I totally agree with Jollean on this one, if Marie Antoinette had to shop for her castle she would surely come and shop here and probably buy out the whole store. This is an amazing haven of rich and succulent home furnishings and home decoration. I have not seen pieces here at any other home decor in Calgary, that's because they scour the earth to get the most interesting and sexy pieces.
Peridot is a Vancouver based company with this Calgary location as its only Canadian sister. The two stores work very closely and according to Dawn the owner she had to ship out her best jewellery to Vancouver last week with the epic crowd draws of the Olympics.
Although things are higher in price here, I don't seem being more pricey than urban barn, or Eq3 plus you are get a unique product that you won't see in another person's home here in Calgary unless you went shopping here together.
Dawn the owner is as warm and exquisite as the products in her store, she has a great spirit and has a keen eye for things that are beautiful. My review does not do this store service, so please check out my photos; they will do most of my explaining for me. Magnifique Peridot ! -

My tartlets, you should know I only deducted a star because I lament that I can't afford every beautiful item in this gorgeous store. *pauses to cry*
But oooo la la! I'd describe this store as modern French sheik with an antique touch filled with colours, matte neutrals, shiny metals and the occasional jungle print. C'est magnifique! This is where Marie Antoinette would shop if she visited Calgary...some of the stylings could fit in Versailles and yet, it's a modern twist on beautiful styles of eras past be it 1700's style chairs or 1960's mirrors. There's a hint of exotic at times and many pretty whimsical things like metal side tables made to look like branches, drum lights made of shells and luxurious gold room dividers. I still remember them having a giant ceramic white shell filled with milky blown glass bubbles that I wanted to put in my home just to feel like a mermaid.
If anything, go visit this store to feel decadent and pretty!
