a very very cool event! totally loved it!
the whole idea with the photocrawl and having the event not in a regular bar but in a store that looks more like a vintage cameras museum was just great and unique!
was very interesting to play around witht he cameras and look at some artsy camera projects.
the snacks and drinks bar were good and plenty.
the people as always awesome and awesome a bit more=)
p.s. hope my photos turned out well!=)) -

A party...in a camera store?.... that was awesome!! Vivek, you did it again. Another great party!
Lomography was cool. I love that there is a market out there for cameras with film. How very hipster and vintage. I love even more that Taylor won the camera since he's going to really appreciate that thing.
As always, great party, GREAT people and lots of laughs. I loved having Anthony K. along with me. I'm positive he'll be pushing to come to more events with me after last night (I've been trying to get him to join yelp for months now...and all it took was a good party).
The Cherry Cola after party was pretty cool too even if we did get kicked out of the yelp elite area for some big deal metal band that I've never heard of (but made 'superman' go a little weak in the knees...Kyuss or something??).
Special props to Dr. L. for sticking it out to the end with us.
See you all next time!Listed in: Yelp Elite Events

5 stars for the PRE-party and 4 stars for the actual party.
Thanks Vivek for organizing the photo-crawl. I had a lot of fun learning about the camera functions and the hipster employees at Lomography were all super cool. I can't wait to see how my photos develop (they are right...waiting to see how the photos develop does make it more exciting!)
Plus, I WON A CAMERA! (I haven't really had a chance to look at it yet because I was drunk off my face last night, but now that my vision is returning to normal I can't wait to check it out).
I love the idea of having an Elite party in a non-traditional venue; I think was the first one that was not held at either a bar or restaurant. Of course it meant that the drinks and food were not quite as exciting as usual, but I still managed to get drunk and that's what really counts!
BIG PROPS to DJ FABIO for giving me a great reason to shake my ass on the dance floor.
Considering the elite party took place in a photography store, I was expecting a lot of great photos to be snapped of us - but there sadly didn't seem to be enough photographers getting busy! -

It was for sure something different to other Elite Events I been to.
I really enjoyed the "Photo Crawl" and thanks for the staffs at Lomography been so patient showing me how to use one of these cool cameras.
Thanks for all the kind souls that shared and fed me all the pop chips, And some of the ones that got me my mixed drinks.... one turned out to be straight whiskey on the rock?!!
This event is perfect if you are on a diet, am I on a diet? ... nibbling on cheese and veggie and crackers.
Thanks Vivek for organizing and Lomography for hosting.Listed in: I love being a Yelp Elite!

Hi!!!!
Great time at Lomography. I feel like I should have spent more time learning about the cameras but I'll be back. There was one covered in wax that I thought might be good.
Someone jackass was going around putting stickers on people's back that said stuff like "I like Urban Spoon", "Beastiality Rocks!", and "I voted Rob Ford"...really immature stuff. 1 out of 5 stars to that jerk.
Vivek is still the best of the best.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL C.!

FUN party!
I love this store, really. The best thing for me was the unbelievable gorgeous loft-style chrome pipe and pine shelving units. I want. Or, the wallpaper comprised of hundreds of photos.. brilliant. The merchandise was fun too, lots of great gifts for photog-friends.
The bartenders were super friendly, and I loved the cheese and veggie platters. I loved that they were there for the nibbling and you didn't have to chase a server around for a bite. Plus, I love veggies. And Pop-Chips. Yum.
So although I won a goodie bag, someone thieved the keychain from it. Heartbroken. Will have to go back and buy one myself.
Shout outs to Fabio, the chunes were bumping. Great Party! Fun times. -

I have passed by Lomography several times and I had no idea what it actually was until this event. It is conveniently located right next door to the salon where I get my nails done every week! Kinda nifty, huh?
As I have been newly crowned elite I was attending this shindig as Elaine K's +1. Thank you Elaine for the invite!! I think you are the awesomest and I'm so glad we had the chance to catch up!!
I have to say this party was made amazing for me for the simple reason of the stellar ladies I finally met in person!! Zoe R, you are a beacon of positive energy and congratulations on your soon-to-be-here bundle of joy!! Sara K P, words do not describe how amazing you are, don't ever change a thing about you!!
The venue was interesting, I really had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The layout of the layout of the store made it easy to mingle and didn't feel overly crowded. The drinks had cute names and were super yummy! I saw that there were some coats thrown over the racks of t-shirts hanging on display and I thought at first maybe this was an art-nouveau sort of creative sculpture piece, and then I realized that people had actually just thrown their coats over the racks of t-shirts hanging on display. Silly me!
I heard rumours of this photo booth that was supposed to be there, however I didn't actually see it, that was a slight disappointment as getting some pics taken would've been fun!!
And I do have to mention, Tony F and Karl R, you were both sorely missed!!
I can't wait for the next elite event which will be my first attending as an elite!! The question now I face is who will be MY +1?????Listed in: Places I Have Been With Other…

Most hipster event ever! Old school cameras, PBR and skinny pants as far as the eye could see.
I loved the music (Fabio diving under the table to dance was a great touch) and it was great to finally meet Sara K. P. and Zoe R. in person!! I also loved the mini photo class and photo walk, though I wish we had longer than 10 minutes!
Somehow the bathroom line was manageable, even though there was only one, and pop chips are always a winner (until you try to save half a bag in your purse, only to have it upend and spill all over the place)
The after party at Cherry Cola was also great as was the turnout. -

My fiance and I were visiting from California (The OC) and we decided to check out this event while we were in town. I'm very glad that we did. I felt right at home sipping on PBR and Maker's Mark, but what made the night was the friendly Toronto hospitality. I only wish that I had had the chance to meet more Toronto Yelpers.
Thanks for the nice welcome. I hope I'll see some of you at Orange County events if you're ever in the area. -

And Vivek gets a home run!
I've been away from Toronto all summer long and it is so good to be here again! Getting to see everyone and be welcomed back into the fold was my favourite part of the night. Also, I got to meet the new Yelp intern- Vivek, I approve!
What a venue! I'm accustomed to the darker bars and restaurants for Elite Yelp events but I also like when a bright event is thrown into the mix. I can see everyone! Lomography should do this more often. I was kind surprised at how much they trusted us Yelp folk, leaving camera upon camera just out and about. Don't they know this is an open bar event?? Oh well, more for me to play with!
I loaded up on the cheese, cracker and dip station and it was just what I needed to tide me through the event. Also tiding me through? The drinks! Sad that I missed the SkinnyGirl margarita drink but happy there was beer and vodka drinks to take over. A lovely fellow-redheaded bartender was so nice AND willing to make my drinks with a heavier hand. Hey, don't judge. This girl doesn't want to spend the whole night in line for more drinks so I just got two for the price/wait of one.
Once again, great seeing everyone! I brought a friend and soon to be (elite?) yelper along and we had a fabulous time. My night included meeting new people, getting an unsolicited apology, bonding in the washroom line and buzzing around from place to place to see you all. Only thing is I'm still rattled that I didn't win that raffle; the prizes looked amazing!
So keep on keepin' on, Yelpies! I'll see you next time. -

I loved this venue and I thought it was perfect for a party. Granted, not all the perks that it could have given it was a store not a restaurant, but Vivek, you did an awesome job of making it a great party!
The food table was never empty and always full of my FAVOURITE POP CHIPS. And drinks were good too (except that I only had one :)
The Venue was unique, and I loved the pre-party where we got to play with these camera and then be able to speak intelligently to other Yelpers that asked me about them.
What I would have liked was more direction (from the venue) about how I had to develop it myself, how much it costs and the options. I also wished they told us more about the Camera's on display and what this silent auction was all about.
OTHER THAN THAT, my plus one (her first yelp party!) had a great time, and loved chatting with familiar faces.
HAPPY BDAY MEL C.

Fantastic venue. It was nice to party at something other than a restaurant/bar. Granted, you lose out on kitchen facilities and there was only one washroom, but it was nice to have something different. Lots of things to look at, enough space to float around and chat with friends. With the DJ going there was definitely a different vibe going than the usual elite event.
I stuck with the bottles of PBR, and they served me well. Props to Kent P. for showing up my double-fisting with an armful-worth of brews; next time keep that guy away from the name-tags though - he's dangerous.
Good job VIVEK, and also new intern Katlyn - did a particularly good job keeping out the riffraff.Listed in: Elite Events

Loved it, loved it, loved it!! This store brings me back to the 'good old days' of having time to be creative and using 35mm film in the free plastic camera I got as a promotion for buying underwear. I can't believe those Diana plastic toy-like cameras used to be made in Hong Kong! Makes me proud.
The photo crawl was great fun. I never knew that graffiti alley was so close by. The lesson was very helpful. The staff super unpretentious and knowledgeable. We should totally do more yelp events like this with activities to explore a store's product, ideas, and the city! Now that I know Lomography exists in Toronto, I'll definitely be poking my nose in whenever I'm in the area.
The drinks were sweet, and we really enjoyed the rare healthy options in snack food. The music was loud and fun. Can't wait to develop and see the results of whatever it is that I shot during the photocrawl. -
Review from Eric L.
Although bars usually make awesome events, I was surprised with this unusual elite event spot. This event was all about the people. Being a smaller venue with a lot of lighting, you had a good chance of bumping into everyone and catch up. We had lots of fun checking out all of the cameras and talking with some real photography pros.
Only question: Where was the photo booth!? Quite ironic given the location of this party.
In any case, good job by Vivek for thinking of this event and getting it together. Even better job of calling out an after party at Cherry Cola's! -
Review from Roma M.
A cool event at an offbeat location.
Surprisingly, it was easier to move around and meet new Yelpers this time around. Shoutout to Fabio for adding that extra 'spin'/adding some beats to the random photo shoots. Also, the entire Yelp staff was fantastic.
Also, the drinks were awesome.Listed in: Elite Event Congregations

I'm giving five stars to both the pre-event photocrawl and the event itself!
I love that the event was in a non-traditional venue, and yes as people have mentioned it does mean less exciting food, but hey, I love a good cheese platter!
The photocrawl before was both informative and interesting, as ever since I returned from Europe I have been wondering what the hell Lomography is (it's everywhere there!) and by the end of the night I really wanted a camera, but Lauren M. was the lucky winner (congrats!) I'm really happy I wasn't drunk enough to think it was a good idea to buy a camera myself, but I was just drunk enough to want to get my pictures developed (I bet they're terrible!)
My one negative of the night: PLEASE we need more than one bathroom at events with open bars!!!!
It was great to see everyone, and hopefully see you all at the next event! -
Review from Patrick M.

We need more events like this one, be they at chic shops or cool galleries -- we all love restos and cafes and bars and what-have-you, but it's great to meet and mingle in a more culturally relevant venue!
I've been a lomo fan for years, and Heather -- my +1 and lovely gf -- learned that she actually owned an Action Sampler many years ago... didn't know it was a lomo camera! She'd absolutely DEMANDED her mom order it for her from some catalogue or another, and it was dear to her for a long, long time.
This event rekindled her looooove of lomo! Now she's trying to decide which camera she wants most. (I'm thinking a Diana Mini at least, so she can tote it around in her purse for true spur of the moment action!)
But just one question: was there a photo booth hiding in plain sight??? I thought I was gonna get a chance to pimp my profile pic, but aside from some roaming lomographers I didn't see any place to sit down and goof off for the lens. Huge bummer, as this was the #1 thing I was looking forward to :(
C'est la vie... the rest of the night was fun, save we had to bow out gracelessly (my stomach was pulling the "I hate you" thing, had been all day, but I put on the brave face and tried to kill the pain with alcohol -- it didn't work, but I gave it my best shot!).
Also, I had to bid on the art piece by Melissa auf der Maur. I've had a crush on her since, like, 1996 or something. Wicked! -
Review from Yvonne T.
I was looking for the event on Yelp but I guess nobody created one. Alas, Denise beat me to the FTR. Yay Denise!
Thank you Vivek for hosting such a wonderful event. Although I was not lucky enough to get in on the Pre-Event Photo Crawl, I had a great time. This was the first Yelp event I attended that was not at a bar or restaurant and I thought it was extremely neat!
Drinks were tasty. I tried everything - the Local, the Fstop and Lens Flare, but I passed on the Blitzer (shot) and Pabst Blue Ribbon (beer). Pop Chips, cheese and veggie platters were great munchies to go with our drinks.
New Yelp swag too! Candies? Has anyone tried these yet?
I was absolutely mesmerized at the different types of cameras available that could really jazz up your photos! And then of course, there were the Michaelangelo-esque cameras that were available for bidding. Somebody really wants that Army Man one as the bid was already up to $300.
Looking forward to the next event!Listed in: God Yelp me!

Analogue is back (??????). What I remember about Russian Cameras from another era altogether. This is a very interesting concept and the 'gallery' aspect was very appealing. The 'output' is only limited by your imagination and your creativity. The place is stylish and very welcoming.
All in all very very interesting.
The vibe was excellent and we could carry out conversations, which was extremely pleasant.
We were warned that the food was going to be on the 'light' side...and it was.
A novel and interesting venue...With regards to product pricing these cameras are more expensive than the original Russian cameras were. The TLR was about 3 times the price of Yashica Mat TLR with about 1/2 the functionality. This does not appear to be a self sustaining business pricing model.....but who is to say...its quite hip.
Thanks Vivek for an interesting out-of-the-box venue and soiree. -
Review from Tara A.
I had the pleasure of attending the Lomography Elite event last night. I really loved going to an event that wasn't in a restaurant setting for a change. When walking into this store, it's not hard to get sucked into this world. The bright beautiful photos, the unique personalities of every camera, the set up alone is superb.
I can't help but feel this form of photography is in jeopardy as Iphone apps become more and more developed but there is a feeling of nostalgia with the idea of shooting film. When I thought about what my photo albums would look like with a fish eye and Diana lens it made me laugh. I always look through my parent's albums and laugh at the quality.. What will the next generation this of us.. I digress.
With that being said, this store is a novelty but a unique one at that. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and really believe in the product they are selling.
I'm planning a road trip over Christmas and perhaps one of these cameras will be my accessory. -

Yes, FTR!! I think this was the first Elite event held at a venue that isn't a restaurant or bar! The Lomography event was unique and lots of fun! My +1 Winnie and I enjoyed checking out all the funky cameras and Lomography city guides. Even the shopping bags look like cameras! So cute. Drinks were tasty. I was partial to the orange grapefruit cocktail (forgot the name). Although I wished there was more food aside from veggie & dip and cheese & crackers, it was totally understandable given the venue. And really, it's the people that make the event, and there were lots of great peeps out tonight:) I wasn't able to go on the photo crawl, but can't wait to see the pics (are they going to be on flickr?). Thanks, Vivek for a cool party!!

Review from Rafi N.

Pimp Your Profile Pic At Lomography was an okay event. The food was just snacks and the drinks could have been better. The location was interesting. It was nice to see everyone.
*** FOOD & DRINK ***
There were a variety of snacks served at a small table. The snacks were mostly crackers, cheese and some vegetables. These snacks were rifled through by people who came earlier. There were also Pop-Chips, which was a safe bet since they're packaged and came in a variety of flavors.
The drinks were okay at best. Pabst beer is probably one of my least favorite. The mixed drinks were either okay (tequila) or way too sugary.
*** SERVICE ***
Service as always was great. Upon entering, I was greeted by very sociable staff. When I got my drink, I was helped by the servers as to which drink to choose. I also met a Yelp employee in training who was very friendly.
*** ATMOSPHERE ***
The venue was kind of small and had a lot of analog style cameras on display. I had to walk around with caution so that I wouldn't damage anything. Most events have an elaborate photo booth, but this one didn't. It struck me as being odd since Lomography is all about photography. The "photo booth" that was there, was simply a guy with a camera and a small whiteboard. The music was good and at times was a little too loud for such a small place. Lomography wasn't prepared to handle such a large crowd, especially one where all the people were drinking. There was only one washroom (one toilet) and everyone had to line up to use it. It is nice to have an event at a location other than a bar or restaurant. I would like to suggest Walmart as the next event venue. Racing carts down the aisles would be a lot of fun.
*** PRICE ***
You can't go wrong here... Free!
*** EXPERIENCE ***
I had a good time at this event because there were lots of people to talk and hang out with. Though the food and drinks weren't great, they were plentiful and free. The service was great, but the location wasn't suitable. I've been to many other events that were much better than this one. However, this event was okay. -
Review from Dishan W.
A big 5 star to the pre part photocrawl, it was great to play around with "old" camera's again and just be reminded about things like double exposing your film, or making sure that the roll of film does not come off completely when you take it out/put it in.
The elite party however was not as amazing as some of the last ones that we've been lucky enough to have, I have unappreciated having someone serving food at events over us having our own plates to pile up on. It means you can only eat or drink at a time! At an elite event I feel it is best to have food in hand and a drink in another :)
While the food was not too fancy, I appreciate the fact that we didn't run out and understand that this event was more about the actual space than the food or drink we got served up. My favourite drink was "The Local" and the "fstop" was a fav too which I assume is the reason behind it running out mid-party.
Would have obviously liked to catch up with more of you lovely elites, but those fancy cameras around the place did have me distracted for a good while. I'm glad I didn't get too drunk because I might have gone overboard bidding for 1 or 2 of those cameras I really would have liked to own!
Overall, thanks again Vivek for a very unique party experience! Can't wait for more :D
I'm very excited that I will get a chance to go back to collect my roll of film and see my inner artist come out in my film! -
Review from Tara Z.
Very cool venue, though the more I drank, the more worried I became about smashing something expensive--eep! It was a great space for mingling, though--lots of room to move around and good lighting so you could actually read the nametags of the people you were talking to. Fun party for sure.

Hey, is it fair to review an event that you've helped make it happen? If so, it was awesome. And that DJ? OMG, BEST DJ EVER. ;-)
