Review from Deanna W.
Porh Pawh was recently added to my roster of lunch spots and I gotta say it's quite the find!
Located in the Spire condo downtown, this tiny cafe offers noodles, soups, salads and sandwiches most of which is made in house. The offerings are healthy, delicious and clean tasting.
I'm a big fan of their chicken soba noodle salad, this is a dreamboat of a salad: napa cabbage, seaweed, cranberries, walnuts, shitakes and roast chicken. Does that not scream healthy goodness? Sometimes when I'm struck by sweet cravings, I'll indulge in one of the baked squares- the walnut date squares with white chocolate is a particular favourite.
The owner is a sweet dynamo who is constantly about preparing lunch for her customers. Yes, this is a one woman show so it's best to call ahead for orders or come during off peak times. Prices are very reasonable given the quality of the ingredients, nothing is above the ten dollar mark. -
Review from Ed S.
Walked in just as the croissants were coming out the oven. The friendly woman behind the counter asked if I'd ever been there (nope!) and if I wanted a croissant (yup!). She selected an almond one for me and it was still piping hot. Got it back to the office and tucked into a crispy, flaky on the outside, soft and warm on the inside croissant w/ just the right amount of almond filling to accompany, but not overpower, the pastry. Paired w/ coffee that didn't need sugar to be drinkable and it was a fine breakfast.
