After receiving some rather unexpected good news, I decided I wanted to have an impromptu celebration involving steak. Being bored of the Keg, my gf suggested Pinkys. Having walked past it many times while under renovation, I decided to go with her suggestion.
Turned out not to be disappointed. Atmosphere is very nice and fits with the various $$ restaurants along 4th. My ribeye was excellent and worth the money. But what really helped push this over is the all the extras you can order with your meat that helped push this place past the Keg as my new favorite steakhouse. I can't remember the last time I had the option to add hollandaise sauce to any dish I ordered.
And the service was very friendly. Unfortunately our waiter was not always attentive, which cost this place a star since they were not crowded, but the attitude was nice enough that I was not mad when I had a hard time catching our waiters' attention. -

I feel this should start with a song....
Oh Pinky, you're so fine,
You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Pinky! Hey Pinky!
Oh Pinky, you're so fine,
You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Pinky! Hey Pinky!
Oh Pinky, you're so fine,
You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Pinky! Hey Pinky!
Oh, Pinky what a pity you don't understand
You take me by the heart, when you take me by the hand
Oh, Pinky you're so pretty, can't you understand
It's places like you, Pinky
Oh, what'cha do Pinky, do Pinky,
Don't break my heart Pinky
So, come on and give it to me any way you can
Any way you wanna do it I'll treat you like a man
Oh, please baby please
Don't leave me in a jam Pinky
Oh Pinky, you're so fine,
You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Pinky! Hey Pinky!
Oh Pinkyy, you're so fine,
You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Pinky! Hey Pinky!
Oh Pinky, you're so fine,
You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Pinky! Hey Pinky!
Well the people over at Browns restaurant group have done it again. They offer up an old school steakhouse, big drinks, and no attitude. The idea for Pinkys was inspired from a 1960's steakhouse in Scottsdale Arizona called the Pink Pony. Pinkys embodies classic, simple, and understandable food, drink and atmosphere.
To start we ordered CRUNCHY YAM FRIES with rock salt and jalapeno aioli ...mmmmm for my main I had the 7oz SEASONED SIRLOIN STEAK which was done to perfection. To finish everything off I had their chocolate chip ice cream in a classic metal bowl.
The best part about the restaurant is what I am calling " Pinkys Personal Paradise" .. located down in the basement when your heading to the washrooms is a great space for having parties and gatherings of more than six people. Complete with two dinning tables, glassed in room, and my favorite... private bar! It may have been suggested that this would be a great place to host a reception .. or even and engagement party! who knows.. ;)
p.s Look up when your in the bar...Listed in: Hot spots to eat in Vancouver!

Hankering for something meaty, friends I was hosting from out of town, descended on the dark and quiet restaurant. The menu didn't really excite me in any way, steaks, steaks, steaks -- which I get that that's what they do -- but the pickings were slim on everything else. I settled with sliders and salad.
Sliders change daily and this day's were sirloin. They were good but was bummed with the plain white buns. Am I the only one who thinks whole wheat should be the standard? Luckily the kicky horseradish mayo added flavour, spice and brought these little dudes to life. With only two salads on the menu I picked the non-dragon-breath option: mixed greens Non memorable, well outside of feeling jipped that it was pretty small, yet cost $8.
The best though was picking through the menu for typos. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anal about this stuff, I expect a plethora of mistakes in lower end diners, cafes and of course ramen shops etc, but Pinkys is part of a chain. Surely there is someone who proofreads the menus before printing. So here's my proofreading deed of the day: "Flavor" in one line was "flavourful" in the next (choose between American and Canadian spelling and stick with it) R and B Brewery was "R and B" in one line "Rand B" in the next. Neither is correct, it's "&". Phewf, I feel better now!
I'd give them another shot with their Monday's 50% off menu, perhaps then I'd find the pricing to fit the quality and selection. -

Went here to try out their half-off monday menu, ended up waiting 90 or so minutes for our table. When we finally got seated, we were relieved but consequently the service was mediocre due to the atmosphere of the place. Our waitress was in and out and often times forgetful, which I suppose I can't hold against her considering she was also the bartender.
Ordered a plethora of dishes to feed our drunken, famished bellies. Orders of 16oz cut, seared tuna, kobe beef burger and the halibut was sent out and in a reasonable amount of time, it was presented on our tables. I was pretty satisfied with the taste and quality of their food. Also on the side we had, baked potato, scalloped potato, cauliflower and crab mac and cheese. These sides however, were not good, next time I go, I wlll skip ordering sides all together. The alcohol is resonably prices and the key lime pie is pretty yummy.
After visiting on a Monday and eating that much for that price, why would anyone want to return any other night and pay full price? -

Monday's Cost to Taste Ratio - Seems about right to me.
Tuesday to Sunday's Cost to Taste Ratio - Seems about wrong to me (or just about right for an idiot).
The soup, ribs with baked potato and the bread pudding dessert were great and I would recommend all three. The cauliflower was good and the steak was average. Since this is a restaurant that claims to have a steak aficionado I would hope that their other cuts are better. To contrast, the steak from Pinky's compared to a steak from Gotham's would be like comparing 98 degrees to Backstreet Boys - neither are good for you but one is clearly better than the other.
Since our server was busy working as the bartender I would have to say that the service was exactly what you would expect from that type of situation - rare. All the other tables seemed to have dedicated servers as compared to the upgraded combination of server/bartender that we received. I don't recall tipping the hostess for this upgraded service but I would avoid doing this again.
Paying double for this meal would have been fair, particularly if you substituted the steak with a better cut, but it doesn't make any sense when you can go on Mondays and pay half. Furthermore, this place isn't that good that I couldn't wait a maximum of six days before another Monday rolled around. -

I've been to Pinky's only twice and both times didn't really made me feel like I want to go back in the future. The first time was just after Pinky's opened. Me and my girlfriends went to Noodle Box (next door) for dinner and decided to stop by Pinky's for drinks and dessert. Service was pretty good that time. I got the key lime pie which if I can recall was quite heavenly. Overall, we had a decent (not THE best) time there for a quick drop-in.
The second time I went was for dinner. I got the 7oz sirloin steak medium well done. It came more rare than I would have liked and the only side add-on it came with was one onion ring. They could have at least had a salad or mashed potatoes on the side (there wasn't even an option for that) or even some sauce. I wasn't fully satisfied with the quality and the quantity of the dish especially with the price it came with.
The decor was nice and good for private parties but the waitress didn't seem to genuinely care about the customers. She gave a "forced" kind of feeling.
I wouldn't recommend going if you're looking for high quality, good-tasting food. Maybe for drinks and dessert would be ok. -

Had a nice diner with my husband. The french onion soup is almost better as in french. The first Restaraunt where they dont take your empty plate before the other person is also done. Me as an german - love it.
Prices ok, I thought it is more expensive.
On Mondays all dishes are 50% off, did not try it yet, but will do it soon. The waitress told us, they run often out of food - grazy -

Yep, Monday is the day to go. Yep, earlier the better. Come to think of it, earlier is the only way to go on a Monday. I see the line up at 7pm and i just laugh, because i wouldn't wait. I simply don't wait, not for Pinky's, not for Heaven.
I've been there a couple of times, only on Mondays. The service has always been acceptable/excellent and the drinks on the ball, it's half price, don't go crying when they don't kiss your foot and make you feel ultra special.
It's usually so good that we end up sharing a piece of steak for a piece of ribs, a scoop of ice cream for a shovel full of banana bread.. and we all touch our bellies at the end, feeling like we just survived at Roman food and drink orgy.
After drinking my two margaritas, stuffing down my steak with lobster tail and King Crab legs, i can just laugh at the 45$ bill. ONE thing to remember, it does NOT taste like half price at all.
We always go 6-7 people and always end up in the Vault, pretttty cool.
Oh, the steak comes with only an onion ring and some horseradish (kicking your ass it will... ARGH so spicy yay!) i know, but the steak is high grade quality (learn your cuts) and you should consider investing a little 3$ for some Chimmichuri or Blackened Creole Butter to go with it. If you feel cheap and hungry for some great food, it's the place to go, if you feel cheap and whinny, I'd suggest you go to Sophie's cosmic whatever thingy, so i have a place to sit next Monday. -

Too expensive, too inattentive, and too little portions.
The only thing keeping this review from being a one star is that the food was good. I did enjoy my salad, NY steak, prawns, and green beans - what little there was of it. For the two of us, the bill came out to be around $120. The prawns were $9 (that's $3 a prawn, since you only get 3), and their not-so-tasty desserts were also $9. The person who "greeted" us when we first walked in looked very uptight as if we weren't wearing proper clothing or we shouldn't be in there. Also, our server came by our table so little that I was starting to think I forgot what she looked like. This is a place that looks like it wants to be fancy, but fails in many ways (table cloths were wrinkled, servers were inattentive, food quality to price was not at a good balance, etc.). I wouldn't come back here unless someone gave me a $150 gift card to this place. -

this is place reeks of pretension.
feels like a strip club- only no one is naked and the girls don't pay attention to you. it would be a great place for a successful drug deal or a gangster rendezvous because your sure to be unnoticed.
you get a small, average steak for like forty bucks too. -

Went to this steak house with a group of five....none of us ordered a steak, however the food we did order was FANTASTIC! A couple of chicken dishes, some pasta, and a salad...all spectacular. The atmosphere was really cool, and it's a surprisingly big place.
Service was inbetween. The meal ended up coming before the drinks did, and when they did arrive they were the wrong ones...but the waitress was a sweetie and waved that round anyway.
All in all I'd for sure go back :) -

My high hopes were dashed last night! I'd heard such great things about the food and service at Pinky's and was eager to try it, so I was happy to learn a friend had planned her birthday dinner there for a Monday night. On Mondays, Pinky's offers 50% off on food, so we knew they'd be busy. My friend called ahead a few days to make the reservation for our larger sized group. The hostess on the phone politely informed her that they do not accept reservations on Monday, but to show up earlier and we could be accommodated. Plans were changed and the dinner was moved 5:00pm. We arrived at Pinky's promptly at five and were informed, rather rudely, that we would not be accommodated. Not that they 'could not', but they would not. No apologies were given, just terse, "we are understaffed for a larger group". We left feeling a little put out considering the leg work had been done to inform the restaurant of our plans.
I will probably give Pinky's another try - after all, what steak loving carnivore can pass up a 50% off deal - but the food will have to be pretty darn good to remove the bad taste left in my mouth during my first visit.
