It was my dad's 65th birthday and my brother decided to take us out for good old fashion Italian food, like the old country.  The place was booked solid with reservations so if you want to chow down at Piccolino Birstro you better call them up and book a seat.  The atmosphere was homey and if you want to bring a hot date it created the romance required for wooing.  The food was incredible!  My mom and I had the alfrado; my sister-in-law had the stuffed chicken, my dad had the pasta with scallops and shrimps, my brother had the pasta with muscles and shrimps, my nieces had the cheese pizza; which was really good.  Everyone loved what they ordered and the desserts were very good, they only had tiramisu and the keylime cheesecake (they had others but their shipment didn't come in yet), but the ones they had where great.

The dinner portions were big; none of us could finish our food (we all got a doggy bag).  The service was great, very friendly, almost like family.  The price was a bit steep but considering how much you got it wasn't too bad (average was about $14-$30 per person).  I can't wait to go back!

Wow! My husband and I finally went to Piccolino tonight for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Not much to look at on the outside or inside but the food was AMAZING.
We shared fried ravioli to start. We got three huge peices to share with this amazing rose sauce. My husband lived the sauce so much he dipped the table bread in it till their was nothing left.
For our main courses he had lasagna and I had Gnocchi. My husband ate every last drop of his Lasgna and I tried to finish my gnocchi but there was just too much.
It was the best Itailian food I have ever had along with great service. We will definitely be going back to Piccolino's for our next Italian craving.

This is definitely a good Italian restaurant that makes high quality food with extremely fresh ingredients. Everything I had was really good (we had a big group so I tried a lot of different things), the drinks I ordered were great, and the service was top notch. The only thing I didn't like was the decor, but it is a family owned and operated restaurant so as you would expect, it was almost like you were in someone's home. If you're going at peak times, its probably best to make a reservation.

Went to this place last night with a friend for the first time.  I've heard really good things from friends and family (apparently Oilers players go here all the time).  Anyways, I was able to get a reservation for Friday evening  which I would definitely recommend you do unless you don't mind waiting.  When we arrived, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes as the place was completely packed.  Not a big deal.

Place is cozy and intimate.  I really liked the atmosphere and you can tell the place is packed with locals who come here all the time.  Anyways, on to the food - my friend had the gnocchi ($16) - very generous portion and filling.  She only was able to eat half of it but from what I sampled, it was very good.  For myself, I ordered the shell pasta ($16) which were about 7 very large shells stuffed with spinach and ricotta over a nice rose pasta sauce. Delicious!  We also ordered a 1/2 litre of white wine of shorza for $17 (wine is about $6-8 per glass).

Would definitely go back and try other dishes.  Service is friendly, food is great and the place is busy.  Owner came by a few times to see how we were doing.

A hidden gem the locals love. The menu is loaded with tasty Italian dishes made fresh. They have great daily dishes but go early to get a table or order take out. It can get a bit noisy when the restaurant is full.

Piccolino's is a great bistro in the west end. They offer delicious Italian food, and their pastas are fantastic. Portion sizes are on the generous side, and the service is great. You can also order "take out." The restaurant is always very busy, so making reservations is a must! This is a wonderful family owned restaurant, and the owners often visit with the regular customers.

WOW! I can't even count the number of times I've driven past this place dismissing it as just a strip mall restaurant. That notion was dead wrong.

I didn't plan in advance but luckily I was able to get a table. I would recommend reservations though because it's a busy little restaurant. It's such a homey, family-run atmosphere. Many of the patrons are repeat customers and are greeted by name.

I ordered the Pollo Nettuno which was absolutely amazing! I asked the waiter to suggest a wine and he brought a glass of a very nice red wine that complimented the meal very well.

I was very happy with the portion size. It was exactly right - not too much and not too little. They give the option between pasta or potatoes and veggies. I opted for the potatoes and it was perfect.

I didn't opt for dessert, though they sounded extremely appealing. I did go for the cappuccino. I must say I'm somewhat of a connoisseur of fine coffee. It was by far one of the best cappuccino's I've ever had.

I love pasta, ALL kinds of pasta so I was ecstatic to try some "one-of-a-kind" pasta. I'm confused as to why this place is so popular. After reading all the rave reviews (both on yelp and on other websites) I was super excited to eat at this place with my boyfriend.

The menu selection is a little different but that intrigued me ... until I got my food. The first thing said came out of my boyfriends mouth when he said "this is disgusting". I told him he was exaggerating until I tried my plate. I got a cannelloni roll up type dish and not only was the pasta dough watery but the sauce was milky with no taste. We left both of our plates uneaten, paid, and left. We won't be back.

Piccolino is a very popular west end Italian bistro serving different kinds of pastas, pizzas, and entrees. It gets extremely busy and because it is such a small place, I would recommend making reservations.

Family owned and operated, the staff are friendly and helpful to customers. I find the pasta portions to be quite large, and usually on the spicy side. I usually ask for less kick to my meal and the kitchen obliges.  The pizzas have the traditional Italian thin crust, and some very unusual toppings. One of my favourites uses a layer of sliced potato as the base instead of tomato sauce - I used to jokingly refer to it as the 'french fry pizza" but of course that is not what it is called.  My favourite pasta dish here is the gnocchi, which are delicate dumplings made from potato dough (OK, I will admit it - I am a potato lover).

Piccolino offers take out as well, if you would prefer your meal at home.

We eat here probably once or twice a month, sometimes we eat in, but often we pick up.  The service is always fabulous and friendly, the food plenty and alway piping hot and very reasonably priced!  I take friends and family and we even had a Christmas party there one year.  I can't say enough about this  Crestwood secret I have never in all of the years I've been eating there had a disappointing meal.   Bon Appetite!

i came here for lunch with my bf and his fam on my last day in edmonton. lets just keep this short and simple -- piccolino is outrageously delicious. im pretty picky about where i like to eat italian, and this is one of the best places ive ever been to. i just about wanted to try everything on the menu! i forgot the name of the dish i got, but it was like an italian enchilada with veal. on my next trip, i want to get the stuffed shells.

    go here. its great.
