Last time I was in, this store had stopped selling puppies and kittens which is great. I'm a big fan of people adopting their pets from shelters.
Their fish/reptile section is good and always fairly clean. They also has stingrays in the large tank the last time I was in. They were pretty cool to see. Most of the fish are kept in aquariums that are way too small though.
Like Philip said, the rodents are kept on the wrong type of bedding but I've noticed they started cleaning the cages a little more frequently.
I don't really know much about birds but I've seen the employees take out the parrots and such to give them human interaction. This makes me very happy to see.
In the end this store is pretty decent compared to a few other pet stores I've seen. Including ones part of this chain. -

I'm not impressed by this pet store at all. On several occasions I have gone in to see the animals living in small filthy cages. One time I was in and they were selling a little pig who wouldn't stop screaming it was so stressed out. Broke my heart.
The rodents are also kept on pine/cedar wood shavings. Anyone who keeps rodents (rats in particular) know they are prone to respiratory illness and this type of bedding is very harmful to them.
One good thing, they have a large selection of fish, reptile and rodent merchandise for those "exotic" pet owners. That's pretty much the only thing I would buy from them. I would never buy any pets.
My advise, buy from a company who treat their animals with respect. -

I normally find myself a little ticked when I leave a store like this, but today I stopped in to get a small amount of dog food because the vet isn't open on Sundays and I'm out.
The girl in the isle stopped and asked me if I needed anything and so I told her what I was up to, she seemed very knowledgeable and pointed me exactly to what I needed.
Very friendly and courteous.
