Iunno what happened but it tastes a lot better than I remembered! Went here long after class ended and there was just one guy working but all the pizzas that were out looked pretty fresh. He was still in a pretty good mood despite being the only one working there. I had some vegetarian pesto pizza that was pretty great - obviously it's not going to be the best pizza you've ever had, but given the price (relative to other campus meals) and their convenient hours, it was much better than I'd expected.

Solid pizza slices and excellent prices! Whenever my tummy is growling at UBC Pie R Square is my go-to place. In general the quality is pretty good, and at $2.50 a slice you can't really beat the price. Although I like most of the topping combinations, there are times when their selection of slices is really limited. Also, that baked potato pizza always seems to be there and I think it's pretty is nasty (though other people tell me they love it), too many carbs crammed together if you ask me but that's just personal preference.

I tried their chicken with veggie pizza and it was quite flavourful. There was some kind of sweet cinnamon taste with the chicken and veggies. Still, the crust tasted more on the bland side. There were a lot of toppings on the chicken and veggie pizza, so if you're into meat, go for their pizzas with chicken.
I'll avoid any of their pizzas with salami or pepperoni. Their chopped up salami with artichokes and olives was nasty salty. I've never eaten pizza so salty in my life. -

Once again, I am reminded that Pie R Squared is one of the BEST deal slice pizzarias in town. Aside from having a nerdy name, let me tell you why is this so...
Last week I was surprised to find a mozzarella and chopped tomato pizza with mystery black paste on it. To my surprise...it was large amounts of olive tapinade! Best idea ever. It was so good that it is now one of my favourite toppings.
Anyway, they usually have such great veggie pizzas that include pesto, artichokes and all the good stuff. Their most well known pizza, is their special "Baked Potato Pizza" which includes a delicious cream sauce base, with baked potato, different kinds of cheese and onions and bacon.
Lastly, it's a pretty good deal at $2.50 a slice. I used to think that it was expensive. However, nowadays all the pay per slice pizzarias around town have increased their prices. Thus in comparison, you're getting a larger slice, with better toppings for a little bit more. So much better, in my opinion. -

So cheap! So quick! They mark down their pizza for late night! (after 9 I think) So.. that's pretty cool.
I only ever eat the veggie pizza, and it's always been awesome. -

I have been a fan for years. It was better then, but hey, its got to be one of the easiest-fastest-cheapest-bang-for-your-buck-need-t o-fill-your-tummy-to-study hits on campus.
$2.75 a slice is worth it! It is made with healthier ingredients compared with pizza pizza etc. The veggie slices are almost always a guarantee, not the beet one though (they don't pre-cook the beets) and the baked potato with bacon n'cheese is always a good option if its there. -

I love pizza from here. It's never been bad to me. Except maybe on my hips. I love the fresh toppings, the creative flavours, and the crust. Yes it's a pretty thick end crust but I love it!
I think I even heard rumours of them starting a vegan pizza... maybe? And I think they source some produce from the UBC Farm. So props for sustainability.
I, for one, love the spicy capicollo pizza. But any pizza with coming straight from the oven/warmer will do. Any meat pizza. I like meat. :-D
Yay for (pi)r^2! -

How can you not love THE pie r sqaured? It's classic.
Although they have changed the pie a bit over the years (customer circa 2001!) it's still the best slice for miles.
the crust has deflated a bit since the early years but what I HEART about this place is that they keep the pizza doughy. In an economy of thin-crust-lovers, it's hard to get a nice doughy slice of pizza anymore. What's up with that?!
I remember back in the day the steak & potato pizza was the popular choice (I always hated it tho)
And it seems quite clear from other yelpers that the beet pizza is a fail. (I wonder who orders that)
But everything else is delish.
Late night post-bzzr garden slice is always a must (do the kids do that anymore? Haha..I suppose I just dated myself by even using the word "bzzr". -

I guess the price might justify low expectations but good pizza doesn't have to be expensive.
The crust is really inconsistent and normally too thick and much too dry. It basically has an undesirable yeasty flavor.
I've noticed that some people liked the potato and bacon pizza. I tried it based on a recommendation and it was too dry and wayyy too heavy. Potato on a thick crust is a little too much and when I went over to the library to study afterwords, I just felt really sleepy.
I will give it a break because it really is the only thing open on the center of campus on weekends and the only thing open at night and so very convenient when studying. That said, I think UBC students deserve much better. -

This is where the UBC students go for their pizza fix, or just when we really need something cheap to sustain our stomachs during cram-time. It's cheap at about $2.50 a slice, with both meat and veggie varieties available. I liked the potato and bacon the best, but the tomato and sausage isn't bad either.
Their crust tends to be kinda chewy though, and not in a good way. And if you don't like grease, maybe this place isn't for you, because their pizza is particularly greasy. You can literally see the oil floating on your slice. But hey, if you're a starving student, you won't really care.
They have a few tables and bar stools here, so most people usually take their pizza and eat it in the student union lobby nearby. They also have a tv screen to help stressed students relax. It's funny to walk by in the afternoon and see the pizza guys imitate soap stars on tv, while throwing the pizzas into the air. -

Thank goodness for Pie R Squared, or I wouldn't be able to afford lunch on-campus.
At $2.75 a slice, I'm slightly less inclined to pack my lunch if I'm in a hurry in the morning.
One slice will fill you up pretty good, but you'll go back for a second- I guarantee it.
Their crust is thick, their toppings plentiful, and their recipes are bang-on- save for the beet pizza; if you see a purple chunk'd pie, beware.
Not to worry if you're a veggie eater, there's always a veggie option available on the far left of the counter.
Score: a poor starving student no longer has to be starving! Still poor though- oh well. -
Review from Geoff B.
Average tasting pizza that only stands out in one way: they put sesame seeds in their crust. It's novel and kind of tasty, but in every other respect there is nothing special about their specialty. It's over-priced to boot, at about $2.50 a slice. That's half a small at some joints I can name, and it will be about the same quality. That said, it's the best option for pizza on campus (the others being Pizza Pizza and the cafeterias). There is much cheaper and tastier food available at UBC.
