I went with a group of eight, which in my opinion is normally hellish, but I had a really positive experience at Pierre Loti.  The atmosphere is kind of romantic.  It's pretty dark and since it was so nice out they opened the front of the restaurant so it was pretty much open to the street.

Before we ordered they brought warm pitas and olive oil w/ olives in it, which were really delicious.  We got several different bottles of wine for the table.  The waitstaff seemed to know all the answers to my friend's obscure wine questions (one of the questions being: is the white wine made in an oak or steel barrel?) so that was cool.

We got a ton of dishes since there were so many of us:
Hummus - big enough portion for eight to share and was really good
Truffled Deviled Eggs:  Pretty good, but I'm not really a deviled egg pro as I only just started eating them
Pierre Salad - chopped cucumbers and tomatoes w/ yogurt sauce, was pretty good, but I probably wouldn't have picked it on my own
Tuna Tartare - The tuna was good, but it was almost overpowered by a guacamole-y like substance and chopped tomatos
Cheese plate (we got all 7 cheeses): was awesome and came with some yummy jelly

I got the grilled branzino w/ mixed greens as my meal.  The presentation was different than I normally have seen.  It was a filet and I'm accustomed to it being a full fish, but it was really good regardless.  Everyone else seemed to also enjoy their main courses.

Oh also, for the eight of us to get all those appetizers, four bottles of wine and an entree it was only $40 each!

The wait staff was very attentive, patient and friendly.  I would go here again and recommend others give it a try.

My only criticism is that the menu seems pretty out of order.  It starts with salads/tapas/entrees and then the next 3 pages are wine, the next page explains all the cheeses for the cheese platter, the following page the same for the meat platters, and then dessert is on the back.  I think it would be easier for the customer if the meat/cheese plate pages were first, followed by salads/tapas/entrees, followed by desert and then followed by wine.

Hate to bash this place, because the staff is really great, but the eats are seriously lacking in the edibleness department.

The charcuterie seemed to have been prepped hours (days?) in advance; I honestly had to cut the Brie with a knife and fork, and still can't believe I didn't send it back.

Grilled calamari was certainly not fresh, and almost certainly not grilled, given the lack of any char and the puny size of the rings. The portion was also tiny - the attractive prices at Pierre Loti don't seem so sexy after you get a load of the petite plates.

Bulgur wheat / lamb fritters were, by themselves, quite tasty. Avoid the sauces on the side, especially the tomato condiment, which really is reminiscent of Pace Picante.

Wine list is respectable and reasonably priced, but the cocktails are $14, which is truly bogus. I'll pay $10, even $12 for an artisan drink, but at some point you have to draw the line.

So yeah, wish 'em the best but won't be back.

Food was decent but service was slow and I found the server to be annoying - after we waited for 30 minutes just for the hummus and drinks, I finally asked the server if we could at least get the drinks, he tried to be smart and "funny" by saying that special drinks take a long time to make.

Cocktails cost $14. My friend got "The Istanbul" (Knob creek, fresh squeezed lemon juice, honey, peychaud`s bitter topped with home made ginger beer.) The first one was so good that they ordered two more of the same drink. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The drinks were totally watered down and was not worth anything close to $14.

We got hummus, cornish hen, and grilled calamari. They were all decent. Not great but not terrible either. Portions were rather small.

I would not go back here.

Given all these other positive reviews, I must have just come on really off night. I'll try to keep it brief so as not to waste too much more time on this experience.

Our waiter came to the table exactly 4 times within 2+ hours. And each time I had to flag him down. I watched our drinks sit on the bar for a good 10 minutes before the manager had to finally grab the waiter and tell him to bring them to us. Our food didn't come for another 40 minutes, and when it did the meat was overcooked. My guess was that it was cooked just fine initially, but that again our waiter left it sitting in the window for too long--until I again flagged him down and asked him why it was taking so long.

We tried to order the chocolate truffles for dessert (from the manager...don't know where our waiter went at this point), and we were told they didn't have them. We settled on the chocolate bon bon that the manager recommended and the coffee creme brulee.

30 minutes later...I flag down our waiter yet again, as I could not get the manager who took our dessert order to look at me. He says he'll check on our dessert. He comes back and gives us spoons and napkins. 5 minutes later, he comes and tells us that they don't have the chocolate bon bon.

ARE. YOU. SERIOUS?! Obviously we got the check (which miraculously appeared immediately), and got the hell out of there.

Otherwise, the food was just okay...the Grenache I ordered was probably one of the best wines I've ever had, but this was one of the worst service experiences EVER.

This is a cute, quaint, and crowded spot that I can see as a nice date spot. Mediterranean style tapas are the majority of the menu, and pita bread is served on the house. The service is very sweet.

On the menu I would recommend the Zucchini Walnut Pancakes and the Striped Bass (the heirloom tomatoes that come with it are truly divine). The carnivores at my table were raving about the Turkish Beef Dumplings too.

Prepare to just split the bill evenly, since that's how people normally roll at tapas spots.

I was looking forward to visiting Pierre Loti, having tread the reviews here and the restaurant's web page. I expected a wine list with 30 to 40 wines by the glass, but found there were only about a dozen (not bad wines, just not much selection). The wine list by the bottles was also short, but had good wines at great prices.

I wish I could provide a review on the food, but half of our order never arrived. We had a three-cheese, two-charcuterie plate, all of which were great and paired well with the wines we had ordered. But our second set of plates never made it and we asked for the check finally. The waiter offered us a free desert (fresh fruit topped cheesecake and it was awesome), finally but since that was only his third appearance at our table that night, it should not be surprising that we found the service to be awful-by-way-of-non-attentive. Like the review by Meredith F., we had to go find the waiter on two occasions. He offered us a very weak excuse for the poor service.

Overall a very disappointing evening. Maybe the east side location has a better wine list, but I doubt we'll ever give it a try.

I tried out pierre loti last week with a friend and was so pleased to find this charming little place. It's not on a main street, so it was actually quiet on a Friday night! That alone will keep me coming back. We sat and talked over a bottle of wine and a few tapas and it was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, without hovering. The food was good. We only had three tapas; one great, one good and one mediocre. There are plenty of more options to try out next time. A great place to catch up with a friend and have a little nosh.

Small, cute restaurant with a lively staff and clientele.  Warm space (meaning comforting), interesting food, and some nice drink options.  I was here on a Friday night on a date, and it was a nice spot.

We had a number of plates, and my favorite was probably the lamb.  Least favorite was probably the octopus/calamari.

One dish that we ordered (out of about 8) never appeared, but did appear on the bill.  When we commented, they offered the food and did not offer to take it off the bill.  Quite surprisingly bad service, in my opinion.

Made a dinner reservation for 9 people.  Got to the restaurant early so went to have a drink at the bar.  Right in front of me the bartender violently sneezed into both hands...and then went on bartending (hands in glasses, etc).  Never washed.  I'm no germaphobe but that was gross.  I got a bottled beer.

Once seated, we had to wait nearly 20 full minutes before a waiter even came by (after we badgered the busboy a couple times to grab somebody).  Another 15 minutes after that to get the wine we ordered.  Seriously, waiting 35 minutes for drinks is just too long and its really not that large a restaurant so we were confused why the waiters were so unavailable.

That all said, the food was tasty and we ended up having a nice meal.  The manager apologized for the service afterward.  I also let him know about the sneeze.  Your experience may well be better and its a cute place but you've been warned about service.

The service was very polite (as in, they were almost too lenient about letting us sit around without ordering anything for a while).  The meat dumplings were better than the ones my Turkish office auntie made for us when I worked in Istanbul, and beet salad was also especially delicious.  We had a couple of other dishes as well, and enjoyed all of them.

I'm giving this place four starts because the customer service by the entire staff was totally outstanding!
We had a reservation for four, but called about 15 minutes prior saying we were going to be late, and there would be a 5th person. Their response: No problem! Once we arrived half of our party (those of us in the good cab) were seated, No Problem! And we waited for the others. Then when we paid the bill with four different credit cards, it was again, No Problem!
The food here is good, but nothing spectacular. The portions on some of the small plates were very small; this made it difficult to share things amongst five people.
The space is really cute. This looks like a great place to go for a quick drink and a snack at the bar.

If you're looking for a quaint, cozy, charming, low-lit bar in which to imbibe too many glasses of mulled wine, this is your place.  If you're looking to split a cheese/meat place while you do so, skip it.  They were either out of 1/2 of the cheeses, and the meat choices they brought did not look like anything we ordered.

It was not terrible, but it was so off (we ordered chorizo, proscuitto and some other meat and got salami, no proscuitto and something else) that I can't give more than the 3 I'm giving.

    What a treat!

I needed a place that was close to Meatpacking but not overly expensive and portentous - the menu at Pierre Loti looked good and the reviews were decent so I went there for dinner with my girl friends.  The place was cute and cozy and I had no problem getting a table through Opentable on a Thursday night.  Best part of all, we checked-in on foursquare and all got a free glass of nice wine!

The four of us shared 6 dishes: tuna tartare (nice portion), grilled octopus (the salad part was better), lamb chops (nicely done), pan seared jumbo sea scallops (usually not a big fan for scallops but I loved this dish), stripe bass (another good dish) & pan seared duck breast (meat was very tender).  Overall, the experience was great and the servers were very friendly.  With all that food and the bill only came out to be $25pp including tips.

I first visited here a few years ago when I stayed in the apartment above with my family for spring break. My father and the owner of the restaurant became quick friends and we ate there several times during our visit.

This time around I came for a concert at the Highline Ballroom for my birthday and was looking around for somewhere with a cozy Mediterranean feel. We found Pierre Loti and came inside. I suddenly realized that I had been here before! We were seated and the owner came out and recognized me! We had a lovely chat and they even brought out a delicious creme brulee for my birthday on the house as well as jellies, custard and fresh fruit for my friends. The rest of our meals were delicious and I can't wait to go back again! We also had exceptional service (our waters were refilled every few minutes !).

Thanks so much for a wonderful birthday dinner!

I attended this place during a http://GrubWithUs.com meal. It's a great little spot right off the A,C,E, and L trains. It's a great atmosphere even though the lights went out above our table a few times in the evening. The food was delicious although it was slow service. I'm not if it was because we were a large party but everyone was very friendly. I highly recommend this place for a date night but do plan on staying awhile!

Went here for a bday dinner group of 9 and the price was just right! 3-4 bottles of wine, entrees for everyone and hummus for apps and it came out to $40/pp!! The duck i ordered was good, but the portion was a little too small.

There is an alcove in the back which i recommend for a bday dinner. It was on a Wed night and the place was only half full so it was perfect. Live music was a bonus.
i'd come back for a large group meal and for the affordability! If you want a romantic date, this place is suitable too.

I was so looking forward to dinner with friends at this place - menu looked great, pics of the place looked great - but I was disappointed.

Service was incredibly slow - which I could forgive if the food had been amazing - it wasn't. We ordered a heap of things to share:
hummus, taramasalata, meat patties etc. Grilled haloumi cheese salad was a bit light on the actual cheese - albeit the salad it sat on was tasty. Scallops were very average and overpriced at 2 for $16. Calamari average. The patties were tasty as was the hummus.
I felt that the prices of the dishes overall were a little steep for the quality/quantity.

Desserts (crème brulee, peach sorbet and panacotta) were only so-so. Of the three the panacotta won.
Ambience was just what I was expecting: rustic, dim-lighting, buzzy but could still hear ourselves speak.

I'd go back again for a drink at the bar - my partner was very happy with his house white. And happy hour from 4-7pm is attractive.

Just wouldn't go back for dinner.

I came here again recently and a cockroach scurried past my feet while I was in the bathroom. This did not make me look forward to eating my meal, as I believe the bathroom shares a wall with the kitchen. I like this place a lot but they really need to clean up their act in the sanitation department. They're so close to being superb, if they would only make sure the exterminator does his job.

Great service, great food. I acknowledge this is tapas but it is still a bit pricey for what it's worth. Some dishes cost the amount of a decent entree while being smaller than my fist. But if you must go, I would definitely try their caviar as well as the tuna tartar.

Creamy hummus topped with shavings of warm beef pastrami?  Refreshing, generous glasses of sangria?  Sign me up.

Sitting outside on a perfect summer evening at Pierre Loti was a great finale to the sensory overload that was the McQueen exhibit at the Met earlier in the day.  Attentive and friendly service, reasonable prices, and generous portions - these are the kinds of things that cynical non-New Yorkers don't expect to find in Manhattan.

The Bosnian meatballs were a savory treat, accompanied by a warm bed of rice and a refreshing white bean salad.  The place was lively due to the grand opening of their additional seating, and I imagine with such a great experience only more people will be discovering Pierre Loti.

I can't wait to return the next time I'm in Manhattan!

This is my go to spot if I want to grab a glass of wine with a girlfriend or take out of town guests to a nice dinner. Those people shouldn't be allowed to run a restaurant. If you are allergic to anything, don't even think about it, you might end up in the hospital...

I went there because I wanted a quite place so I could enjoy diner with my grandmother. She really liked the food and I did too. It wasn't anything special and it was a little over priced but we were having a good time until....
I found an aliment in my plate that I am seriously allergic to while I told them about this about 4 times while ordering. They did't apologize, made my grandmother pay for the whole meal and I spent the whole next day in my bed....and missed a very important day of work.
When I called the manager to notify him of what happened, he laughed at me and called me a liar...

Came in for drinks and snacks last Thurs night before a dinner. 4 stars for the decor and ambiance: it's actually more spacious than it looks from the outside. Our server was also very attentive and rather eager to help us choose our apps. Ordered the grilled calamari, cheese rolls, and lamb ribs; all of which were quite delish but the servings were smaller than I'd anticipated. Yes, I realize they're apps, but I've been to many places where ordering 3 or 4 apps for two was more than sufficient. Here, the munchies hit again within half an hr of us leaving Pierre Loti. I'll likely go back for the drinks. Oh, and the bathroom was literally the size of a broom closet: as in, one can only flush the toilet by reaching back, not by making a full turn towards the handle.

We decided to meet a few friends here last night.  When we got there our reserved table was waiting for us even though we weren't all present, but once we were seated no one bothered to come by to take our drink order.  We had to flag them down and get their attention to swing by our table.
With all the friends present and the attention of our server we began our drinking and feasting for the evening:
First of all we all fell in love with their pita - they have to have made it in house - it's that good.
The drinks were really tasty and we couldn't get enough of them.
For dinner we shared the tuna tartar which was very bland, the grilled octopus (was charred to death), the zucchini pancake (now THAT was an amazing dish), the scallops (cooked perfectly but alas - only 2 to an order), the lamb chops (chewy and overcooked, thank god only two to an order), the duck breast (not a fan of duck so i didn't even try it, but the friends polished it off so i guess it was good) and last but not least the branzino (nothing out of this world but tasty none-the-less).
We felt the service was great once we all got started but funny enough they kept apologizing for bringing out the dishes too slow (honestly we didn't notice).  We felt that we were able to take our time, eat, drink and enjoy each other's company without having someone constantly looking to turn over our table.  they did make a mistake with our check so do pay attention to it, but once we pointed it out they graciously fixed it and comp'd us a drink to boot.
Was the food amazing? no.  we had decent food.  But with the relaxed atmosphere and good friends all around, the friendly staff and non-pushy atmosphere, I can see myself returning to this place again.

I love this place and the staff here. Super small restaurant, but the food is fantastic. There's a salad with grilled fresh white cheese, figs and something else that was awesome. The scallops are perfect, and even something as simple as hummus was great - they serve it slightly warm with almost naan-like pita, some beef (we asked for olives instead) and tomato. They also do bottle service, so if you want to save a few bucks, bring your own wine. It tastes better here anyway.

Oh, did a birthday dinner here (that's how I fell in love) and they'll seriously work with you to get a good group rate. They gave me half off - alcohol and all.

Came here based on decent yelp reviews but regretted that decision. Service was slow, had to go find waitress twice bc she somehow forgot us (place isn't big so don't know how that could happen) and they brought appetizer and meal out at same time. So much for timed presentation. And lamb was overdone. Manager was attentive to our concerns and did adjust our bill accordingly. He blamed a post work crowd. To me, crowd volume was typical of what any other NYC restaurant would experience so why that flummoxed them is peculiar.

This is a super romantic, cozy neighborhood spot. The hummus is great (not the same as Greek hummus), lebni is awesome, and I am addicted to the phyllo cheese rolls. I haven't been to the other two Pierre Loti locations but this one in Chelsea. Great wine list and the waitstaff is helpful, welcoming and attentive. I don't even live in Chelsea, but this is worth the trip. The custom cocktails are also phenomenal.

Cute, romantic place, very friendly service. A bit cramped, but not necessarily in a bad way.

The menu is meat heavy, not with steaks, but with interesting items like a Bosnian meatball dish.

The menu is short, which I generally appreciate - though now what I've tried everything, I wish they would rotate in some new items. Or maybe do a better job with the specials, which sometimes sound good, but which generally haven't tasted as good as they sound.

The food is often too salty, but overall is pretty good, though the ambiance and service is why we come here regularly.

The prices are fair. For what it's worth, they have a sign that says they'll close and cook for private parties - might be a fun thing.

Came by here for a small snack - had some wine and some hummus.  Both were excellent...I had a Chardonnay and they had a really nice one.  So they get 4 stars, because with Chardonnay's, it can go 1 of 2 opposite directions...  :P

Cute wine bar. Got the cheese plate, and it came with pita and somewhat cheap tasting grape jelly.  I couldn't be disappointed if I visited here again, but I probably wouldn't seek it out either.

I organized my birthday party here and the restaurant owner was amazing. We got a great deal 35 per person food and drinks. The food was delicious. The Bosnian meatballs and tofu dish were both very good.
The space is very nice both for parties and romantic dates.

I will definitely be back again and again. The owner, Ishmal was a pleasure to work with. If you go tell them Jason sent you and he'll hook you up.

As a multi-year resident of lower Chelsea, I've been looking for a cozy, neighborhood wine bar for a long time.  Thankfully, Pierre Loti appeared on the scene in late 2009.  It's located in a great little space near the corner of 15th St and 8th Ave with a 6 person bar, a few outdoor tables and a long row of indoor tables.  The space is very intimate, but it spills onto the street in a very welcoming way.  The owners (Ismael and Orhan) are pretty awesome guys, and one of them is there nearly every night.  I walk by the place on the way home from work every day, and it's impossible not to stop and chat - they're that friendly and hospitable.  I've actually met fellow neighbors at Pierre Loti through the owners - talk about connectors.  Needless to say, I really like the guys and the team they work with.

As for the restaurant itself, the menu has evolved since they received their liquor license in late 2009.  It is now very reasonably priced, making it the perfect spot to drop in for a weekly evening food & wine night.  It's also great for a quick glass of wine and snack before a night on the town in the Meatpacking, West Village or Chelsea.  The appetizer highlights are the hummus plate, grilled calamari and the halloumi cheese.  My mouth is watering just typing about them.  The grilled quail, bosnian meatballs and sea scallops are my main course faves.  All appetizers are under $9 and all but one main course are under $19 with many in the $12-15 range.  And the Turkish rice makes a great sub-$4 side to any meal.

Stop by - you've got a pretty good chance of seeing me there!

Had dinner with friends at this place and we all loved it! Pierre Loti is a cozy, well-decorated restaurant with lots of ambiance (I came with friends but this could definitely be a nice place for a date), and the food is good too! Portions are perfect -- not too big to be stuffed, but definitely not too small to be left wanting.

I had the Bosnian meatballs as suggested by other Yelp reviews -- they're basically sausages (and I guess they've changed the menu recently because they're now described as veal sausages online), but it's the accompanying white bean salad  that steals the show. That was one of the freshest, most delightfully refreshing servings of food I've ever had. All in all, Pierre Loti is a great combination of ambiance, food (both quality and presentation) and good service, so I will definitely be coming back!
