If you stray far enough away from Downtown Brampton, you'll find 20-year landmark Portobello mingling amongst 4 corners of plaza, consisting of Pizza Pizza, Harvey's, Mr. Sub, McDonalds, and Wendy's. Needless to say, you'd want this particular port in a storm at Main and Vodden.

I've been to Portobello a few times, and generally have minimal complaints. Here's the deal:

When you go in at lunch time, they have a very quaint lunch section, that while a tad cramped, is pretty relaxing. At dinner time, they open up the rest of the restaurant, and it's much more classed up and dressy. They seem to be especially great at accomodating large groups. On some nights they also have had live performers, though it has never interfered with the general relaxed atmosphere. The service has always been prompt and courteous.

I'm not entirely sure what the restaurant's hours are, but I do know that they close really early, which has screwed me in the past. "Sorry honey, I know it's 9:30, but they're closed. Wanna hit McDonalds instead?"

As for the food, it has been positive for the most part, though I've had one or 2 sub-par meals, and I've heard others complain about consistency, which is a bummer, because some of their dishes are rather pricey.
I'm a big fan of their fettuccine alfredo, lasagna, veal parm, and chicken marsala. I have yet to try their steak or seafood.
The only dish I flat-out disliked was their Ravioli Portobello. For 15 bucks, it was extremely disappointing and bland.

This is a very solid date spot for lunch or dinner. I just hope their consistency issues are a thing of the past.
