"Sometimes you want expensive"
This isn't something you will hear from me often. I love finding deals. But I'm a sucker for coffee shops and sometimes tea rooms. The idea of a tea room always strikes me as odd. I have a picture in my head of classical music and people talking about The New Yorker. But that is not the case at Pekoe Tea Lounge.
This tea room is very, very relaxing. In fact, I think I can safely say this is my new spot to practice lines (I'm an Actor...and yes, by "lines" I mean scripts lol).
The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend the Chocolate Truffle tea. And they give free refills of hot water. I only had a gluten free cookie. $3 was a bit too much to spend on it but I was very happy with the taste.
This place is small but perfect. The reason I like its price is that this means the regular public might be turned off and head towards cheaper options. But if you want a very relaxing atmosphere, great staff and amazing tea, you have to go to Pekoe. There really is no other option I've seen. -

With a laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff, this tea-house is a must-visit for tea afficionados intending to sample different types of tea. They have a convenient setup where one can freely 'sniff' the different offerings of teas. I went there with 5 others and tried the rose tea, tiramisu flavored, and jasmine flavored flowering tea (?)...Each came in an individual-sized press, and one had the option of choosing their own 'bone' china from a decent selection displayed against the wall.
The decor is pretty warm and laidback, pairing nicely with an attentive staff that comes around to replenish one's press w/ more hot water.
The major downside of this place is the food. I tried the soup of the day (minestrone) which was not made in-house. While it was locally sourced from Soup, etc., it was bland and flavorless. The menu stated that the bowl of soup was accompanied by focaccia bread, but they were more like two small crouton-sized pieces. I also had their cheese scone which was heated up in the microwave, making the texture chewy and unappetizing. It was also bland. Finally, the tuna fish sandwich which was grilled nicely on the panini press hardly had any tuna. Seriously?? It could have easily been called tuna-flavored sandwich...
I'm giving an overall 2.5 rating, as it gets 1 star for food and 4 stars for our experience with the teas. I am rounding up to 3 stars as the visit was still enjoyable, and the staff attentive/helpful... -

Been coming here on and off for several years since it was part of Steeps Tea. The teas have usually been good and they make a decent chai. Certainly not authentic chai but decent.
Hadn't ever received poor service until a recent visit. We were out for a bike ride and stopped in for a quick tea. I ordered one medium chai (pricey at just under $5) for my partner and I to share. The proprietor then immediately asked in a high pressure way if I wouldn't like an additional drink since there were two of us. I declined her offer and sat down. Not sure if she was just having a bad day but I felt that her tone was unnecessary since no mention was made of a minimum charge per customer. She was uninterested and unfriendly for the rest of our 10 minute visit. We will not be returning after that experience but more than happy to share the experience here with readers. Pity. -

This quaint tea lounge is a pleasant contrast to the bustling neighbourhood outside its doors. Located along Broadway in the middle of the medical district, Pekoe Tea Lounge offers a bar for a quick pit-stop or comfortable lounge seating to socialize.
There's an abundant variety of tea with comical names (ie. "Shitty Weather Tea" - ideal for our rainy days). Regardless of what tea suits your need, the barista will be able to transform it into a hot or cold drink for you.
They also offer wraps with curious fillings. I had the butter chicken with rice wrap. It wasn't the best butter chicken I had, but was tasty and filling and perfect on-the-go.
Prices are reasonable and standard. If you're ever in the neighbourhood or planning a meeting, Pekoe Tea Lounge offers you a nice environment to relax. -

It doesn't quite have the calm, classic feel I prefer in my tea rooms. Things changed here when it shifted from Steeps to Pekoe, and while I like some of the changes, others feel tacky.
I do like that there's a variety of unique cup-and-saucer pairings to choose from. Also, the tea was delightful. -

Pekoe Tea Lounge
Atmosphere: It is pleasant with instrumental music. Nothing special, however, nothing ghetto either.
Service: The lady behind the til was very very friendly and accommodating with me.
Food: Very good selection of black teas, my favorite is the black cherry tea.
Cost: The loose tea is $$$, however, the cup of tea, for gourmet tea is way cheaper than Starbucks which is what I appreciated. -

I've always wanted to go here, since it looks so cozy. I got a Roi-boos Chai, which was quite good, but not worth $4.65.
They also don't have wi-fi, but probably 90% of customers I see in most other coffee shops are on their laptops. Most will just pinch the wi-fi off the neighbours while sippin' tea in Pekoe. This last point is the reason I'd go elsewhere. -

Super cozy, proper tea shop with tons of selection. They have a fireplace and plenty of seating. This place has a good buzz.. I hosted an interview here (for those of you that interview people) and then I was able to hunker down and read a good book. Their food isn't too bad, either, and my quiche went nicely with my tea. They are also open later than most coffee shops around Vancouver.
The only drawback is the parking.. this place is not walking distance from me (1hr by bus) and the parking is more expensive than the tea. -

Been here many times to get my tea on!
This place has a great selection, the only problem is trying to pick just one!
This super comfy tea house will suit all your tea needs and the employees really know what they are talking about, so if you are looking for an obscure tea, don't hesitate to ask. -

I'm still loving this place!
My new drink of choice: The authentic chai =) It's makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over and is the perfect drink for winter weather (although it's been strangely warm recently)...
I love the ambience here - it makes you want to sit and relax into your tea of choice (and there's LOTS of choices) for hours on end - and trust me, if you have a good book, it's pretty easy to do!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Shared a pot of jasmine tea and a huge slice of carrot cake with a friend here. It's posh with comfortable chairs and mellow setting.
I love how they let you pick your own teacup out....so that you can choose one to your mood or personality; such as a dainty english porcelain one, or a modern one, or a no frills chinese cup with no saucer....it's all displayed on an elegant antique butcher.
If you sit near the front window you can get (steal) free wi-fi from Park Inn across the street. I didn't really steal it though....I was a guest for the previous two nights. ;p -

Vancouver is definitely a coffee city, but for those of us that are also tea aficionados there aren't that many options available.
Steeps is one of the few places that offers a solid selection. They specialize in loose leaf teas which is certainly different from tea shops that just have a bunch of different tea bags.
Whenever I'm looking for a good cup of tea this is always the place that springs to mind. -

This place used to be a staple after lunch/brunch with fellow girl friends!
it's a cozy/intimate setting, which a vast variety to choose from. i, myself, prefer non-caffeinated so there's definitely no shortage of rooibos tea. my fave.
the desserts were a bit questionable, so we usually stuck to drinks. it's also grab and go, so i'd buy a little cannister to take home every couple months. decently priced too! -

Good place for a some warm tea break. Lots of varieties of teas. Good place to buy loose tea that are not typical of your local supermarkets.

Very comfortable tea house with such a nice decor!
I saw that they have a big selection of loose leaf teas but that's not what drew my attention. They make real matcha tea, served in a thick ceramic bowl on a wooden plate and they serve real Argentinian maté. For those who don't know, maté is not actually tea, it's a hot drink made from yerba maté that has more caffeine than coffee or tea. They serve Maté at David's Teas but at Steeps it comes in a proper small ceramic cup with a silver straw. It's quite an experience. I have to repeat myself: maté is strong. I'm not the kind of person who gets anything out of Coke because I've been drinking strong black tea all my life but one little cup of maté and I was wired. -

Nice atmosphere, nice staff and a very impressive selection of teas. I'm not even a tea drinker, but some of the flavours are so intriguing that I give it a shot from time to time. Usually I prefer cold drinks, and their ice green tea is great.

Great place with a big selection of teas! It's always fun smelling and picking out which tea to try. They are served in a press and you can pick your own cup from the cupboard. Cozy place for tea and chats.

I had their matcha tea latte and there was more milk flavour than tea. I could hardly taste the rich green tea flavours. They seem to skimp out on the matcha tea powder and the drink wasn't cheap either.
