As far as interesting downtown lunch spots go, I like this one. It's in the $20 lunch-with-drink-and-tip range, if you're eating one of the lower-priced plates. There are also quite a few more expensive seafood dishes that are better suited to an evening meal, such as lobster and dungeness crab.
I had the prawn noodle soup ($9.50), one of the signature dishes. It was served piping hot and chock full of goodness. Service here is as polished as the dining room -- modern and not too gregarious.
The menus are easy to read and understand. Not really that creatively written, but they get the job done. -

(cue music) "Bump, bump, bump....Another one bites the dust.....Bump, bump, bump.....Another one bites the dust....And another one gone, and another one gone....Another one bites the dust."
Didn't take too long after that extremely negative health review for them to shut down. Passed by today and saw a sign for a new sushi bar (WTF? Like Vancouver needs another budget sushi bar?!?!?!?!) going into the space. I hope they do a thorough, thorough, THOROUGH scrub before exposing people to raw fish in that setting.Listed in: Fool me once, shame on you.…, Vancouver…

Review from Justin L.
Modern decor, attentive service, and reasonable prices. Especially given its prime downtown location on Robson. I went for a weekend lunch, but if I worked downtown, this would definitely be a regular spot, whether at noon time or after work. I should also mention that some other tables had young children with them. I noticed that staff members were very accommodating.
Be warned: if you enjoy bland food, this is not the place for you. Flavors are boldly and authentically Singaporean (literally, given that many ingredients are directly imported). So don't let the western chic setting get you thinking that this is another one of those fusion confusions, where food often ends up being neither this nor much of that.
Yes, this is a franchise with locations throughout Asia. Yes, it uses its own ready made sauces. But my take on that is to not be so quick to dismiss a business just because it is the offshoot of someone else's model of success. And who knows, it's probably some mom and pop who run this particular shop. If the goods are good, the place gets my money. And the sauces happen to be pretty darn tasty.
If you're the kind of person who can go for some succulent Hainanese Chicken with three dipping sauces, whole crabs fried with an explosive chili sauce, or tender sticks of satay chicken gently rolled in a peanut sauce, all in a comfortable setting, then you'd do well to get over any hang-ups about "authenticity" and actually try the food. I'm glad I did. -

A great place to be introduced to Singaporean cuisine (I was a virgin to it prior). Tastefully decorated, Prima Taste resembles an inviting chic boutique restaurant. The menu explained each dish (yummy pics included) and my BF and I chose to order the nasi goreng (tomatoey noodle dish) and chicken rice for main dishes, chili soft shell crab, laksa, for appetizers. Mmmm...every dish was well seasoned, spiced, and generously portioned (main entrees). It also served fun, tropical bar drinks (Singapore Sling!!) that gives nod to its Asian roots. It's worth a visit. I took a star off because I asked if Prima Taste offered thai tea (they don't) but was recommended Singapore's version of it (which tasted horrible). Otherwise all was tasty.

One of the worst places for Singapore cuisine when it comes to quality and value. Dishes are so small for the price you're paying. A noodle bowl dish at about 10 dollars had so few noodles, I could finish it in less than 1 minute or one big mouthful. The fried rice dish I ate was also small and the quality is about as same as food court at a mall. The BBQ chicken on a lil' stick had a ton of tar. Service was slow!
