday could be the day to go.

They're opening a new truck up at Douglas X Broughton so keep your eyes open for it.
Update: the Douglas X Broughton truck has moved to Uptown by the Best Buy according to their site :(

Ummmm.....these tacos were WONDERFUL. $7.00 for a plate full of mini tacos that you could combine different flavours of meat. They were delicious and a nice alternative to waiting in line for fish tacos from Red Fish Blue FIsh for over an hour. We swung past here daily on our 7 day trip to Victoria because the food was cheap and delicious and the service warm and friendly (as was the case in so many places in Victoria). Get on the taco truck!

Victoria's first taco truck! I just moved up to VIctoria from California and was stoked to see that Victoria's got its very own taco truck. The shiny exterior and spotlessly clean interior had me convinced it wasn't going to match up to the killer food that comes out of the dirty, run down taco trucks I'm used to in California. But the shredded pork tacos were to die for, and at only $1.25 a piece, or 6 for $6 they were a bargain. They've even got vegetarian options, tortas, and on Tuesdays serve up a rockin bowl of tortilla soup. This place is a must!
