This is probably one of my favorites places to stay.  Every year my family spends New Year's at The Post and we have yet to be disappointed.  It has a quaint country lodge feel and I love that the owners (two swiss brothers) really try to get to know all the patrons.  Every year my parents receive a bottle of champagne and hand written card thanking them for staying from the owners.  I am huge on the little things as with giant chain hotels you never get that.  From the time you arrive you are taken care of, and I always find it very relaxing here as it isn't huge so you don't have the hustle and bustle of some hotels.

Their Spa is amazing I must say and their pool is definitely one of the cleanest and nicest for a mountain hotel.  It is always sparkling and inviting you for a dip!  The rooms vary in spaciousness depending your budget and each room has and LCD TV with a built in DVD Player which is nice as you have options if the TV selection is not too good.  You can go to the front desk and rent movies free of charge and I was very impressed with the selection as they have a huge variety from old to new all catalogued in an organized booklet.

One of my highlight of spending New Year's here is always their annual New Years Eve gala.  Everyone is all dolled up from tuxes to gowns and you enjoy an amazing 7 course meal starting with appetizers in the kitchen, yes you get to tour the kitchen while the chefs work, and ended with an amazing desert.  They always have a great live band and each table has it's own server so whenever your wine runs our they will make sure to bring you more :)

Elegant  small hotel located on a beautiful stream. We chose this instead of the Fairmont on Lake Louise to avoid the crazy crowds there. It was a smart decision. Also the dining room at the Post is five stars plus!

The Post Hotel strives to offer a high-class ski lodge experience, and for the most part it succeeds.  However, if you want to spend a lot of money and spend the night in a fairly comfortable and decent-sized second-floor room overlooking the rooftop of the nice cabins next to the Pipestone River (with said rooftop also obscuring your potential mountain view), then this is the place to do so.  For a few dollars less, you can get a room overlooking the parking lot, but with a definite mountain view.  I'm not sure the third floor would get you any better of a view, but I am sure that given plenty of advanced planning, you can splurge for one of the cabins or the Watson House and truly experience your money's worth.

The Post Hotel is right off of the freeway and across the street from a gas station.  For all its elegance, we didn't feel like we were in the right place (like in the mountains in a ski lodge).  It was a convenient place to tour around and visit many sites, though.  The amenities were also excellent.

Yes, there is a train issue, yes, some of the rooms have less than ideal views....but none of that matters!  The rooms are comfortable and roomy, and the service is what you expect when staying at a relais-chataux.
There is no reason to eat at any other restaurant in Lake Louise, the Post's dining room is second to none.  (Try the Bison carpaccio and the caribou!!)
The Spa!  Where to start?  Jennifer is a doll!  The services are first rate and really added to the entire Post experience.  While we were in the spa, we ran in to several people who came from the iconic fairmont to enjoy services at the post spa--that says a lot!

Charming lodge feel. Clean and quaint with world class service and amenities. If Lake Louise didn't have so much to offer, I'd be happy lounging here all day.  Despite being nearby a railroad, I slept quite well.

History

Established in 1947

The Post Hotel was in the Hands of a British gentleman and mountaineer until 1978 when brothers Andre and George Schwarz acquired the hotel. A major renovation and expansion in 1987 enabled the Post Hotel to join the Relaix & Châteaux group, which made it being considered an upscale boutique hotel. The addition of a new spa in 2005 completed the services to our guests, many of them frequently returning year over year from all over the world.
