It's funny, I had no idea this place had such a following when I used to live nearby and frequented the place. I used to just get a bar seat pretty quickly on my solo mornings so never noticed the overwhelming lines for weekend brunch.

That being said, I'm very happy this place has such a following because I want them to stay around! They have a great, affordable brunch deal with coffee/tea and OJ or a mimosa and one brunch entree. The amazing thing is that EVERY ENTREE I'VE HAD HAS BEEN AWESOME.

    I've tried:
Asparagus and Feta scramble - I don't love feta but I love this combination
Various French Toast combinations - One of my favorites was in fall they did an apple and pumpkin combination. So good!
The FBLT - Immediate kudos for having fake meat options! On top of that, it is delicious and I love the black pepper mayo. Do go light on the mayo though or it can be overpowering. I just ask for it on the side.

Friends have had the salmon wrapped poached eggs and various omelet specials and enjoyed them as well.

You will always be my neighborhood and NY brunch spot, Penelope. I just hope you aren't as crowded next time I come!

Came here for a brunch, we stuck with the french toast and eggs benedict--which are solid choices. The mimosas use cheap champagne, which cuts down on the experience.

Long wait times, but there are shops up and down the block that you can browse and they can call you when the table is ready.

This place is adorable. I mean walking down the street on a dingy rainy morning sucked, but as soon as I saw Penelope's with the cute outer interior my heart skipped a beat at the thought of eating some delicious breakfast.

My mom and I split a strawberry/coconut waffles and Penny's egg sandwich. They were both really, really good! Strawberry/coconut waffles were very filling- it came with waffle quadrants with coconut shavings (DELISH) and a side of fresh strawberries and papayas... who knew papayas went well with waffles? They weren't overly sweet and it was heavenly.

The Penny's sandwich, however, could have used a bit of flavor boost. I ended up peppering and putting a bit of ketchup inside to add flavor, but I believe it came with a bit of pesto-y sauce inside as well. We got it on an English muffin with ham, and you can choose to have other types of meat or have it on a croissant bread instead. But it was still pretty delicious.

The food was filling and overall this place was a good experience. It's a fairly small place and there will be waiting lines, and it's probably not good for large groups. But if you want a nice breakfast with your lovely plus-one, this will be it.

I've only had breakfast here and I'll need to try their lunch/dinners, but I have high expectations for them too!

Best pesto I've ever had... seriously (including Italy).  Try the Penny Egg Sandwich on a croissant and french fries for breakfast, you will be dying to go back.  Always a line for brunch Saturday and Sunday's, but worth the wait (plus enjoy your coffee while you wait from the self-service machine near the host stand).

Best brunch place in Murray Hill (possibly even Manhattan).

I would give this place a solid 3.5 stars. I think I had great expectations for this place but it was just alright. Don't get me wrong, it was good but it wasn't worth 4 stars for me. The omelette tasted very diner-ish. Very homey. So if you're looking for some homey food this is the place. The decorations are also very cozy so it's a nice place to have breakfast with family or friends. The interior is just super cute and the waiters are very friendly. Not worth the hype but for breakfast, a pretty good deal.

I went here for dinner last night and i only wish I had left-overs to have it again tonight!  Too bad I completely gobbled it up because it was so delicious!

After reading all the reviews on Yelp, I knew I had to try to chicken meatballs, but, in my post-finals promise to eat more healthy food, I wasn't up for the full sub.  So, instead, I got the meatball salad!  Now, meatballs on a salad, you may think, this is crazytalk!  But it was freakin delicious.  Chicken meatballs, fresh arugula, some cheese grated over the top - perfection!

In addition to the delicious food, the restaurant was completely adorable and our waiter was so kind - even gave us a free brownie on our way out (though i suspect that was more about him having a crush on my friend than anything else ...).

Can't wait to come here for brunch some time!

My friends and I came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch right after checking into our hotel. We had some time to kill before going back to the hotel and we found this place through Yelp.

My first impression upon walking up to this place, I remember thinking, "awww this is such a cute place!" The building is very quaint and it had this 'country home' feel to it, which I thought was unique. We just missed the breakfast hours which I was a little sad about because their breakfast menu seemed good. The inside was a little smaller than what I'm used to but I guess small restaurants are common in NYC. The place was really busy and there isn't much of a waiting area inside the restaurant.

When ordering, I was deciding between the Hilly Cheesesteak sandwich and the Nice Chicken Meatball sandwich. I ended up choosing the Hilly Cheesesteak sandwich and I wasn't disappointed. It came with fries on the side.

The Hilly Cheesesteak sandwich was very tasty although I was a little disappointed that there weren't enough mushrooms (bc that's what swayed me to order this sandwich in the first place). The fries were just ok and to be honest, I like McDonald's or Burger King fries better than Penelope's. I tried the Nice Chicken Meatball sandwich because my friend ordered it and I thought it wasn't as tasty as my Hilly Cheesesteak, but it was still good.

I definitely want to come back here for breakfast.

I knew from the reviews on Yelp that if we didn't want to wait in line, we had to be here early which turned out to be very true!!

Thank God both my friend and I are morning people, so we ended up arriving at the tiny place at 8.45AM or so and the place was already almost packed.

We got seated within a few minutes and both of us ordered savory brunch options. My spinach pie was delicious and my friend seemed to enjoy her eggs too.

Sadly, our server wasn't really as great as the food. She was slow and didn't really care or apologize when the cappuchino she brought over spilled across the little plate.

Would prolly still come back! Enjoy!!

A point for the quaint decor and homey ambiance, and a point for likely being the best brunch option in the Kip's Bay / Midtown area. Other than that, not quite sure what all the fuss is about. It sure can't be over the food, which was decidedly average. Thank goodness we didn't wait too long to be seated (granted, we arrived at 2:30 for brunch), or it would've been an even bigger letdown.

My nutella french toast didn't come with near enough nutella, and what was there was unevenly distributed (a clump in the middle, desert everywhere else). The highlight of Brenna's penny egg sandwich was the pesto sauce, which they also could have been more generous with.

Worth a visit if you happen to be in the area for brunch, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Penelope was so worth each and every blister I earn walking from Hell's Kitchen to Murray Hill to dine there.  I met my friend Glenn there for the Mac & Cheese but could tell the Chicken Meatballs was her pride and joy from the menu so I did what any glutinous red blooded American would do and had both. All I can say is I had a flavor orgy in my mouth that would have Plato's Retreat shut down (kiddie who saw Star Wars Episode One in the theaters before Episode Four might need to Google that reference)!

Only two things topped dinner: our waiter and decedent Peanut Butter Blondie.  Our waiter smiled and easily handled all my annoying requests (one such half-caf/half-decaf coffee with skim milk with my full-fat dessert) and kept on top of our adult beverages as well as the entire support staff never letting a finished plate linger in the table.  They so earned an an excessive tip.

As for the Peanut Butter Blondie with Heath Bar Crunch,  moist through and through and so good that I almost regret cutting a slice off and giving it to the Mom at the next table whose family ordered every dessert but that one, including the season's special strawberry shortcake, which was the tables favorite before I knocked it off its pedestal.

I shall make the pilgrimage to this Promise Land again, for I know I shall be rewarded.

Maybe I needed to come for brunch because dinner definitely did not impress me all that much.  The wait was pretty long for a table of two and then I basically ended up leaving hungry (which I am definitely not ok with).  I had the "When Veggie Met Sally." The veggie burger was tasty, yet there was not much of it.  I could not even taste that there was dressing on the salad and there was a minute amount of goat cheese.  I understand that this was supposed to be a healthy meal; however , I do not think it should have been THAT healthy.

I will re-review if I come back for the famed brunch.  Hopefully, it's better!

The place is always crowded, and there is always a long line -- but definitely worth the wait.

Charming little spot with cute country - french decor, and a wonderful location for brunch. I had the french toast, and enjoyed every bite.  Our waitress was so attentive, and accommodating.  She even took the time and effort to search for all of our t-shirt sizes, but they did not have the design or size we needed :(  She offered to give us a call once they came in, so that was a nice follow-up effort.

Do come here with a hearty appetite. The meals are filling!

I've been dying to try this place out and I finally did yesterday. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I got the strawberry & coconut waffles with fruit (wanted plain waffles but they didnt' have any) and my boyfriend got the Penny Egg Sandwich with bacon and home fries. His sandwich got heavy after a while being that it was on a croissant and I only had two slices of my waffles plus the freshly cut strawberries and papaya. Their grapefruit juice was too sour to my liking but the cranberry juice was really good. Overall, I think I'd give this place something from 3.5-4 stars. I might be back to try the nutella french toast which is only served on weekends and the abuelo's egg sandwich.

    totally not worth the wait...

we had an assortment of dishes and their brunch food is nothing good or special... just expensive.

i am a french toast lover and this one sucked. too dry and not juicy.
i can make better at home.... -_-

it looks nice inside but that's about it.

I found out about this place on Yelp, and stopped by for a late brunch on a weekend. Perfect New York-y brunch spot with a lot of character. The breakfast sandwich was one of the best I've ever had and I loved the pesto type sauce that came with it.

You can sit by a window and watch NY passerby's, which I love. This place has so much character. Most of the tables are actually desks and people leave notes and receipts with scribblings in the drawers. A super fun, New York feeling brunch experience.

Okay food.  The Penny Egg Sandwich is nothing special, in fact it reminds me of Alaska Airline's breakfast sandwich.  My wife ate the Abuelo's Egg Sandwich which was better than Penny's but still didn't live up to the other poster's ratings.
Okay service.  Aloof hipster servers who don't really seem to care that you're there.  Probably wouldn't return with so many other options...

Penelope is a very charming little place that provides a great retreat from the busy NYC streets. Came here for lunch and it was pretty packed, but there was no wait. They seem to be busiest during the breakfast/brunch hours.

The service was good -- straight-forward and fast. Their unlimited coffee or tea for $2 is an awesome deal, and the coffee is good. We started with the Mac n Cheese appetizer and that was honestly the least impressive thing we ate. It was pretty bland and needed salt, and the bread crumb topping was way too scarce.

My lunch was the Veggie burger since we ate here on Good Friday and my mother-in-law threatened our lives if we had any meat. It was VERY tasty for a veggie burger, full of flavor and I loved the pesto-mayo that came on it. I got it with Brie cheese which is definitely the way to go. I chose to get a side salad instead of the french fries and that costs $1 extra which is kind of a bummer. My $11 burger turned into $15 after the sub side salad, cheese and added avocado. Still, I think the prices are pretty awesome for what you get (by NYC standards).

Hubby got the FBLT (Fake Bacon). It was good, but they forgot the best part of the sandwich which was supposed to be the black-pepper balsamic mayo, so it was very dry and quite boring. However, the French Fries were awesome.

We got a piece of Red Velvet for dessert and it was honestly pretty good. The icing was a bit too sweet, but the cake was moist. All in all, I would definitely come back again, maybe next time for breakfast!

    What a darling place!

My colleague and I happened upon Penelope's via the Yelp app on my phone when looking for a breakfast place before heading off to appointments on a busy weekday morning. Although the restaurant was very crowded, we were able to find a table quickly and were waited on within 3 mins. of sitting down.

I, of course, had to try the famous Nutella french toast and boy - was it everything I hoped for and more! It was prepared perfectly with the perfect amount of sweetness. I nearly ate everything on my plate but the hearty portion size will fill you up quickly!

A huge plus was the fresh squeezed orange juice!

Overall, my colleague and I were very impressed with this little gem in the city. I would absolutely return if I have the chance next time I am in town on business and have already recommended it to others!

Note: The service was very good as well. In a busy place like this I'd expect typical, dismissive NYC service. That was not the case here. Very happy about that!

Je suis en amour avec vous Penelope! (Shhhhh, don't tell my GF!!)

Definitely has a top spot in my book of brunch places in Manhattan. Great food, dainty /cutesy place, great ambiance. What else is there to ask?

    FOOD:
Came on a brunch date with the GF and it was Delish. the two of us ordered

    1) Salmon Wrapped Poached Eggs - The GF got this one and it was delish! The eggs were poached perfectly and were runny when opened. The salmon was thinly sliced, tasted fresh and wrapped around. The entire dish is actually very filling. It comes with salad and a nice Hollandaise on top like the usual benedicts.  They executed it perfectly and was brought out hot right off the skillet. The brunch deal came with either a mimosa or a coffee & OJ! We got the latter even though the GF was craving some alcohol, but since I was being fussy and wanted OJ she opted out and got the latter...aw Thx boo! You are SO Awesome!

    2)   Penny Egg Sandwich - Many yelp reviewers said to try this, but my gf got it last time and said she didn't like it all that much. However she did say she got the soysauge and that may be why she didn't like it so much. I couldn't resist after reading the full menu and that dish seemed to be the most captivating and delicious sounding to me. I went with it and was happily satisfied. IT WAS SO GOOD! I got it with bacon, and a croissant. The eggs were cooked just perfectly, not overcooked and not under where its way too runny! (They were so soft!) The cheese melted in between and it was the best breakfast sandwich I have had in a LONG LONG time. I gobbled it up so fast!

    SERVICE:
They were nice, someone flustered with the amount of people in there, and all MALE! lol. Don't know why, but when we went all male hosts and waiters and what not. Overall, above avg service.

    ATMOSPHERE:
Where they got a lot of points. Really cute and dainty. Got a really French-esque family brunch store vibe. Really cute and when they have their windows open, it becomes very inviting and transparent with the outdoors.  Love it!

    SUMMARY:
Great spot for a brunch date! I recommend the two we got, Salmon wrapped poached eggs and the Penny egg sandwich is a must must must! I would stay away from the soysauge as the protein though. SECRET TIP: They don't take ressies so when you come and put your name on the list, put your number down. They don't ask for your number and it speeds up your wait TREMENDOUSLY. Sometimes when your sitting outside or go elsewhere to burn time, you will go for that length of time, but the automated system will buzz you and let you know you are 5 min away from being seated. People will see the long wait and some will still put their name down and just leave and sometimes, they just have the wait time estimate off so our 1 hour wait turned into a 20 min wait! SO AWESOME! we have been turned away once cause the wait was too long and this was a great way to start off our day with such a hook up! I felt so clutch for doing that! : D

Strawberries baked inside the waffle...mm-mm-mm. This place also had the coolest ambience for a breakfast spot. Great little place but not worth the hour (or more) wait. The sweet thing is that they have coffee carafes by the waiting area that you can help yourself to while you're waiting (and settle the tab later!)

The space is very cute, the food above average, and the price really awesome by NYC standards ($14.50 brunch entree, including one drink - alcoholic, coffee, or juice).

I went with 3 of my girlfriends over the long weekend. I love that they do brunch here on holidays! We ordered the:

Nutella french toast (Three slices of french toast filled with warm chocolate hazelnut filling, dusted with powdered sugar, served with a side of fresh fruit.) Exactly what it sounds like.

Salmon wrapped poached eggs (Two farm fresh eggs wrapped in smoked salmon on toasted black bread with green goddess dressing.  Served with greens.) YUM! Very satisfying

Pumpking Waffles (with appled butter, dried cranberries, toasted cinnamon-cardamom pecans, and warm baked apples.) Better than the French toast!

Nice enough place, but cramped on the inside. The food was fine, but nothing special, and we had to wait almost 30 minutes for a pair of omelets.

Other reviewers seem to think the prices here are reasonable, but I think people in this neighborhood accept paying too much. $9 for a three egg omelet? $3.75 for OJ in a comically small glass?

I've been here for lunch plenty of times in the past few months.  The food is fine, nothing really special, except maybe the fries.

Nothing has been rather memorable, the chicken pot pie was a salty disappointment and the chicken meatballs were rather lame.

Four stars?  Yelp- you screwed the pooch this time.  Man, was I looking forward to this- with over 700 reviews and a 4 star rating; how could this not be paradise?   It sucked. Sucked. Sucked.

Let me start out by saying, It's so rare to enter a location and be legitimately torn on various dishes found on the menu.  But such was the quality problem that awaited me at Penelope.

Nutella French Toast- described as filled with Nutella chocolate and dusted with powder sugar.

Pumpkin waffles- topped with candied harvest treasures.

And the bblt- a "double bacon" sourdough sandwich; which for a baconphile like like myself always calls my name.

Fortunately, my girlfriend and I were able to split the Nutella french toast and bblt- and true to form "2 out of 3 ain't bad."

Fast forward, the french toast had hardly any Nutella, and the bread was nothing above acceptable.  The sandwich was good, but nothing great.  There were no drink specials; brunch came with coffee OR a mimosa or some other kind of pomegranate/alcohol drink that they were out of.  There was no alcohol in the mimosa.

The table next to us ordered the exact same thing, and I overheard grumblings of their disenchantment as well.  "I can't taste the Nutella."

Whenever the door opened, the temperature dropped 20 degrees.  It was tight and every time a server went by me he smacked into my chair.  It sucked. Sucked.  Sucked.

There's usually at least an hour wait at Penelope's for brunch but there really aren't very many other great brunch choices in this area, so I would say it is worth it!

This place has a really cute atmosphere and is a great place to eat. I've been here a few times so I've gotten to sample quite a few items on the menu. The service is great!

My favorite and go-to here is the penny egg sandwich. It was the perfect combination of egg, cheese, pesto, and bacon (which i added) on a crossaint. It sounds very standard but it was truly the best egg sandwich I've had in my life.

I also really liked the pumpkin waffles, which were not overly sweet and an interesting combination.

I've also tried the nutella french toast (I love nutella but it wasn't as good as I expected). BLT was good but not anything special.

Overall, you should definitely come try this place out!

I think we've been eating here about once a week on average since we discovered Penelope's last October. It offers some qualities that very few restaurants in the area (or in Manhattan) do. It is casual yet charming, the food is simple but high-quality, and there are no pretentions. It feels like something you'd find on the West coast or in the Hamptons.

It's the perfect place to meet a few friends for a laid-back dinner, though large groups of more than 6 might have a hard time squeezing in. It does get crowded, but if you go during off-hours your wait will not be long (weeknight dinners before 7:00pm or brunch on the weekends before 10:30am or after 2:00pm). They also deliver.

They have lots of great vegetarian options including: the FBLT (fake bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and pesto mayo on grilled sourdough), the hummus sandwich, salads, and soups are my faves. And the desserts... magic bars, cupcakes, peanut butter blondies, and the BEST carrot cake I've ever, ever had.

Service has always been very friendly and prompt. We'll be back many times as long as we live in the neighborhood.

Love the decor of this cute place, as Andrea P calls it, "shabby chic". We had about an hour and a half wait on a Saturday afternoon, and it seems pretty standard. The food was good but not mind-blowing, and the one hour wait is pushing it. The nutella french toast was disappointing because there wasn't enough nutella and the bread was a little bit dry. The penny egg sandwich is actually really good, with the fluffiest eggs I've ever had folded neatly into layers in a croissant. Delicious pesto dip as well. The penny egg sandwich - a 4. The nutella french toast - a 2. Hence the overall rating of 3. If there were no wait I'd definitely come back for the sandwich!

A nice little brunch place.  My wife and I were fortunate enough to get a seat right away, though it was at the bar.  Penelope runs a simple and easy set of brunch items that include your choice of beverage.

The pumpkin waffles with the apple butter was sweet and filling, while the smoke salmon poached eggs delicately balanced salty and savory.

The place is reasonably priced for a NYC brunch place.  Although everything is good, I can't honestly say I was wowed by anything.  I'd definitely come back, but don't think it makes my short list of top brunch places in the city.

I LOVE Penelope, I just wish the line wasn't so long all of the time.  The staff is nice, the atmosphere is cute  and the prices are extremely reasonable ($15 prix-fixe brunch and it includes a very yummy Apple Cider Mimosa).

My favorite has to be Salmon Wrapped Poached Eggs.  The whole combination is absolutely delicious.  I also like the Nutella French Toast.  For dinner, I love the Spinach and Beets salad.  I would go a little lighter on the croutons... but other than that - it's really good.

As I said, the line can be pretty crazy, usually about 45 minutes to an hour.  But, if people are willing to wait the long, there must be a reason, right?

    What a treat!

I recently visited NYC for a job interview (which went well, I know you were wondering) and had time to stop at Penelope (aka: the cutest cafe, bakery, and bar).

We showed up at 11:30 a.m. but waited for my friends to arrive (didn't come until 11:50, which meant it was no longer breakfast time). I was really in the market for their pumpkin waffles, home fries, and a large glass of orange juice. Alas, that was not the case.

Instead, I ordered the grilled chicken club which was delicious! Imagine marinated grilled chicken with crispy bacon, melted fontiana, honey mustard, mayo, greens, and tomato on a toasted baguette (I should site this from their website) paired with mouth watering french fries and awesome service and you're at Penelope. My friend ordered macaroni and cheese which was great (just add some extra salt and you're ready to go).

On our way out, I needed a treat for the 4-hour bus ride back to Boston so I got a magic bar... man was that great.

Everything is home made and the people who work there were awesome. A little pricy (for my Boston standards) but totally worth it.

Way back in '03, I think, the Daily News did a article on Penelope so I've been coming here for lunch whenever I'm on the east side...which is not often.

At any rate I fell in love with those warm chicken meatballs with arugula and always get it.

Finally came here for breakfast the other day and as expected, it was terrific. The pumpkin waffles sounded appealing and did not disappoint, it was quite the large portion  but I stuffed it down with a side of bacon no less!!

Penelope is a great place and reasonably priced with a New England-y kind of vibe.

I'm a fan...and more than likely will always be.

I really enjoy going out to breakfast, so I had high hopes, but really, what's all the rage? We waited a while for a seat in a packed house with a line out the door. We sat in an tightly packed room of tables and chairs with a noise level of "very loud." I liked the atmosphere though, it somehow felt cozy and quirky at the same time. The servers were friendly and really hustling. But the food, eh, really nothing special. I got the 3- ingredient omelet which was served in a rubber-like state. Literally, it was so overcooked that I had to use a knife to help break away pieces because my fork wouldn't suffice. The potatoes were decent, but no toast included for $14.50.  I hate to disagree with the all the Penelope-lovers; however, with the exception of a creative menu, there was nothing here to impress.

Delicious food in a charming little place.  I really appreciate the many vegetarian and vegan options.  I especially like the FBLT and the beet salad.  I have never come for brunch because the line is so very long (over an hour) but I hear from friends that it is amazing.  My biggest complain is the prices.  I understand this is NYC, but $2.50 for a soda is a bit much.  They aren't very expensive, and the food is great, but I would eat there a lot more if the prices are just slightly lowered.

Really great brunch place. Penelope reminds me of a home, there's a bakery type counter on the right as you come in, a bar towards the far back and a seating area on the left with cute old fashioned tables that are actually desks.

The decor is really cute! The "desk-tables" have cabinets that can be pulled out and they're filled with notes written on napkins, business cards, etc. from other customers which I, as a typical girl, thought was adorable.

The food is adorable. I've come here for dinner and for brunch and both were really great. There's nothing flashy, just simple all american food.

Beware, brunch wait can get really long! However, sometimes they exaggerate. Once the hostess said 1.5 hrs and we were sat within 20 min.

Tip: Get there early. Grab some free coffee while you wait. And do your best to order everything at once. You won't see your waiter that often.

Oh my god. The wait here is ridonkulous!!
Why is there a wait? Is it all hype? Are these people all first-timers checking out to see why this place is so busy? NOPE! This place is pretty good. Their wait time is pretty accurate. Just hope a few people give up and drop out of line. Be sure your entire party is present when they call your name because you will be bumped.

I enjoyed their complimentary coffee while I waited - take care to add their home made sugar cubes. It's precious and delicious (it's sugar, you really can't mess it up)

I went splitsy with Paul H. for their poached egg and salmon plate. it was served with wheat toast (yes!) and a very fresh and bright salad. I love a me a good salad. If i'm out and about, there better not be any iceberg in my salad. All hell will break loose. Not really. I'll just be bummed and pick at it. Thankfully Penelope didn't want me to be sad after my 45 minute wait so she gave me a lively mixed green salad. I want to try their red velvet cake but unfortunately they were out.

As mentioned by Tiffany D and many others, get there early. We had to wait over an hour and arrived at Penelope at 1030am.

Sure the place is packed so don't expect to receive the best service.

The food is great. Expect to pay $14 for lunch. The salmon with poached eggs was great. Their other dishes look great and I will definitely be back to try their desserts as well.

I am not exactly understanding the love that people are gushing over for this place.

I tried to go here for brunch one day and showed up a bit too late, surprised to see many people outside.  However, a return visit for breakfast anotyher day while still busy was not a problem.

Service is fine and cordial, and it's a nice space.  Coffee is made with care, my espresso was decent, and the wait time is reasonable, nothing earth shattering fast though.  You do have to wait but it's not agonizing.

I went for a basic omelette, it arrived while I sample my parteners pumpkin waffles.  Cooked well side potatoes, way too spiced with paprika and black pepper.  I like spice believe me but this was even a little much.  The omelette was just a standard jam packed stuffed country style and hard, nothing fancy.  I definitely prefer French style.  Pumpkin waffles come with a side of apple filled butter, and some sliced toasted apple pie.

The food here is fine, but it's basic.  There is nothing earth shatteringly impressive here for basic breakfast food, seems people are more obsessed with the decor than what's on the plate.

It's a fine place to grab a simple bite, but nothing I would ever wait in line for.

Dinner was nothing special. Chicken sandwich wasn't tasteful with tough bread and average fries. Would have preferred fast food sandwiches over this. Soup was decent and dessert red velvet cake was bland.

Place is cute and service was good. Must be a better breakfast place. I'd skip Penelope for lunch or dinner.
