We visited Pondview back in April on one of the rainier days of the season, but that was alright as the stop inside was so nice that we didn't notice.

Pondview is a small winery in a relatively new, but welcoming space in the Niagara-on-the-Lake region.  Right away we were greeted by a lovely woman, who turned out to be one of the owners.  She was incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and very passionate, which is something I love when visiting wineries as I enjoy learning everything about them.  We carried on a great conversation with her and she just made us feel like we were at home.

We tried the Merlot, which had a strong and full bodied taste.  But, since I am pretty new to reds I can't provide the most detailed review except that I enjoyed it.  We also tasted the Rose and my current favourite, the Gewurztraminer Riesling. Such a tasty, crisp, and flavourful white wine - I am upset that I only purchased 1 bottle.  It possesses a light hint of fruit without being too sweet, a definite try if you drop by!

Overall, we loved our visit to Pondview and wish we had purchased more bottles, so the next time I am in the area I definitely will be stopping by (just like the other reviewer) for more!

I'm not a wine snob so maybe I can't tell the difference between good wine and bad wine. I thought the wines here were ok and we mainly stopped by because it's across the street from Caroline Cellars.  Pondview sells mini bottles of ice wine for about $10. I wish I had bought some for gifts.

Fellow wine lovers, listen up!  I'm putting you all on alert.

Pondview is the best winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Don't believe me?  Try their wine and then try to tell me that this little winery isn't producing some absolutely amazing wine unlike anything else in the region.  The hubby and I found our way into this little gem on a tip from a server at Stratus.  Best tip ever!  The wines here are luxurious and complex and we had a chance to talk to the "Wine King" himself.  I won't tell you what that means.  Check them out to see for yourself.

I hate Pinot Gris/Grigio but Pondview's was so full of flavor while simultaneously remaining light and crisp that I have to admit my thoughts on Pinot Gris/Grigio have been permanently altered.   Permanently.  Altered.

Their Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon taste exactly the way these dark, full bodied wines should--complex, tannic and full of promise.  Aging is not an option with these.  It's a requirement.  You're doing yourself and the wine wrong if you don't.

Last but not least is Pondview's Cab Franc Ice Wine.  In a dark chocolate cup.  Taken like a shot.  Ever wonder what absolute perfection tastes like?  Try a dark chocolate shooter from Pondview.

Anytime I'm in Niagara-on-the-Lake, this is going to be a must see (must taste?   must buy?)  It's simply too good to pass up.
