This location is closed due to the relocation of the Calgary Farmers Market. Don't fret. They now have two other shops in Calgary!

I support good coffee in Calgary. Phil & Sebastians is good coffee, No doubt.
Ol' Phillip and Seabas kill it.
The Americanos are a double shot as a standard...Wowza, perfectly roasted, rich, dark.
I also noticed that at the 2 locations I've been too, Farmers Market and Chinook, That the service is always really friendly and great.
I like the use of the Helvetica ampersand too, good design. a bit reminicent of Dean & Deluca, but thats a good thing in the end. -

Wow, I can't believe for a coffee-nerd as big as me I had never been to Phil & Sebastian's before. What the heck?!
Anyways, I overcame my virginity this past weekend and had a delicious latte from their location at the Calgary Farmers Market. Really great service, really great coffee. The staff actually took the time to talk about the coffee with each customer in line, which I think is great because educating people about their beans is important.
I will definitely be going back and also checking out their Marda Loop location as well as their brand-new Chinook Location. Cool! -

UN. REAL. Coffee.
Calgary, this place is as good as it gets. Even if they were set up 'Seattle style' as a window in a concrete wall with no place to sit, I would still brave chilly Albertan winters to get my hands on a cup of their seasonal specialities pulled through the clover.
Lucky for us, the vibe is in fact probably one of the coolest in the city. It almost feels like a hybrid between Higher Ground in Kensington, Kaffa in Marda Loop, and the original Good Earth in Inglewood. The lengthy space gives tons of room to always find a spot, feel somewhat private, and still provides the baristas with tons of room to craft their drinks.
But it's the details that really sold me. The giant desk lamp light near the door and mini chandeliers on top of every table are so cool. And the graphic design in all of their packaging is top notch.
Don't be fooled, though, it's the taste of the coffee that truly steals the show. Certainly try the espresso in an americano, latte, or cappucino if you'd like; but it's the raw, authentic flavour of the beans in the clover that sell me every time. Uncertain which roast you'll like? Ask the baristas, they are all knowing.
This is my new top stop when I'm back in the city, and now all I'm asking is: come to Vancouver? Please? -

Yes, Phil and Sebastian's is the BEST coffee gets in Calgary for sure - Canada most likely.
Phil and Sebastian themselves are super passionate guys who travel the world on a regular basis seeking out the best tastes in beans across the world. The proof is in the espresso.
They've expanded to three locations in the past few years because business is booming. Calgary's been hungry for this sort of quality. -

Coffee geek paradise- both a La Marzocco FB80 and a Synesso Cyncra, AND a Clover to boot, peerless coffee and as a bonus they treat customers AND THEIR EMPLOYEES with great respect.
Storefront location opening late summer in Marda Loop!!! -

I'm not really a coffee person; I drink lattes and the like but I don't drink plain coffee very often, so I'm not an expert on it.
But the espresso here is AMAZING. Their lattes are to die for. The cute little designs on top are fun, but oh my gosh. One sip and you're in heaven. They somehow taste like campfires and other amazingly lovely things.
Expensive, but worth it.Listed in: Hot Bevvies

Phil and Sebastian's has done the impossible and created a liquid orgasm in a cup. Their cuppa is better than in some places in Italy, and that is saying something!
The Cappuccino is to die for. I really love the setup of the store, because you watch the flourishes of the baristas at work. It is like art.
And the liquid orgasm is the chocolately-caramely drink whose name I can't remember as my mind immediately went blank with ecstacy. It had the perfect balance of flavor and was not very sweet. The foam was perfect. I just checked out while I drank it, and when I came to I was on the other end of the farmer's market! -

These guys are intense about their coffee, and I'm sure they'd be the first to admit it. Located in the Calgary Farmer's Market, Phil & Sebastian's created quite a buzz when they first appeared, what with their expensive clover (fancy coffee maker) and their way of making the foam on lattes look pretty...now that more independent coffee places have turned up in Calgary, P & S's is not the only great coffee on the street.
But, you know what? I'll always love P&S's 'cause I had my first very fantastic americano there, and it's etched in my mind forever... -

Phil and Sebastian in Marda Loop is a cafe like none other. The interior is incredibly airy, the ceilings are very high and the walls are covered in light wood; which creates a very trendy and high fashion place.
The coffee is ofcourse very good - rich and as other reviewers noted, does have a certain smoky/campfireness to it. The prices are very high but overall justifiable due to the quality of the service, the product and overall setting. -

Nice coffee. I've only drank it at their Farmers Market location 10-12 times and each time it was consistent and to my liking.
I really enjoy going to a place not just where the owners have a passion for what they do, so do the worker bees. Kind of pricey, but it is more of a treat than an everyday coffee. -

Congratulations are due to Ben Put for his honourable second place performance in the Canadian Barista Championships. I had the honour of tasting his wonderful and exquisite creations as a judge when he competed, and won, at the Prairie Regional competition on August 7th of this year. From my own experiences with your talents, it is no wonder to me that you did so well at the national level. Bravo!
Sebastian tells me there is a slate of Ethiopian coffees due to be sprung in their stores. I have a particular weakness for Ethiopian and very much look forward to cupping and reviewing these offerings. I will keep the readers posted shortly.
Recent samplings from their selections, all currently available, include a Honey Processed Gillio Francesa Costa Rican, a Bourbon/Caturra blend from Puerta Verde Estate in Guatemala, and a Kenyan Kandara Co-op from Theri. As I stated earlier, these guys may have a few peers, but if this was all the planet had to offer then somebody up there is certainly taking care of we imbibers of arabica who live in Calgary. Sebastian tells me the Gillio Francesa is all gone, pity, but such is the world of specialty coffee.
Two weeks ago, Phil and Sebastian opened the doors to their recent addition at Chinook Centre. Finally a good, in fact superb, cup of coffee is available in a shopping centre. The establishment is wonderfully laid out and homey and equipment buffs will be impressed by the high tech nature right down to temperature controlled water spouts that even weigh the water. However one goes for the coffee not to be dazzled by sophisticated chrome bedecked coffee making equipment. The coffee is unbelievably good as expected.
They have a full compliment of home preparation equipment from unbeatable hand Zassenhaus coffee grinders to exotic vacuum coffee makers. And yes, they sell bags of their world class coffee.
This is a true cafe, not a kiosk, and is a wonderful place to unwind and escape the humdrum of the mall. Highly Recommended. -

This is the best coffee in Canada! These guys are serious about their coffee and beans. I have purchased their beans and coffee when I am in Calgary. This is not Starbucks, as Starbucks sells ok-coffee at high prices . S&P isn't inexpensive coffee like your Timmys (Tim Hortons) where you can purchase a daily cup of joe or your premixed ice cap. Once in awhile, have a splurge and pop by the stall (the Farmers market), for yes, I agree, "liquid orgasm!"
