Every time we come here the food is always consistent, tasty and fresh. Hurray!
Never had a bad experience here. The food is ready to go and you can eat in or take out. It's really great to stop in a bring a snack or dinner to Kits beach to enjoy the sunset.
I really can't resist getting the Masala Roll and a baked potato samosa. And that tamarind sauce is awesome. I always load up!
I think the few people that DIDN'T like this place, didn't get it. They are doing non deep fried, non greasy food here. You NEED to put the tamarind sauce in the Masala wraps and the potato samosa. It gives it flavour and more moisture. If you try to eat it plain it is very dry. It needs the tamarind sauce to taste good. Get TWO of these and use one for the wrap and one for the samosa.
Their samosas are wrapped in a tortilla and this is NOT raw. I don't know who thinks a tortilla is raw, if it was raw, it would be flour and water. Give me a break. Normal samosas are deep fried and very spicy and greasy. These are mild and not greasy. Use the tamarind sauce, it will be fine. Don't pretend it's a samosa, pretend it's a little mashed potato pocket with peas and sauce.
I recently tried their lentil soup. It is delicious and I crave it now. Definitely try it. Very different than other lentil soups I've had it's creamy and delicious.
Nothing deep fried, nothing greasy, tasty and healthy.

It's clean and quick but really not very good. I had the Masala Roll which was simply a tomato tortilla wrap filled with fairly tasteless chickpeas and green peas and weird tiny crunchy noodles. The samosa pastry wrapper was raw and fairly nasty. I was looking forward to a tasty indian meal but it was a disappointment.

I've been a fan for a long time. I love the Original Planet Veg Pita, the samosas and the Basmati rice pot. I bring out-of-towners here ALL the time. It's healthy, tasty and well-priced. A few months ago I would have given them 5 stars. Staff is VERY friendly and welcoming.
My beefs:
1. They microwave the fillings for the Pita. I really wish they didn't, I don't own a microwave because I don't like microwaved food.
2. The incense they burn is really putrid. Don't get me wrong. I love incense. I burn it at home a few times a week. To be fair, I have only experienced the incense once but I have to say it was so potent and yucky that I was choking and waited outside for my food. I was seriously considering not going back because it was so off-putting. Incense and food in such a small area, maybe not such a good idea.
Anyhoo, try it for yourself. It's really good food and value for your money. Pretty quick too. -

I miss you Planet Veg.
This is the greatest place in life for healthy, tasty, "fast" food. I am a huge fan of every roll on the menu, with that spicy chutney on top. Yum. The samosas are untraditional, yet still a treat. The staff is friendly and courteous. This was definitely a staple when I lived in the neighbourhood.
Hey you Kits Point peeps! Be sure to take advantage of this little gem! -

Planet Veg is a 5-star experience for value and flavor. It may not be a full-service dining experience, but if you're looking for fast, healthy delicious food you will not be disappointed.
My regular order is a Kathmandu Roti Roll and a Chai. You can't beat the fresh, crunchy veggies in the roll smothered in the tamarind chutney they provide on every table and their Chai is the best I've had in this city. It's creamy, peppery and fragrant with fresh spices. Be careful, though, it's made fresh and served extra-hot in a stainless steel mug, so don't burn your tongue or fingers. If you're hungry, make the Roti Roll into a combo, which adds a bowl of rice pilaf and a samosa. Or just grab some ice cream as dessert.
The 'Veg' in their name is not a coincidence. This is a fully vegetarian and vegan establishment, but even if you're a pretty serious meat-eater you'll find some hearty food here. -

I am a cheap bastard, but also a frequently-hungry one, so to my chagrin I often find myself looking desperately for a cheap bite to eat when I'm out in the middle of errands. I have to start carrying a survival pack or something!
Anyhow, I came across Planet Veg and was excited by a few things at once: the friendly greeting, the delicious smells, and the menu boasting ridiculously cheap prices (it's not often you walk into any veggie eatery and see dishes in the $4 - $6 range!)
I ordered just one thing, so maybe my review is premature, but I was fairly disappointed...not because it wasn't good, but it wasn't like the menu hinted! The Delhi roll write-up totally led me on. It implied it would be chock full of carrots, peas, rice, chickpeas and all sorts of stuff, for $6. However, as I watched my plate draw near, it looked decidedly un-chock-full. Closer inspection indeed revealed this to be the case. It was basically a chickpea roll with small orange flecks I surmised were carrots.
Oh! And when I was ordering he asked me if I wanted it mild, spicy, or very spicy. I made firm eye contact and emphasized: "VERY spicy, please sir." And what did I get? On the spiciness scale, this was like grandma's spaghetti! This was elevator music! It was top 40 radio! In other words...not spicy at all! Wah!
That being said, the roll was not BAD. No! It was certainly tasty, just I expected more of other things, not just fart-inducing chickpeas (TMI?)
I would go here again and try other things, and next time I will convince them to make my dish as fiery as possible.
I had a sip of my friend's soy strawberry smoothie and it was scrumptious (fresh strawberries FYI). -

I went to Planet Veg twice in the past 2 weeks. The first time I went was for ice cream and IT WAS DELISH! I had the almond ice cream.. it was so velvety and full of calories.. and it had ACTUAL almonds in it. One scoop was about 3.50$. My bf had the mango sorbet and it was great too, it tasted fresh and real.. I was pleasantly surprised.
I also went to Planet Veg last Saturday and had the Original pita. it was AWESOME. It had chickpeas, yam, cucumbers and lots of other veggies i don't remember because I was too busy stuffing my face. The pita was about 6.50$ and with the soft drink it came up to 8.50$.
My bf had the mexican Veggie buger and He loved it. It wasn't too spicey and the patty was veryy tasty and the consistency was similar to beef :)
The place is pretty small, but there's a nice feel to it, so after you're done sun bathing at Kits beach, you can walk to Planet Veg and have a great meal for under 10$. -

I'm a lover of Planet Veg - particularly their Masala Roll, which I have been unable to tear myself away from thus far. Of course, I've had bites of other dishes of friends and they are great too - like the Bombay Roll and the Basmati Pot - but every time I plan to try something new the Masala just calls to me and I cannot but heed its siren song.
On the drinks side, both the Mango Lassi and the Chai tea are excellent. Also, if you're in the area wondering where to buy ice cream or gelato, look no further. They have a pretty decent selection and they are (I think at least) the only place to serve it until you get to Yew St. on Cornwall. -

I can't even like their samosas anymore. It seems they wrap them in tortilla now? This tastes fine for the spinach and tofu one, but the curry potato is just... weird.
I'll walk up to Atithi for my samosas from now on. It makes me really sad to dislike this place, but it seems like they've sacrificed a lot in the way of authenticity and flavour in the last year.1 Previous Review: Show all »

We had the Mexi Burger here....VERY good...5/5. Super fresh veggies on top w/a good spice-kick to it. Chefs have India influence which is reflected in their menu options. Pretty small place with a couple outdoor seats, but not crowded.

This is an all vegetarian casual restaurant with an Indian influence. The spicing perks up the all veggie menu, and offers a nice blending of Indian flavours with healthy West Coast style casual food. I particularly like the pita sandwiches they offer, which use the pita from Pita Star (the best pita in Vancouver!) most of the time (occasionally they just use some store bought brand and then the sandwich suffers). The service is very friendly, and there is a bottle of tamarind sauce on every table to round out the flavours of whatever you order!
