Review from Rosie S.
This is now the place we buy our dog Malik's food most often, and it's mostly a matter of convenience. This place is on my way home from work.
They always have her brand in stock (Wellness Super 5 Mix for Small Breeds - Adult Health - http://www.wellnesspet...), in both 4 lb. and 12 lb. bag sizes, which is very rare. I used to have to call around to different pet food stores about a week before we ran out of food to order/check supply of a big bag of her food. Now I can just show up here with confidence!
I also love the selection of treats and toys - in various sizes and prices, so I can choose a few different small/sample sizes of kinds of doggie snacks before investing in a big bag. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the different brands and health benefits, and they are all pet owners themselves, of course.
They are fantastic with Malik, who can be quite wary of strangers, and they always manage to slip her a treat or two while I'm busy shopping!
The lost star is because getting in & out of the parking lot can be a hassle. It's in the same little plaza as a garage, with cars constantly coming and going or cars parked all over the place. It's very challenging, especially during busy Bloor Street rush hour, but that's the only negative part of this wonderful Pet Valu location! -

This is the closest pet store to where we live, but I've stopped in to 3 or 4 stores in Bloor West (with my dog) as well and this one is still the best for variety, helpful staff, and always full water/treat bowls. They have a cat that lays around near the front and is open to being pet despite my ties to a dog.
I recently went in to get some dog booties since the salt was clearly painful for him. The worker encouraged me to open a box and try putting one on my dog immediately to see if they were the right size. I was thankful, both for her thoughtfulness and for finding out that my dog is deathly afraid of booties before spending the money.
Another time we got there (in the rain) just as he was closing up. He let us in so I could grab a big bag of dog food. (Thank you!)
Items are a little pricey, but if you like taking your dog in to a store, this one has healthy food choices, a decent selection of everything dog related (collars, clickers, toys, poopy bags, combs, booties, snacks, etc), and a nice staff.
