Best new york style pizza you will find in seattle. Probably not the best pizza in seattle but if you are craving the large thin slices this place is the place to go. Also they do half pies and pizza by the slice of anything your desire.
Also happy hour is agree. a slice of cheese pizza and a pbr for 3 bucks. -

Not sure how we heard about Piecora's. It sort of conveniently located on my way home from work, so makes a great place to meet my family for dinner. There is parking behind if you continue up Madison past Piecora's from downtown. Otherwise, parking on the street would be tough and would require a few block walk.
They have a fairly deep draught selection of beers, a barely sufficient selection of wines, and they say they have a full bar for some other drinks.
We went before 5pm on a Friday to help deal with traffic. Variety of people present - families, couples, friends. They fill up their first floor and then they open other areas. They seem to have several dining areas and a balcony. The service is somewhat collaborative.
Happy hour is 3-5:30 M-F, with good prices on stuff. They make pizza by the slice, half or whole for a reasonable price, especially for the size of the slice and pizza. Our family of 4 could easily agree on 2 halves and be full. This time though, we ordered happy hour cheese bread, which comes with marinara and is really good, a couple slices of cheese with bleu cheese, a couple slices pepperoni, and a slice with broccoli, feta, and zucchini, and the manicotti dinner.
The salad looked and tastes great. Service is collaborative. Pizza is awesome. Best we've had in Seattle. -
Review from Diana S.
Seattle is a slightly terrifying place, and that directly applies to the crazed citizens. Perhaps it's the symptom of being such a foodie paradise, but never have I ever experienced a city so critical about its pizza. Within a mile radius of my school, there are about a dozen pizza joints, and claiming your allegiance to any one of them is grounds for some sort of intense reaction. But I'll go ahead and say it, I like Piecora's.
A group of friends and I came here for a UFC fight, but were unavailable to get in. Walking in was a tease, one whiff of dough hitting a hot oven, a glance at each other, and we knew - we had to stay for the pizza. We started out with an order of hot wings with two half pies on the way (one half Westcoaster/Hawaiian, the other half Queens). The hot wings were pretty good, but were made infinitely better with the accompaniment of butter-laden garlic bread ($6.95). Soon after we devoured the appetizer, our pizza came straight from the oven. Willing to sacrifice self-respect and endure scorched mouths, we attacked both halves. It's safe to say that to finish a huge pizza in five minutes is a testament to our fondness for the pie. The Westcoaster pizza (half pie $12.25) was good - a familiar pie with its pineapple and ham. The Queens pizza (half pie $13.25) was an artery-clogging monster with its homemade meatballs, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. It's a pizza that would make any guy, or in our case two guys, happy. As for the crust, I may be content with any form of crust, but it was solidly good. It was sturdy enough to hold its own against the weight of our toppings, but tasty enough to be completely eaten once the toppings were long gone.
Our only complaint was the odd service we received - our first waitress was saucy to a discomforting level. She seemed disinterested in serving us most of the time - only there to take our orders, then later to throw a pitcher of water on the table. Another waitress, who probably wasn't even assigned our table, was the sweetest - constantly refilling our glasses and asking if we were doing alright.
I'm no pizza connoisseur, but I am a college student. I will say, Piecora's hits the spot for those nights that I was to embrace my meager bank account or late-night drunken antics. -

Crazy, disorganized, but amazing pizza. I can't speak to authentic, but I felt like I was eating as close as you can to real NY style. (No, they were not rude, the pizza was just what you would imagine).

Not the best, but much better than most pizza parlors I've been to. The pizza has a habit of falling apart while you're eating it, so get extra napkins!

When this place opened I was like 21, newly married, with a new born. The people who opened this place were just kids like me. My wife and son and I lived a block away on 15th and Pike and we would walk over with our son. Now I'm 51. The pizza was freaking good then and their pizza is still freaking good now.

I am updating my original review because I had a delicious half pie from here..the Greek with added sausage. So good with the feta, olives and tomatoes and the sausage gave it a little extra flavor. I really liked how the pizza wasn't over the top with cheese and the crust had good flavor.

Ordered a slice of pepperoni and mushroom to go. Just after leaving and walking quite away from the restaurant I decided I want a bite. When I opened the box I realize the mushrooms were uncooked. They threw uncooked mushrooms on a pepperoni pizza that was cooked and already cold!!! How freaking lazy! The restaurant is right around the corner from my place, but trust me I'm not going there again I'd rather walk to Big Mario's or Hot Mamas!!!

Abby is an excellent waitress, very sweet and friendly. So, Abby, if you're reading this, we like you and keep up the good work.
To the rest of the staff, you guys need a serious attitude adjustment. Knowing that my business grants you your paycheck makes me want to avoid going, as everyone's attitude is as if my patronage is an inconvenience instead of their income source. Every time I enter the place, my group and I stand awkwardly until one of you decides to grace us with your presence, like its some hassle for you. Beard guy, you one had us sitting during the lunch hour for thirty minutes after we'd finished waiting for our check. EXTREMELY RUDE. Water boy, who i think has a mullet, will sometimes ask if you want water, but in an icy and unfriendly way that adds to the feeling of being unwelcome.
Then, there's the food. It's pretty good if you get a whole pizza, but never get a slice. They toss on toppings and dont cook them with the pizza, and they go super sparingly on the cheese for pizzas they plan on slicing out. Its all very uninspired and as if they couldnt care less about the lower paying customers who just want a quick bite. I do like the meatballs, but often they come out cold....even when it's not busy. Sometimes, it's warm on the outside but cold on the inside...undercooked or something. Not pleasant.
The desserts are okay.
I think this place is substandard. You might like it if Abby's your server, and if you get a whole pie, but otherwise it wont be great. I like Hot Mama's better even though they're a bit more expensive and cant seat a crowd.
Piecora's, if you want customers beyond just SU students, try harder on your customer service. -

I struggled with whether to give Piecora's two or three stars. (And by struggled I mean I sat in front of my computer for about 20 seconds thinking mightily.) In the end I gave it three, which I use as my standard for whether I'd go back to a place or not. The fact is, there are weirdly not many traditional Italian-American pizza joints like Piecora's in Capitol Hill (i.e. not specialty, Serious Pie-type places).
The pizzas they offer are thoroughly decent. They're not amazing and they're not bad. I will say they are kind of expensive. We got a pizza with green peppers, sausage and mushrooms. Can't go wrong, and they didn't. -

By far, the best pizza I've ever had. Not only is the food amazing, this place is quite comfortable, family friendly & great for large groups. We've been here many times and have never been disappointed. I held my son's 6th birthday party here and they were awesome. They gave us private room, and all the time we needed. I can't speak to their delivery, we always opt to carry out or dine in.

I don't know why it took years to actually visit this place, but once I did decided their pizza was nothing special. With all the other pizza places on Capitol Hill (the Central District listing for this restaurant is wrong), I can't see any reason to go back.

What happened to Piecora's???
I was homesick and wanted a NY slice about 7 years ago and heard they had the best NY slice in town. I went in with some friends and really enjoyed the pizza. 3 years later my wife wanted to treat me to pizza and it wasn't as good. Something was different. I thought it might have been the dough but wasn't 100% sure. I thought I caught the chef on an off night. No biggie, it happens to every restaurant.
Today I wanted to treat my team to a couple of pies. I called up for a delivery and placed my order, gave my name and other info. When the guy realized I worked downtown (not on Cap. Hill) he said they won't be able to deliver to my area and just hung up the phone. Ummm, ok. That was rude. I called back and told the jack ass that I was ok picking up the pizza.
I ordered a variety of pies. Cheese, Pepperoni, Hawaiian and mushroom/olive. I hate to say this but the pizza was even worse than the last time I had it 3 years ago. I wouldn't even consider it a "NY Style" pizza anymore. It was way too thick and doughy and they went VERY light on the toppings. I was shocked. The taste was OK but I think I've finally given up on this place.
The staff is rude, the pizza is average and it's a pain in the ass to find parking anywhere near Piecora's. Piecora's needs a hot tub time machine so they can go back to the winter of 2005 and get the old staff and pizza chef back. It's just not the same these days.1 Previous Review: Show all »

San Francisco, CA
This is great pizza, but exercises false advertising. I don't know why they insist on screaming that this is "New York Pizza" because it's not, but it's still very good. I know that "New York" is synonymous with "high quality" to some people when it comes to pizza, but the former is a style that can be either good or bad quality. So I can see why people are disappointed when they get to Piecora's and find high quality pizza, but not NY pizza.
Anyway, the pizza is on the thicker side (thicker than NY), with a nice chewy bread. They basically only make cheese pizza, then they add the toppings and re-bake, which sounds low class but turns out pretty well. This also makes it easy for them to churn out slices of any type quickly. Great for the solo diner or the group that can't agree one flavor that fits all.
So, Piecora's Original New York Pizza: change your name, stop with the New York paintings all over the walls, and get rid of the big "New York Pizza" sign out front, but keep making the same pizza. You won't attract Seattle's few NYC ex-pats, but they won't be satisfied anyway. -

Parking is great for the part of town it's in, but I'm not too enthusiastic about the food. Once you get out of the Domino's range, pizza is pizza. It's not bad, not exceptional. Has plenty of space and a decent atmosphere.

I seriously think I'm starting to lose my taste buds. New York style pizza should be bursting with flavors at the seems. No, pizza in general should be bursting with flavor at the seems. Once again, this place proves that Pacific Northwest foods looks scrumptious, but is olfactorily dead.
- the place is cold (though it was freezing outside)
- the place smells weird (maybe they had a restroom problem?)
- the parking is abundant (spacious & private!) -

Food is great, beer selection awesome and staffed by Applebee's rejects.

I love coming to this pizza place. And along with the Pizza I always make it a point to order the baked chicken wings that they have. Its amazing! I take my friends or family that come to visit me, here if they have a craving for good pizza and wings. I've never been disappointed with anything on their menu. The atmosphere is very laid back as well, with the service being really good.
I just recently had my son's bday celebration here and he managed to get down 3 slices of pizza. Not an easy feat if you see how big the pizzas are. I was worried at first since I had quite a large crowd for the celebration. But all of the staff was very accommodating and let me bring a cake and they brought it out when it was time to blow out the candles. There wasn't a long wait for the food and our party was taken care of quite efficiently.
So if you're a fan of pizza, you should come try this place out. On another note, their selections of beer is pretty good and they serve it by the pitcher if you want. -

Seattle, WA
Came here the other day for a couple slices to go. They advertise "Slices To Go" so I didn't think there was much ambiguity here.
They have plain cheese slices ready to go, with additional toppings available. I got two slices, one with artichoke and blue cheese, and another with eggplant and red onion. They charge by the topping, which I thought was odd.
After waiting 10 minutes, I got the slices. Basically they just put the toppings on top of cheese pizza that's already baked, then heat it up. Seems like a weird way to do it.
The underlying pizza was great, though. The sauce in particular was fantastic. I probably won't come here for slices to go again, but I'd come back for a real meal. -
Review from Alice B.
All-round good pizza. I don't know if it's truly authentic New York style since I'm midwestern-raised, but I really like the crust and thin style, but not to the point of being floppy.
Besides pizza, they have a large selection of pastas, salads, appetizers, etc. I also like the casual pizza-joint feel inside. It's really much larger inside that you would guess from the outside. They also serve pizza by the slice - at least cheese, and then they throw on other toppings and re-bake it if you want something else.
The best part is that there is an attached parking lot that is free, reserved for customers. We've been here nearly a dozen times over the years and never had trouble finding parking. -

Big, floppy, thin crust delicious NY style pizza - check.
The nicest, and I mean seriously, the nicest people ever that work and own this joint - check.
Good atmosphere, cozy, hip little place - check.
Community-minded, consistently giving back to the local community - check.
Free parking in Capitol Hill??!!! CHECK.
Need I say more? 5 Stars Johnny! -

We hadn't ordered pizza from here in a few months and gave it another try. We ordered pepperoni and mushroom, delivered. The delivery guy was very nice but the pizza was terrible. I think this was the worst crust I have ever tasted, it was hard, too thick and burnt.the toppings were meager and the sauce had no flavor. My partner and I, both Italian americans, have lived in Seattle since 1986 and we are originally from NY State. I am always surprised when I see a pizza place claiming it serves "New York Style". No pizza in Seattle tastes like NY Pizza, I wonder if these places have ever had it? Pizza is a simple food and you would think it should be easy to make something that at least doesn't taste awful. but most of the pizza here is terrible and over priced. I have a few places here that I like but you have to eat it right out of the oven. The places that deliver have been, in my opinion, pretty bad.

We ate at Piecora's years ago when we still lived on The Hill. I distinctly remember not being impressed and didn't think it was worth another trip. But we went to a show at Chop Suey on Sat and needed a cheap dinner beforehand. Why not head across the street? So we did and I'm glad we gave Piecora's a second chance.
Our service was quick and friendly, which I know isn't always the case here. We ordered half a pizza with green peppers, fresh tomatoes, and basil (came to around $17). It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had (and I added all the accoutrement available -- salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, parm, and red peppers) but it was pretty damn good considering we were expecting to be disappointed. More like 3 or 3.5 Stars for the food but the fact that you can order half a pizza OR a custom-made slice (!) is what makes me round it up to 4 Stars. They've got some noteworthy competition in the vicinity but Piecora's makes pretty good pizza, and it's perfect if you don't want a whole pie.Listed in: Pizza Master

I used to drive 2o minutes to get a pizza from here. However, the EMO staff would rather commit suicide than serve you. After my last experience I quit going. They are just rude, unattentive, and lazy. The pizza, when served hot, is great and there are few places that do it this well. But the stafff and the inexplicably cold pizza make the experience here suck. Oh yeah, I once order a pizza to go. After 20 mins, I asked where it was and they pulled it down off the top of the oven. It must've sat there 10 mins while the dumb-asses behind the counter were B.S.ing. I did not know the pizza they boxed up and put up there was mine and they never called out a name or anything. I am done with Piecora's original EMO pizza and I am NEVER going back.

This place is amazing. Me and the girl always get the calzones which are huge. The price is just right, its even better on Mondays if you get the 50% off coupon out of the stranger. They are packed with cheese and whatever toppings of your choice.
The service is always great too. We love this place! -
Review from Joyce J.
My coworker said this place is one of the top two New York style pizza places in Seattle so I gave it a try. I only time for a slice so I got a Sweet Italian. However, I was very disappointed. I think the concept of pre-making a cheese pizza then throw raw toppings on it then bake it again just doesn't work. This can't be the top two NY-style pizza places in Seattle.
Perhaps I just need to come back and try their freshly baked pizzas to change my opinion on the place. -

Okay, so if you were to take all of the truly original pizza joints, remove them from the planet and look at what you have left, there would be Piecorra's. But before you write these guys off your list, you should be aware of the following:
1) Plenty O' Parking. When I am elsewhere on the Hill about to slit my wrists after doing loops to find a parking spot that isn't half a foot shorter than my car, I reminisce about Piecorra's parking lot and sometimes a sigh escapes my lips.
2) If you are a UFC connoisseur (I know; a contradiction in terms) they show the fights here. After parting with the $10 cover charge ($3.3333 per hour or less if you see pre-fights!), you become part of the brethren. When you are in the mood to see some testosterone-fueled, high-flying, arm bar cracking eye nuggets, this is a cool place to come! They have a 100+ inch screen on the top level, which always encourages crowd participation, whose comments alternate from low brow to Neanderthal brow. I do recommend getting there early, because the room fills up especially for a high profile fight.
3) It looks tiny from the outside, but don't be deceived! There is room to graze like happy, well-fed Midwestern cattle.
As far as the pies are concerned, my friends ordered a feta, olive concoction, which rated far above the cardboard pizza found in the local supermarket freezer section, and far below the heaven-sent juicy spectacles I used to have in San Fran. If that screams AVERAGE to you, that wouldn't be an unfair assessment. Pizza snobs should avoid it, but for the rest of us, it's not a bad bit of cheesy fare. -

Overall: Whoa, that's some expensive pizza for the quality
I am not impressed with this pizza joint whatsoever. They boast New York style pizzas, yet they resemble nothing of the sort.
I ordered three pizzas for our work's do. Delivery was free (albeit a bit late), and the total came to $77, excluding tip... ouch.
Ok, the pizzas were big, but the bases are thick, spongy and incredibly doughy. On their menu, it states that you need to specially order an ultra-thin base... oh come on guys! The sauce, amount of cheese or toppings were nothing to rave home about neither.
I think we'd have got a better deal at dominos or pizzahut! -
Review from Emerson S.
Puyallup, WA
My band had a show at Chop Suey across the street and we ended up asking the sound guy for advice on local restaurants and he said Piecora's across the street!
We had a 6 person group and were seated on the top floor. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside! I ended up ordering the Combo pizza and splitting it.
The service was timely (besides a little wait for some people who ordered some sides of ranch) but the pizza itself was very mediocre and a tad bland for my liking. Trackside in Puyallup or Zeek's blow this place out of the water, as far as pizza goes.
This places gets two stars for mediocre pizza, a good beer selection, and having a cool interior "New York" vibe. -

Best pizza I've had in Seattle.
This is my go-to for pizza- so glad it's near my apartment. Usually just 20 minutes to pick up a really good pie.
Also really like the calzones- they are HUGE. Really great ricotta, I wonder if they make it themselves, it's very smooth.
Meatballs are pretty good, good size and great texture.
Always like the salads too-
All in all I'd recommend this to anyone I know. The folks that work there are very friendly. -
Review from nathan r.
Seattle lacks something: Pizza Culture. For anyone who has read my reviews you know that I'm always in search of a good, decent pie. I have yet to find one that I can rate better than 2 stars (Fair), in Seattle...and no I have yet to try Delancy's- so back off, I'll get there soon enough.
If you're adding "New York" to your name- you better bring it. You better bring on the thin crust- and make it floppy yet substantial. You better bring on the perfect ratio of blended cheeses to sauce. You better hit a Sultan of Swat home run. Unfortunately for Piecora's- it was a swing and a miss, much like the Mariners awful lineup of slumpsters.
What I will give it props for is the interior- very cool, reminds me of a few places back east. The staff was on top of their game and friendly- and the location is great too.
The rest...well, the cheese was so greasy that it put jiffy lube to shame. The crust was bland, dry and lacked the power to withhold the grease flood. I was in a hurry to get to as show next door at Chop Suey, so they gave me a flimsy to-go box, that was almost dripping with grease by the time I crossed the street.
I'd come here for a beer and a slice if you had no other options. Ask for extra napkins and get ready to soak. It's a nice place to hang and get a beer and watch any companions try to work their way through messy pie. C'est la vie? C'est la mort. -
Review from Andrew M.
The only went to Piecoras in college for two reasons. First, Thursday night was discount night for college students. Could get a decent deal on a large pizza. The other reason would be to watch games or fights not on normal cable. Outside of these two times the place was just way too over priced for my taste. Their pizza is good, don't get me wrong, but for the price you could get multiple equally good pizzas at another place.

i was skeptical. didn't want to believe it. a pizza that stacks up to a slice of NY pie on the West coast? no fucking way.
well... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
this pie is amazing. even ate TWO WHOLE SLICES... okay, so i eat like a bird, normally. but holding back from my fave of fave fast food when it's that fucking delicious is impossible.
crust was cooked to perfection. cheese and sauce were delicious and rounded off each other nicely. and i'm yearning for another slice already. in all seriousness, this is some of the best pizza i've ever had. and i'm a PICKY ass pie eater.
my bro is real lucky he lives so close to this joint and that they deliver, too. next time i go out to visit, it'll be rainy and cold. the perfect concoction for staying in to watch flicks and have a yummy pie delivered to us... too bad our Bon Jovi server lookalike wouldn't greet us at the door, though.

I absolutely love Piecora's. It is definitely my favorite pizza place.
Their food is stinkin' delicious. The crust is perfect, they have the cheese to sauce ratio down to a science, and the slices are gigantic.
The staff's super friendly, and the service is always excellent. And it's very reasonably priced. 4 huuuge slices came to a total of $17. Not bad at all.
My personal favorite is the canadian bacon, pineapple, and goat cheese. I get it every time, and I always leave fat and happy. -
