Burnaby, BC
I love the people complaining about the "unsavory individuals" around the area, but you have to remember that vancouver has a homeless/drug problem. It's EVERYWHERE.
The pho here is pretty average, but still worth a walk from metrotown if you have the time. The lemongrass chicken and springrolls are good as well. Good sized portions.
We used to eat there at least once a week. It's nice and quiet, the service is fast and they're very friendly.
For some reason they never gave us basil with our sprouts, but I've seen it delivered to other tables, is this a "white people don't like basil" thing?
Great for a quiet quick and satisfying meal. -

Spent 20 minutes trying to find this stupid place. They still have their sign around back, yet they are no longer at this location. SAVE YOUR TIME, ITS CLOSED!

Richmond, BC
Soup was not as hot as I am used to for Pho, and we eat it at least twice a week, and like to try a new one as often as possible. This was a long trip from Richmond just for soup. My wife had the special veggie soup, and it was COVERED with a layer of fat, beef fat for sure, we finally got the servers attention, she said she would have it made over with no oil on top, a couple of minutes later out came the same bowl wih a bunch of the fat removed, but not all of it, so she wouldn't eat it. I was long finished by this time so we left. I complained to the manager and said I would write about it, he still charged me, never said a word, not sorry, please come back, as a matter of fact the weasel wouldn't even look at me. This place should be avoided at all costs, because even if you like it, sometime you will have a problem, that is the restaurant business after all, it is how they look after the problem. These people just tune you out. There are hundreds of Pho places around Vancouver, avoid the Pho Century, they should be forced out of business.

How can I possibly be at a Pho restaurant here?
The GOOD: I know the place is still new, but it's a refreshing place to have pho. I don't even need to wear my scrubs which I would need to air out or wash after having pho. The soup base is good, noodles are a bit overcooked, but probably just a preference thing. The springrolls are delicious, not as good as Bau Chao, but still above average pho sho (couldn't resist, sorry).
The BAD: There was one major flaw in the pho though: bones. I have never had bones in the rare beef flanks that is served with pho. It's like "Surprise! you broke a tooth today!" Also, the rare beef flanks are actually close to well done. I need to add that their viet subs are well below average, they need to be toasted, c'mon.
This place is set up really nicely and has a good location to do well. They need to work on their Pho, tho. -

For a Pho restaurant, it is very clean and modern.
The seats were comfortable and the waitresses were also very friendly. As for the food, it could have been better. The spring rolls could have been fried a bit longer and the Vietnamese sandwich needs improvement. The sandwich wasn't toasted long enough so the bread wasn't crispy and the meat was sliced way too thin. Come on... 2mm thicker wouldn't cost that much more. The noodle soups were fine and the broth didn't taste like there are tons of MSG in it, but the rare beef should come out rare and not well done.
Overall, I wouldn't mind eating here again since it's close to home and it's clean, but it wouldn't be my first choice. -

To be fair - I rate the food here a 4. But overall I have to give to dock it a star because the decor isn't the nicest and outside I got a great view of the interesting happenings of the outside of the BC Liquor Store:
Dishevelled men hunting for discarded cigarette butts like they're a gold coin; 4 can-hunters celebrating their latest acquisition of a cheap case of beer; said can-hunters buying 2 kids a bottle of something..
I had a combo dish which came with 2 beef satays a deep fried rice-based roll and one of those shrimp/white noodle wraps (I forget what they're called!!). Came with some peanut dipping sauce and other light oily/vinegary dressing that I used for dipping and for dressing for the clear noodles. The prices were very reasonable...Listed in: EAts near work

This place is pretty good. The pho is tasty, beefy and silky. The stuff in it is slicey, bally and tripey. I always get the house special pho, i think it's number 9, so i can't comment on the other food other than it looks nice.
The staff is friendly and courteous, I've never had any kind of problem there.
The only reason I don't go more often is the hours, they close at around 9pm. I don't want pho before 9, I want it at 3am.
As Barry mentioned, the locals are.. a little bummy.. but if that is your concern, the liquor store closes at the ridiculously early time of 6pm (except friday) when they all go behind the mall to drink and sing.. So you've got a three hour window to pretend that it's a nice neighbourhood. -
