When I lived in London, I was in walking distance of an overpriced A&P, so I was always trying to get rides to this rather-less-nearby Price Chopper whenever I could. The same amount of groceries would cost ten to twenty bucks less here, even more if I stocked up on meat that was on sale and stuck it in the freezer.
Of course, you pay in other ways: the produce is slightly dodgier here (though not outright bad), and the mall this Price Chopper is in is pretty grim, nor particularly accessible by foot. A grocery shop on the Wonderland or Oxford bus is doable, but probably only for short-haul trips.
