Here's a classic steak house with a reasonably priced menu and a great selection of wines - Pinkys Steakhouse oozes sex-appeal. Sit cozy in their half-moon booths and take in the atmosphere, trimmed with splashes of red flora and accented with damask printed wallpaper. If you only have time for a drink, they have a welcoming circular bar in the center of the room. Needless to say, so up my alley.

Here's the course: You must start off with the Spicy Kobe Meatballs ($12), a side of Scallop Potatoes ($7) and follow up with the 7 oz Steak & Lobster ($40) and finish it off with a fluffy Key Lime Pie ($7). Here's the pre-warning, you're going to have to roll yourself out.

Last stop on a lovely Saturday evening, and everything here was well-executed, especially the ambiance. Gorgeous heated patio, extremely comfortable chairs, excellent food, and I even had absinthe served in the traditional way. Service was friendly without being intrusive.

If the laws didn't prevent the patio from closing at 11:00 pm, I may have stayed for the entire season.

After a failed attempt at getting a table at Tequila Kitchen, a friend and I settled into a cozy booth at Pinky's. The rain was pouring heavily and we were both more than a little damp and in desperate need of an aperitif. While the absinthe was tempting, it proved too strong for our empty stomachs. After ordering a couple of glasses on wine, we both set to scour the menu for something more substantial than simple libation.

Being a steakhouse, there were very few options for me (yeah, I keep doing this to myself) but plenty of choice for my meat-hungry friend. We ordered yam fries to calm our stomachs 'til the arrival of our mains (well, her main, really, since I ended up ordering the stacked yellow tomato salad and a side of mushrooms). Yam fries were good. Nice and crispy though a tad too salty, as was the case with the mushrooms. The salad, on other hand, was lovely. Nice and filling without feeling too heavy. My friend's steak looked good and she seemed happy with its shade of pink.

Nice place, a bit too trendy if you're craving a mellow evening out but still fun.

I give them five-stars on decor, service, atmosphere, but when it comes down to food, they do an OK job. We came here before Cirque-du-Soleil during the summer and sat at the patio, which was really nice. It took a really long time for the food to come after ordering. I ordered a steak salad, and it was the saltiest piece of meat I've ever tasted. Steak is supposed to be their specialty too, and I was pretty excited to try it after reading rave reviews on the Vancouver Magazine. I gave some of my steak to a friend, who said it was unpalatable, so we had it sent back to the kitchen. When it came out again, it wasn't bad. The server was extremely nice about it, and they ended up taking my dish off the bill.

Since Vancouver has so many amazing restaurants to try, I would probably go to all of those before I come back again.
