Recently it was suggested that I try writing again (beyond my yelping ways) so I decided I would try my hand at journaling (sp). Since I was at Lonsdale Quay already I thought I would take a wee peek in here. Perks is a cute little store that sells the top end pens (for ex. Cross), unique greeting cards, and beautiful journals. I will admit that I was drooling over the leather bound journals but the price was a little out of my range. There was another that I liked that I could afford but being me, I wasn't keen on the blank pages, I like my lined paper. When I asked about the journals, the lady was VERY helpful. She even advised that the journal I was eyeing in my price range also came with lined paper. Well gosh darn it I was sold. She also let me know that when I have finished with that particular journal all I have to do is go back to her and I can get a new insert and just keep reusing the cover, Yippee for me.
I was impressed with the quality of service, information given and the cleanliness of the store that I will definitely be back. Maybe I will invest in a fancy dancy pen.
Just a wee PS to this....my dog also liked the journal and promptly chewed the cover! -

What is this place? It's a tiny store on the upper floor of Lonsdale Quay, it's been there forever, and it sells greeting cards, Cuban cigars, pens, watches, and those bizarre thermometer things with the floating bulbs inside. The product mix is eclectic, but they must be doing something right because the store is one of the original Quay tenants and it's still going strong.
I've had the occasion to shop here many times over the years, especially when the husband went through that cigar-smoking phase, and I've always found them pleasant to deal with. So go on, you bizarre little gift shop, you! Come to think of it, it's a rare shop that deals in manly accessories and gifts, and Perks fills that gifts-for-men niche quite nicely. -

If you want a Mont Blanc or Cross pen or a Swiss Army Knife, check out Perks. They also have a collection of watches, wallets, brief cases, and greeting cards. I guess this could be a good place to buy a graduation gift or a "congratulations on your promotion/new job" gift.
