People's Co-op is a great stop on Commercial Drive.
They've got a great selection of local and Canadian literature as well as a comprehensive list of titles on political, economic and geographic subjects. in additon, you'll find of periodicals with a leftist perspective.

If you are searching for feminist books, queer anthologies, or vegan cook books, you should check out People's Co-op. They've been around since 1945 selling progressive and socially significant literature. The shop is small, but it gets the job done as the only co-op bookstore in BC.

Small local shop filled with "alternative" publications, focusing on; political, existential, local poetry, Canadian fiction, crime and media. Great selection of urban lefty magazines.

This store is a great alternative to the big box bookstores. They carry a substantial selection in a number of categories and genres including gay/lesbian literature, and all things "political". The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. You can feel good supporting a bookstore like this one. They also have a great selection of magazines.
