Review from Hilary G.
PetValu is more expensive than I thought pet stores would be in Canada. Then I checked out Pets Unlimited which was also expensive and realized there is just a huge markup on pet food in Canada compared to the US (sadness). While Pets Unlimited has a bigger selection of brands, the convenience of PetValu cannot be beat. They are 3 blocks from my apartment and the employees have always been friendly. I have taken my dogs in here twice and they get plenty of loving and dog treats. The employees have mentioned when certain dog treats are on sale so the dogs got lucky and we walked out with some rawhides. The owner was also helpful and gave me several bags of sample dog foods to try since the brand I fed them in the US is not available in Canada. I am always excited when coupons come in the mail and PetValu sent out $5 coupons in the neighborhood so kudos for discounts once in awhile.

Review from Mel H.
I've been in here a few times now and have mixed reviews on the service.
They have a decent supply of stuff for creatures both big and small and it's super convenient to have a pet store in downtown Halifax. Their products tend to be a bit more high end, which is also nice, but the prices also match. (However, their pricing isn't out of line compared to other places.)
The service as I said has been pretty luke-warm. Some of the staff really could care less about helping you and have lacked knowledge when asked questions on stuff. Other staff I have encountered have been great and super helpful. Pretty much your standard fare for a larger chain company.
I'll likely keep coming here, the location is super convenient and they have what I need. It's just missing the warmth of a neighbourhood pet store (a la Willows, RIP).
