A tourist "trap" that even the locals love! Seriously, Peggy's Cove is beautiful, and makes a great half day trip out of the city. It seems like it takes forever on the winding roads, but really only about 45 min. The lighthouse is beautiful, but I miss the days where you could actually go in it.

This spot is great in all types of weather, on hot beautiful days you can spend hours here taking photos and hopping around the rocks. It's also completely different kind of beautiful on a stormy day when you can really see mother natures fury from a SAFE distance.

There is plenty of parking, and the restaurant/gift shop has clean washrooms. If you are visiting during peak tourist season, try and arrive early so you miss the tour buses. If you have a full day, head out from here to Lunenburg and Mahone Bay.

PERFECT day to spend. Its a nice 45 minute drive from Halfiax, winding roads and beautiful scenery (suggest gravel for those with a not so happy travel tummy)
Great views no matter where you sit.
Lighthouse is amazing, better in person then in photos. Great history here.
    JUST AWESOME.
I love it, I could head out every weekend.

    The sunsets are AMAZEBALLS!

Great little restaurant and gift shop. Really cool little fishing town, people who live here are very sweet and happy to have a chat.

    My favorite place so far.

Wow! Just simply amazing. One of the nicest spots I've seen in my travels across this great country.

Peggy's cove still maintains it's small fishing village lifestyle amongst the thousands of tourists that come here every year.

It's almost impossible to describe in words; look at the pictures, or better yet, come here yourself!

I spent over an hour just hoping across the large rocks, sitting back and listening to the waves crashing and taking pictures.

Be warned though, it gets FULL of tourists after mid-morning. If you want to experience it like I did, with the whole place to yourself, come early, like 7 or 8 am early, on a week day. It makes for better pictures too :)

I had no idea just how magical Peggy's Cove would be until Ben B took me on a windy road drive to the smooth coastal rocks. According to Ben, and judging by the pictures posted here, we DID strike a lucky break with a brilliantly bright day, complete with crashing waves. Truly, it's been a few days but I'm still awestruck. In fact, I think Peggy's Cove might just be my new happy place. Here's looking at you future stressed moments, I'll be chanting my new visual Peggy's Cove mantra. Honestly, words can't describe it. Check the pictures instead.

There's not much to do in Peggy's Cove, but of the 35 people who live there, we did get a chance to meet a couple of them. Check out the art gallery and the espresso shop inside the gift shop for gabbing with locals, take trip down "Lobster" lane, and peek your head into the window of the empty lighthouse... where you'll likely discover a sign that's both cautionary and comedic... you'll see.

It's only 40 minutes or so from Halifax, so I suggest taking this itinerary: get breakfast/brunch someplace fun... like The Armview and then get going. Get out to those rocks early, avoiding the later afternoon tour buses and don't forget to make a stop at the Swiss Air Memorial.

Heaven right here on earth.  I have to say that this place deserves all the credit that it was received.  It is beautiful.  There is no other way to say it but if you are in Halifax you simply HAVE to go....and if you are anywhere along the maritime you should go out of your way to get here.  It's picturesque and lovely and I could have spent an entire week just BEING here.

Bruce from Bruce's Tours brought us out here and it was fabulous.  Happy anniversary to us!

Peggy's Cove is hands down one of my favourite places in the Maritimes. While a bunch of rocks and a lighthouse may not seem breath-taking, I usually spend a great amount of time in awe during every visit - not bad for a quick 40-minute drive from the city.

The lighthouse is as picturesque as they get and although you can't tour the inside (it's pretty small), I do love the iron-cast warning posted on it in an attempt to keep tourists from getting swept off to sea. Seriously - make sure you get a chance to read it!

My favourite part about Peggy's Cove though has to be hopping around on the rocks and watching the sheer power of mother nature as the waves crash up over the rocks, reaching far deeper inland than you'd ever suspect. If you're lucky enough to visit on a nice weather day (which are unfortunately few and far between when you're standing on the edge of the Atlantic), you could truly spend hours with the right packed lunch or a quick dip into the Sou'Wester Restaurant.

But don't stop after the rocks, make sure you stroll down into the village. There's a gorgeous art gallery, a fantastic espresso bar tucked into a souvenir shop, lovely and authentic fishing gear stored on the docks, and the stone carving of the sailors and the angel.

For the ultimate Peggy's Cove visit, make sure to bring along a friend who isn't from the area. There's nothing better than revisiting this landmark with someone who's bound to be floored by its beauty!

In the midst of a foggy, borderline dreary day, I recommend a visit to Peggy's Cove. Sure, everything is more fun in the sun, but somehow this Nova Section destination seems more authentically Maritime when it's grey out and the water churns ominously below.

Okay, I'm painting a perhaps terrifying picture, but come on - it's usually overcast down around these parts, so why not have visitors experience it in its full traditional splendor?!

Mass amounts of smooth grey rocks curve along the shoreline, while the Atlantic methodically waxes and wanes towards the land. On a misty day, watching the white caps will have you mesmerized, as you ponder the vast nature of this expansive body of water. If the sun does shine, take your shoes off and feel the cool rock against your bare feet.

Put away the camera and stand still in the moment (all of the pictures you planned to take can be bought in postcard form at one of the tourist shops). Once you've mulled over the meaning of life and enjoyed nature, head on over to one of the diners for a traditional greasy spoon meal.

If you're feeling adventurous and you have your own set of wheels, head down the coast and take in some of the other gorgeous scenes sans tourist buses and souvenir shops. You'll find the Swiss Air monument just down the way, along with other postcard images ripe for exploring.

After wanting to all summer, I finally made a trip out to Peggy's Cove and it was an ultimate refresher. Heading straight for the rocks, a good hour of trailing and taking in the original sea breeze was enough to get me back to life.

At the risk of sounding all-knowing: anyone with the means should take a trip. Its a therapeutic provider of peace with easy surroundings, wrestling waters and quaint city tidings. Trailing roads offset the "fisherman's village" type feel with small old homes, boats, and gift shops-- each with its own grand character.

The Jo Beale Gallery is one of the best I've been to-- period. Incredibly inspiring local artists are displayed in the blissful country home, with music and a hill-top perch too further add warmth.

I'd like to get out to Peggy's more often. The people are friendly, the seaside experience is one to relax and rejuvenate. When life gets complicated, forget the shrink and take a drive to Peggy's Cove.

Who knew a lighthouse in the middle of nowhere would be such a fun place to visit? I've been here twice now, and both times were great. If you go at low tide, you can climb further out onto the rocks that look like smooth rolling hills, and get right beside giant waves crashing into cliff faces. And the little village that surrounds the cove, while perhaps in despair of a dying fishing industry, really adds a nice touch of atmosphere to the place. I noticed that a lot of the houses and buildings are for sale. Retirement homes, anyone?

Peggy's Cove is by far one of Nova Scotia's most beautiful tourist attractions. It's a photographers paradise and a travellers most memorable experience.

The travelling roads to Peggy's Cove are quite winedy and narrow, but they prepare you for the beautiful grounds of Peggy's Cove. The drive has beautiful ocean views, wonderful mountain-type rocks, lovely houses and a few really great stores.

When you approach the road leading to Peggy's Cove, be very prepared for a lot of visitors regardless of the weather or the season. Always keep in mind that you are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean so it is always must colder and foggier than normal grounds.

One of the main attractions is the lighthouse that sits at the top of the rocks. It's a beautiful photograph that just adds the cherry on the top for this NS attraction.

Also on the grounds at Peggy's Cove is a restaurant that specializes in serving seafood (go figure) and a wonderful gift shop.

If you travel to NS, it would be a waste to not travel to the magnificent Peggy's Cove. It's a must-see!

Peggy's Cove is the penultimate Nova Scotia beauty spot.  Tourists come from all over the world to take pictures of this rocky outcropping that juts out into the brutal Atlantic.

People wander all over the rocks, taking in the raw beauty and the power of the waves crashing below.  I find, though, that not enough people respect the waves and the way they can sweep people off the rocks into the furious waters.  Every year, it seems as though there are more stories about accidents happening here - and they're entirely preventable.

Catching the sights at Peggy's Cove is a perfect way to spend a summer afternoon, although the wind can be a bit biting.  You'll want to pack a sweater or jacket.

Simply Stunningly beautiful scenery. A colourful fishing village & lighthouse. Try to go when the tour buses aren't filing through heavily as it can get crowded at times. mesmerizing seascapes.
