Review from kath r.
This past Saturday, the girls and I decided to make a Vietnamese picnic and hang out in the park to make the most of the sunny day and show some appreciation for the sheer athleticism of the local boys :)
We hit up Ba Le for bahn mis (bahn misses? bahn mys?) and then, deciding that wasn't going to suffice, we headed upstairs to Pho Le for salad rolls.
We arrived between service so the place was deserted. We placed our order and then waited and watched the world go by from the second floor windows whilst enjoying complimentary tea.
Our short stay and transaction with the staff were friendly and pleasant, so much so that the next time I'm craving Pho I'm going to head here to check it out.
That the accompanying peanut sauce was particularly moreish and the rolls light and cheap is even more incentive to come back.
So, as Arnie says: We'll be back!Comment from Pho LE I. of Pho Le 7/11/2010

Went with the pho-crew last Sunday at lunch. It's a little hidden - upstairs in a old-fashioned Chinatown courtyard. However, as hidden as it was, it was practically deserted. Our group only saw 2 other groups there the entire time we were there for lunch. Fruitflies kept us company (ugh), and the broth was a little too salty, although it was sufficiently hot.
Spring roles were decently crispy-yet-chewey, although a little on the chewier side, and for $2.50 for 2, they really should have been listed as "$2.50 for 2 lumps"
Menu needs some editing (or submission for an engrish award), and the service was just passable, even though it was empty. -

For my second Pho experience and first iPad review I am glad it is all happening for Pho Le!
The entire miss matched interior design, beaded curtain on the way to the bathroom and a polite sign at reminded you to flush the urinal after use. (Really???)
The salad rolls were very good, peanut sauce was tasty.
The broth was rich and flavourful but still light, meat cooked very well and the noodles, that the deal maker!!
Great job guys!Comment from Pho LE I. of Pho Le 7/11/2010

Review from K N.
I don't know why I try to convince myself I will ever be able to enjoy a decent bowl of Pho outside of my mom's kitchen. I was starving and we happened to wander through some gates and figured pho can't be THAT bad here. The empty restaurant should have been our first clue, but we've been deceived by that before. I got the pho tai bo vien... it sucked. However, I was ALMOST impressed when the meat actually came out raw. A lot of places blanch the meat first, but this was red and raw and just the way I like it. It's now worked up to a 1-star review.. Mr. A got the pho ga with the bbq chicken on the side and I couldn't tell you how the pho/broth was, but their lemon grass chicken was the only reason this place got up to a 2-star. It was hot, greasy and crisp. A smidge bland, but so was everything else we had. I don't expect to be back, but if we happen to be right there and can't wait to eat, maybe I'll try one of their rice dishes.

Christmas lights decorating the interior all year, mismatched dishes, and plasma screens playing VCDs of Vietnamese award shows and pageants. If you're a true lover of Vietnamese cuisine, you'll know these are all good signs- you never want a PHO place to be too clean or too western/modern-looking. PHO LE will indefinitely satisfy your taste buds with an authentic delicious 'fundamental' bowl of genuine PHO. I highlight 'fundamental,' because there are just so many places trying to screw around with this basic broth. Here, you'll go back to the basics of this ancient Vietnamese noodle soup. The original Pho Tai is my recommendation. The perfect amount of fish sauce, sugar, and spices like anise make PHO LE the place to be for a hearty meal. Most entrees are under 10 dollars, but don't miss out on the Vietnamese Iced Coffee with condensed milk. Remember to bring cash (that's all they take). They are open 7 days a week, but they're last call is at 6:30 pm. Sounds a bit early doesn't it? But did you know that PHO is actually a breakfast food in Vietnam?
