I got my very first tattoo here! I got a small bird made up of musical symbols on my forearm. I brought in a picture of what I wanted, the guy made it smaller and made sure it was the size I want, it was a lot more than I expected it to be, it was $120 and it's no bigger than 2 inches, it's also completely black. Seeing as this was almost double what the last place we visited was going to charge us, I had to sit down for a second and think about it. The guy seemed pretty annoyed I was unsure about it, but I don't care because this was a freaking tattoo, something I'd have forever.
Since I heard great things about this place, and I wanted to be safe, I decided to go for it. Tiffany did my tattoo, she was friendly, and assured me it wouldn't take long at all. She was thorough but I could tell she was trying to be as quick as possible so I appreciate that, she asked me a few times if she needed to stop, which was not necessary (it's not that bad for anyone who hasn't had one). It turned out exactly as I wanted it to, so all in all I'm glad I came here for my tattoo. I also have a friend who got an anatomically accurate heart done here, so I think if you're looking to get something complex done I would not risk going anywhere else. For a simple, basic tattoo you might want to go somewhere a bit cheaper. -

Okay, maybe I have been going through a midlife crisis of late, but recently I have been considering the addition of some badass ink to my body - maybe a celtic design around my biceps. Some friends of mine, of a similar age, have gotten some ink and they actually do look really cool. My friend Joe got his at Planet Ink and totally recommended it as having good artists (who listen!) and a safe, clean environment. I checked out their store on Rideau - and despite the local "characters" hanging around outside, found it to be very professionally run. They definitely did not pressure me to make any choices before I was ready and had lots of advice, in terms of placement/comfort/aftercare. I did not opt to get one at this time (okay, my wife said I couldn't have one!) but when I do grow a pair, this is the place for me.
