Review from Mochi M.
They used to sell clothing but not any more.
What they're really known for (for me) are their awesome plush toys and stationery goods... but most of all, their NECKLACES!!!
I love all the lines they carry. A lot of beautiful (expensive in the $60 - $200 range) lines that have organic leaves as inspiration, or beautiful metals that are stained and patterned.
Really a wonderful shop to visit and it has tons of great things to look at. -

I don't like their website... so I didn't try to make myself come here. When I was in the area one day, I visited here and it's such a cute little shop :) like a mini gallery. LOVE the Ninjatown plush!!!!
I have a mug from here, Little Miss Giggles. It was a gift :) and I adore it. When I received it, it was very very nicely wrapped in tissue paper by the shop keeper (or cashier person) that day. SUCH SKILLS!
The store is very organized, with all items placed on tall wooden shelves. They have a lot of fun, cute stuff and books, like All My Friends Are Dead, What's My Pee Telling Me?, and Stuff Every Man Should Know.
As for the service... I've been here 3 times, and they were really nice. They didn't bother me except to casually ask if I needed help (which was great because... there were 2 times when it was completely empty and I would've hated it if they followed me). -

Propaganda is a store that I have passed by countless times and every time I have I'm always thinking, oh ya I've gotta go in and check that place out. I finally did go in and I'm so glad I did!
Propaganda reminds me a bit of The Outer Layer although somewhat less packed full of stuff and slightly more upscale. There are signs everywhere saying 'Please Ask For Assistance' so I got the message pretty quick that they don't want us customers handling things on our own. I came in to get a few things as Xmas presents and found everything I was looking for and then some.
In here you will find all kinds of fun and quirky items from stuffed sock moneys to books entitled '1000 Things That Can Possibly Kill You'. My personal favourite was the Mr Men and Little Miss character mugs. Who else remembers those books??? This is the perfect place to shop for gifts since gifts should always be something some fun and memorable, at least in my opinion.
The service I must say is slightly lacking. The lone salesperson there seemed very bored and indifferent to helping me out. I'm thinking seriously, I wouldn't be asking for your help if there weren't signs everywhere forbidding me to touch anything myself. I'm actually very capable of picking up things myself and bringing them to the cash register. -

Okay - there's something about this store that makes me squee with glee. I think it's the toys. It has to be the toys.
You can't go wrong with cute panda plushes, or even plush toys that are toast, eggs, bacon, etc.
SQUEE!
Lots of other cool things such as clothes, accessories etc for women. Awesome little books there as well! -

I love this hidden gift store on the Yonge Strip. We came by it after brunch and I love this small store full of goodies! You have things on the floor to ceiling book shelves full of unique gifts and jewelery. So many things to see! So many things you haven't seen before!
I feels like an art gallery that you can touch.
The stuff in here is along the lines of Drysdale+Co, Blue Banana and other gift stores. Not as quirky and blunt as Rolo, a lot more softened with a quiet sophistication.
Its my new go-to gift store!Listed in: Gifts, Presents, Trinkets and…

I'm a huge fan of Propaganda. I'm normally intimidated by hip stores like this one, but I always feel very welcome. Most of their prices are competitive when it comes to the products they sell (you simply can't compare their stuff to the things you find at the mall, the quality and creativity involved makes it worth the extra cash). yet when you compare them against their main competitors, I think you're getting the best price for the stuff you find there.
They have hilarious cards, adorable softies/plushies, cute bags, and lots of fun gifts. Whenever I don't know what to get for a friend, I go there and come away with something original and fun, like sock monkey slippers, a toque with a beaver tail, face, and ears, a book all about poo, a beautiful stationery set. I go out of my way to check out Propaganda and highly recommend you give it a fair shake!
They also have a wide selection of vegan bags - check the tags before blindly buying since I'm not sure if they're ALL 100% vegan but they do typically seem to have a great selection including Queen Bee bags! -

cute cute cute store!!
i bought a card here for 5 bucks.. which i think is just an ok price for such a plain card.. but the message was funny as hell! they have some pretty raunchy cards in here too.
i love the jewelry they have in here.. and the cute wallets. lots of great things u can buy as gifts for ur girlfriends.
some of the stuff reminds me of things u can find at urban outfitters.
the person working there is really nice and helpful. -

When ever I go into this store I always end up buying some jewellry.
I am not a huge fan of their clothes and bags but I do love the necklaces, earrings and rings they carry. -

Great jewelry, great gift ideas, great staff and great store. I don't go into this store very often just because I'm rarely in that area, but it's definitely one of those cute stores that I am a sucker for.
Come here for unique, locally-made clothes, bags and accessories, or even some of the mass-produced trinkets that you can easily grab at Urban Outfitters (Miso Pretty, other stuff like that).
It's only overpriced if you would rather buy a cheap crappy shirt from American Eagle that every person in North America will be wearing for the rest of the year. Buy local stuff, look unique, and spend a couple extra bucks. -

I love Propaganda! I pop in every time I'm near Bloor & Yonge just to see what's new. Lots of unique and lovely items that make gift ideas. I love that all of the jewelry on sale is by Canadian artists. The display cases of jewelry feel like an art gallery - with none of the pretention. You can try things on and the sales staff are always really friendly and helpful. I own a few pieces from this store and they are the pieces that get the most attention and compliments in my wardrobe. Prices vary from $10 to $250 but you honestly get what you pay for. I own the Baroque Cuff and it is a solid piece of sterling silver and is absolutely stunning.
I've seen some beautiful clothing items in the store too, but they didn't have my size. My sister's favorite "go-to" bag was purchased here. I love the random assortment of plushies that they carry here (Super Juicy Chicken!!) and there are lots of cute books and quirky gift ideas. -

If you are looking for a unique gift or some creative jewlery this is the place to go.
Prices range from 5$ books-300$ jewlery.
They carry the cutiest stuffed animals, funniest and most unique books, corky gifts and cool clothing.
The owner is VERY friendly.
It is a small little store. But you do not feel like they are watching you making sure you dont steal. They give you space to browse around and do your own thing.
My friend and I came and bought an umbrella that looked like a sword if you had it sticking out of your bag. $25. And he bought an "insult book" 10$.
Im deffinitly going back to buy a BOOMBOX ring I saw and a really cute hand made coin purse!
Oh yeah!
Alot of things are one of a kind, hand made!
Really cute..
GO CHECK IT OUT! -

Yes, the store is a little small, but I see that everyday. Yes, some of the stuff is overpriced, but, again...So, yeah, Propaganda is one of those fun, sassy kind of gift stores I speak so affectionately about, carrying with it certain truths like yes, I am being pandered to based on my demographic's stereotypes, and no, I never thought I would pay $12 dollars for a stuffed mustache (to borrow from Mike S' experience, if I may).
So yes, a lot of the usual suspects are there. Quirky stationary and greeting cards you could never give your parents. Kitsch galore. Add to that some pretty nice and locally designed clothes, a relatively big selection of tote and handbags and some beautiful and unique handmade jewelry. New York designer Michael Michaud has a number of pieces for sale here inspired by nature's jewelery, that being berries, flowers and plants, of course. Chains of clover, sprigs of ginkgo and wreaths of berries are a hippy girl's dream, made delicate silver reality. I bought my sister some blueberries last Christmas and all their matching pieces still taunt me in the display case.
The kin of my beloved David Bowie glass-bubble belt (not the technical name, I imagine...too many "B"s) is also still there, about 3 years after I received mine as a gift. I imagine that this longevity reflects the success of the store itself. -

There are some stores that are just too cool to stay in business and I have a strong feeling that Propaganda is going to be one of those stores. The store is clearly designed on the minimalist principle but while that may work for some, having a store with very little merchandise is a pretty quick recipe for failure. I do like the store and when I went, the staff was very chatty, (I can only assume because no one ever goes in.) I did like their stuffed mustaches (actually a stuffed toy in the shape of a mustache) but I thought that the $12 price tag was a bit steep. I really do like Propaganda in theory, but I'm not sure who I'd recommend it to because there is very little inside. I think I would recommend it if you are looking for a gift for someone with a quirky personality and are running out of ideas.

I lurrrrve this shop. I pop in almost every time I walk on by, but especially when I'm searching for a quirky and/or unique gift.
From plush moustaches and hip messenger bags, they've got tons of swag and their prices are very reasonable. I also really like that their display cases feature Canadian designers showcasing unique pieces.
The sales staff is always helpful and more than encourages you to try on or handle their merchandise. Three cheers for this funky retailer! -

Along with Trove, Propaganda is my favourite place in the city to shop for unique jewellery. A lot of it is made by local designers and is one of a kind. The owner is really nice and there is never pressure to buy anything and I like that there's always a rotation of new stuff in the glass display cases. I almost never leave without buying something because it's just such a pleasant little shop and I love their stuff!

This is the best store to shop for that 'hard to shop for' or 'she has everything' kind of friend! There are great clothes, bags, jewelery and knick knacks that are fun. Great present and they wrap it in cute Chinese take-out containers!
