I have been meaning to come here forever but put it off forever. I am so glad that i finally got here. I didn't make an appointment which i probably should have done but she fit me in anyways.
Soft spoken, approachable, and very good at describing what was needed or wanted from me. She took me to the back room where i sat on a glorified lazy boy, talked for awhile, and got poked. Almost immediately i was relaxed, she poked me in the third eye spot which is known for grounding and relaxation and boy did i feel it! I was there for almost an hour. Fantastic.
I am going back in a few days. What's nice is if your are on goverment premuim assistance $23 is covered for 10 visits a year making your visit free (you do have to mail it in and wait for the refund). There sliding scale seems to be there for that very reason, they don't want you not to come if you have no money. This is what community and taking care of yourself is about. People who care, and won't turn you away especially when you may need it the most.

This community acupuncture clinic brings a sometimes pricey service to the masses with comfort and style. For $20-$40 per session (plus a one time $10 paperwork fee),  your practitioner will work with you to pinpoint (heh!) your particular issue. In my case, acupuncture has been a great help, though I was initially squeamish about needles. Poke's restful and clean setting really put me at ease and the practitioners have a gentle touch.

Allow me to set the stage for you. You will be sitting in one of several comfortable lounge chairs, clothed, with thin needles in your arms, legs, ears and elsewhere for anywhere from twenty minutes to two hours. You may be sipping an herbal tea, smelling the lemongrass scent of the room, checking out the cute yellow decor or nodding off.  When you feel ready, your professional yet warm practioner will remove the needles and you are good to go!

The community nature of the clinic means that you will be setting your own appointments in the schedule book and writing your own receipt, through a neat application of the honour system. It also means that you will share the room with other clients. Somehow, the space manages to feel private and healing, despite the other clients lying about nearby in their relaxed happy places.

The only downside to this ground floor space is that the passing traffic can get a bit noisy. The thoughtful staff have worked around this by playing relaxing music that allows the cacophony from the street  to blend into the background.

    Give Poke a try!
