I love a local coffee shop. Family owned and operated, Café Prego is always run by the same married couple.
The Café is steps from the water, great spot to grab a cup and sip it seaside. Every now and again the coffee is somewhat burnt, something which turns my stomach. This is a rarity though, and in all the times I've been here it's only happened a few times.
The java is superior to Starbucks. Plus it's never a bad thing to give your money to a local family versus a faceless American corporation. -

Small family-owned coffee shop, conveniently located for grabbing a cup of coffee or bite to eat while walking the seawall. Breakfast is tasty and good value. (Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, bagels, etc.)

The couple that runs this place is very nice. I like supporting the little guy with the best of them, and the location is convenient. But I've frequently been disappointed with the freshness of their product - everything from a slightly stale piece of bread on the sandwich to wilted leaves on the salad to freezer burn on the gelato (they switched from the more expensive Mondo gelato to Mario's unfortunately a few years ago). I eventually just stopped going.
