I just had my first haircut at Propaganda, and I had a great time. The salon is clean, and the people on staff are fun and friendly. There's parking out back, and you get coffee or tea while you wait. The waiting area is a bit tight, but thankfully, wait times are reasonable.
My stylist was Lindsay, and she was terrific. She gave me some great recommendations and tips on hair care and created a snazzy 'do out of my otherwise bland hairstyle. Prices were reasonable, both for haircuts and products.
You can tell that stylists at Propaganda don't do it for the money; they enjoy what they do, and it shows. -

I have had a quick bang trim on two occasions, with Andre. Both times he revamped my overgrown cut to an awesome level; last time he actually pulled out the flat iron to add a few curls.
I have a regular stylist (not at Propaganda) that does a great job but I am very tempted of changing over. Nice atmosphere and it seems the culture is to go over and above `good`! I get the sense that any of the stylists there would be expertly skilled.
I rarely write reviews but this place deserves a cheer. -

I've been going to this salon for years, Ciara is my hair stylist. I like to change my hair colour and style a lot and she always manages to make me look great. She's got a good eye and can help you pick something that's really going to suit you. I've had black hair, red hair, blonde hair and styles from kind of punky to uber-professional. She can pull it all off. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She cuts my husband's hair too and he is super picky and is always very happy with what she does.
The salon is nice, centrally located and has parking. -

This is review is more for a particular stylist than for a salon. But here are my two cents on the salon itself: nice set up, parking out back, friendly staff, tea or coffee while you wait, head massage during the hair wash, and a lollipop for when you leave.
But my favorite part about the salon is Scotty! He is amazing. I've been seeing him for about a year now. My old stylist moved to a more expensive salon so I made an appointment with Scotty just on a whim. He has been a dream ever since. He is great with my hair, which is the stupidest hair ever (fine, but TONS of it, plus awkwardly wavy) and he's been helping me keep it healthy while I grow it out. Even though right now I have a boring style, he's been awesome at helping me add a little kick to it, with layers and bangs and color. If you're looking for a good stylist, who is great to talk to while you're there, definitely ask for Scotty! -

I followed my stylist (Joe), who previously worked at Toni & Guy, to this place and I have to say, it's a lot more my style than Toni & Guy.
It's a chill open environment, somewhere in between a posh, uppity place and the Chop Shop I guess.
I've loved every experience I've gotten at Propaganda, even when I wasn't able to get my regular stylist. I also appreciated that if my regular stylist isn't available, they would give me another stylist at the same rate, even if the subtituting stylist usually costs more.
The shampoo head massages are the best, too. I find the prices a little on the high end, but nothing I wouldn't expect from a salon on 4th.
A side note, Joe is also one of the make up artists at Propaganda, and he does the most AMAZING make up. I've worked with a few make up artists before, but I always *always* prefer to go to Joe. He does the most amazing dramatic looks. -

Good hair salon depending on stylist ( as with most places). Prices are a bit high... Starts at $50 for cut and dry, but it's worth it. They use all bumble and Buymble products and good welcoming servicwe :) . Whitney is my stylist and she rocks so I always go back for more!!!

Great place with great people. I usually frequent the West 2nd location and get my hair done by Des. I've been going to her for years and by far the only person I trust my hair with. Des is seriously talented and over the years have had my hair cut, colored, permed, and more and each time am always pleased. She's worth every penny and would recommend her to anyone.

I would certainly give 0 as a rating if I could. This was my first time to have a hair cut in Vancouver, so I had no idea where to go. A friend of mine recommended Propaganda. I had an appointment, said it would be my first time there. Well, they assigned me to a lady. I had long hair (very past mid-back) that I just wanted to get layered and get rid of the bad ends. I made it very clear how much she could cut at the most and showed the length I want to keep it. My hair ended up short (around 3 inches past my shoulder) with some chin length layers that serve no purpose. Other than those layers, the end of the hair is not layered at all. It seems like a kid just tried to cut it straigth with a scissor. It was overall a very bad cut. After a few days I went to another hair dressers to get it fixed, but still I am not happy with it. I have to wear it ponytail for a long time. Now I have no courage to try another hair dresser in Vancouver. The worst thing, the person who cut my hair was apparently on training. Later I saw a posting on craigslist that she was trying to find a guinea pig to color and cut the hair for free. What is making me upset is that they are not professional. At least try to assign your best hair dresser to your new and first customers or inform them about the skill levels and the fee. I would not mind paying for the best one. Nobody is willing to be tested by a no-skill hair dresser to be.
