I first read about this place in an opinion piece in the 02/06/08 copy of the Philadelphia City Paper and its conveniently located one "El" stop away from my job in Kensington.

The food is hearty, tasty and generously portioned. They have a daily $5.00 lunch special(s)-with 3-4 choices everyday!
I had the pork chops and they were served with a huge helping of beans and rice, just like the Cuban-Chinese restaurants in Manhattan that are dwindling as we speak...
the only minus was the neighborhood; which was referenced in the article...the second I got off the El stop, I was asked if I wanted "powder", then the same guy said "heroin" as if to clarify his earlier remark.
But the neighborhood is safe, unless of course you want to hook up with Mr. "powder"...
