I have been spinning at Pedal Spin seriously for about 6 months mostyly at the Montrose location. I love Pedal Spin and I'm not easily impressed.
My fav instructors to date are Andy (music is awesome), Natalie (rides like she's on something...in a good way...lol), Ron M & Cindy.
The classes always start on time, and there is NO DRAMA!
If you're looking for a cool spot to workout, with great prices and no contracts....This is the place for sure!!! The new S. Pasadena location is great too! -

I love this studio, in particular I really like the long classes they hold on Sundays with Ani or Eric. During the week I love Rod's classes. He challenges the pace and plays great music.
The two cons (for me) are, they don't pay much attention to form which as an avid spinner drives me crazy when I see people with really bad form on the bikes. The second con, most of the bikes have the SPD/cage combo clips and I have look clips on my shoes, so it was always a struggle to try and lock down one of the two bikes that had those clips. However, they just took care of it and got more look/spd combo pedals so now I am definitely going to spin there more! -

I've been to this location a handful of times, and in all fairness, I am only reviewing the early afternoon classes. Not that this is a bad review...
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros
1. Parking is easy easy easy and free free free... I love the 'burbs.
2. Early afternoon classes are never packed
3. Staff is very friendly
4. Changing room is convenient
Cons... remember, this is only for the early classes
1. Music absolutely is yuck. Let me preface this with the fact that I am on the tad picky side when it comes to music, but when it comes to spinning, I want to pedal like the wind... to booty shakin' jams... mostly hip hop and house music... but it's cool if I hear some other stuff thrown in like top 40 songs... hey, even Britney has some poppin' songs, but the tunes in these classes are a real bummer.
The songs are slow paced and don't motivate me at all. Maybe I shouldn't focus so much on it, but this is spinning! It's just you and the bike! I swear, this one class played the same sounding songs (electronic dance music) and rhythm throughout the entire 55 minutes.
2. Not that I am an expert by any means, but I felt the classes were slightly beginner style. When I used to spin at the Y or at Crunch, there were a lot of jumps, push ups, sprints out of the seat... just a lot of variation in general. Here, not so much, but the instructors are very nice and don't yell to motivate. Instead, they say things like, "if you are feeling tired or woosey, slow down, go at your own pace," whereas the other spin instructors say, "C'mon! Get up! I know you can do this! It's the final sprint! Give it all you got!" You get the drift.
So, all in all, I do like the Montrose studio, but I will have to pass on going there again. I am planning on checking out the South Pas location next. More to come... -

I love Pedal Spin! It's probably the best spin studio in LA.
Johnny Debut is the best instructor!! His rides are realistic, yet challenging. I really enjoy his music selection (mostly up-beat and current) and I love his encouragement throughout the entire ride.
"Why do we spin?!!"
"Because we love it!" -

Every year I go through a phase of making an effort to work out.
This year I decided to try spin @ Pedal Spin Studio because A) its super close to my house B) the first class is free.
I dragged my friend and we signed up for PedalParty with Lisa. Its basically a spin class in the dark with disco lights and club-like music. Our instructor played stuff from Black Eyed Peas, the Matrix soundtrack, and Jason Mraz. What variety!
The studio is clean, kind of small (long & narrow), has friendly staff, and offers clean towels for everyone.
The bikes are pretty simple with no digital functions (including the ability to tell you how many miles you pedaled). You also have to use a hand knob for resistance. The bike seats are super uncomfortable in my opinion which made spin class that much harder.
I would highly recommend this place especially since the staff seems to friendly and really knows what they are doing. Lisa can spin ridiculously fast. Almost like a hamster on a wheel! Jeaaaaa-lousss!
I'm afraid that the place is going to start getting REALLY crowded now since they recently offered a Groupon. Hopefully not!
Prices are kind of steep in my opinion...but like I mentioned, FIRST CLASS FREEEEEEE! -

I give Pedal Spin 5 stars all the way! I've been going there for about a year and I only have great things to say about them.
The studio is super clean, the teachers are energetic and the bikes are always well maintained. Each teacher is a bit different: different music, different vibe, diffferent workout so testing out what you like is a must. I have my favorites but overall, kudos to all of them!
Here is my motto:
When i'm feeling a little blue, stressed, or need to get a MAJOR sweat on, I head over to Pedal Spin because every workout makes EVERYTHING feel better. It's not just a great workout to burn calories and fat, but an amazing workout for your mind!
thanks again! Can't wait till South Pasadena opens! i live in S, Pasadena! -

Came here on Monday and had a great session with Rod Miller! Loved the music, the studio is very clean and the staff was very helpful! I bought 10 more sessions and can't wait to come back. Living in Echo Park does not deter me one bit, so worth the short drive! And your first class is free:)
-Update, Andy Kitchen and Orsi Crawford are awesome instructors as well!! Loving my workouts!!! -

I like Johnny's class on Tuesdays. Johnny is great, I wish he would create tapes so I could bike at home (if I had my own spin bike) listening to him pump me up. Is that strange? I just appreciate his enthusiasm and how much he gets into it.
I also appreciate Angela (Thursday night), although it's kind of an awkward time to work out, for some reason. Mellow-er but still sweaty and feels like you really did something afterwards.
I was encouraged to get into spinning after intro to spin with Ani, who really makes people feel comfortable. It's very different to come into spin, and she's great at the intro class.
Nicole (sunday's class) -- and Rod are also 2 trainer's that I enjoyed spinning with...
There are some I don't like..but I'd rather not soil this 4.5 star rating with my dislike for one or 2...I'd just say, try out more than one, and if a trainer leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth...a)don't go back to their class or b)maybe they had a bad day...i don't know..
go in, check in, pick up your towel, find a bike you're comfortable on...are you going to be in the front row...staring at yourself, do you care if someone is behind you possibly glancing at your ass once inawhile?? will you sit in the back row and possibly have to smell someones fart when they go up into 3, racing up a hill for a long 30 seconds? possibly.
It's a workout, so it smells a bit, especially in the later classes, but once the lights go down, the disco ball goes on, the music is pumping, and the fan is blowing around all the stinks and smells, it's pretty great to sweat it all out. I'm never hurting afterwards-just sweaty, and it's pretty easy on my joints, so far. If it wasn't for the cost, I'd go more. -

I couldn't be happier with Pedal Spin studio. I absolutely love working out there! Their instructors are always friendly with a ton of energy. The studio is clean and the bikes don't squeak!
They provide you with a fresh towel for each class, too.

This is only my second week here, but I've tried a good sampling of classes. It's amazing how a different instructor makes a class feel completely different. That said, I LOVE Lisa's class. She is definitely one of the tougher instructors, but she pushes you to go further than you think you could. Plus, I think she's one of the more personable ones. She knows everyone's names and encourages you throughout the class. And her music is so fun! We did climbs to "Gangsta's Paradise" and sprints to "Don't Stop Believing" today. Kind of amazing. Find what instructor works for you. Same general workout, but different styles.
I enjoy coming here here, but wish the rates weren't so steep. :/ -
Review from Chris M.
You have a new, happy regular. From the moment I walked into the door, I was greeted by name (even though I had never been in the studio before... but in all fairness, I was the only guy so maybe that had something to do with it haha). The instructor, Ani, was quick to get to know me and my personal story of why I was coming in. The beginning class was amazing and helpful in learning the bike and part of what to expect from the other classes. I don't even care that this was my first class, I can tell I am going to enjoy my future visits to this studio. I lucked out and got a deal on Google Deals for a cheap unlimited month pass, but without even asking, they comped my first ride! I figured I wouldn't be able to do that since I bought a deal, but everyone's first class is free. Uh, yes! Free is in my price range. Ani did a wonderful job of being able to remember what it is like to be new and engaged the whole class. I can't wait to slowly meet the other instructors and get a feel for what the other classes are like. Thank you for making my first time so wonderful! Can't wait to update my review in a month or so after I've made some rounds :)

Just got my butt kicked once again at Pedal Spin last night! I think it's about time that I write a review for them. The instructors here are top notch and the studio is clean and organized. They provide fresh towels and they also carry a good selection of refreshing drinks that will quench your thirst for those who need more than just water sometimes.
My favorite class here so far is the Pedal Precision class taught by Melissa. It is very technical and it truly makes you think about your body positioning the entire class. This class is useful for those of us who cycle a lot outside of spin class. Plus, Melissa's enthusiasm and constant correction is key in getting the most out of this class. The other class that I love is the Pedal Zen class where spinning meets yoga! Darby the instructor is a pro at both. The 45 minute spin portion is not as intense as the other full spin classes, but combined with another 45 minutes of yoga, you do feel energized as well as being lengthened and relaxed.
If you want to get an ass kickin' workout, go check out Pedal Spin. It's a real full body workout! -

I have been going to Pedal Spin in Montrose for about a year now, and my only regret is that I wish I could go more often. I have gone to Yas and other spin classes at the gym, and they didn't compare. Sure, the bikes aren't all high-tech-like, but I honestly believe that if you love spinning, less is more with the bikes and how you feel or sweat is a better indicator of whether you had a good work out. They are the "spinning" bikes, which I like a lot more than others I've tried in the past.
The customer service at pedal spin is AMAZING. Just call in, express a reasonable concern and it is fixed instantaneously (thanks Marguerite). I have never experienced an exercise studio that genuinely cares about customer service.
I love love love the spin/yoga combo on Fridays! Really helped with my physical and mental health, since I work a pretty stressful job. My hours are weird, but Darby always had a mat or a bike set up for me, which was really awesome.
Lastly, the instructors are knowledgeable, foster a non-pretentious atmosphere and completely welcoming. Nicole helped me pick out my shoes, and even put them together for me!
Thanks pedal spin! I wish I didn't work so much. -

**You!!! Yeah you!!! Get OFF your Bootay!! Your T.V. isn't going anywhere..DVR that show...and MOVE!!
TEN REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GET OFF YOUR A$$ AND HEAD TOWARDS PEDAL SPIN STUDIO:
1. First class is FREE...wait what....?? Read it again..FREE..let me spell that out for you...F-R-E-E.
2. Don't feel intimidated...everyone here is welcoming and helpful even the clients: If it's your first time, they'll take their time in explaining proper positions and they will adjust your bike for you.
3. BURN..BURN..BURN ~~ Some studies have mentioned that spinning can burn from 500 - +1000 calories in 50-60 minutes depending on your level of intensity..(that's a whole lotta calories in a short amount of time) check out this chart http://www.usatoday.co...
4. Strengthen your legs ~ Whatever you believe in...someone/thing gave you legs for a reason...Make use of them! Spin tones your glutes, quads and hamstrings, and calves. Improve your cardiovascular health and increase your lung capacity
5. I don't care what you've heard: Ladies ~ you can do this...GUYS ~ spinning is not gay...you know what is...being not brave enough to try it.
6. Spinning TARGETs your ABS TOO!! ~ When it comes to posture, core and technique...Spin instructor MELISSA G. will never give up on you; she'll get off her bike to correct your posture (it's for your own good ..trust me!) Several classes with her...and you'll notice a HUGE difference in posture. She definitely structures the class as a full body work out, encourages the use of stabilizer muscles which works out your abs, and enhances body alignment.
7. Time flies like WHOA! ~ Have you ever been discouraged with working out because 5 minutes felt like forever...? At pedal spin, each instructor has their own style of workout challenges which constantly changes accompanied with booty shakin music & party lights ~ oO its on like donkey kong!
8. SCHEDULE ~ Most studios have limited classes which doesn't work for someone who has a busy schedule..i.e. ME. Pedal spin studio has classes from 5:30 am on to 8:30 pm and weekends.
9. Super clean! Plus everyone is considerate about cleaning the bikes after each workout.
10. Specials that are affordable. Invest in your health, practice disease prevention early, health insurance is not cheap.
Hope to see you here someday! -

This place is AMAZING! I found my first reviews for the studio off yelp and took everyones word for it and tried it out. I am so happy I checked it out and came in because I have been going in for a month and it is great!
The staff is super friendly, it is always clean, and the music selection is always great! Plus, you cant complain spinning your heart out under the disco ball. I recommend this place to anyone that is not a big fan of the whole gym thing....you will get the workout of your life here without the typical gym scene. Classes are great to keep you motivated ! -

I went to my first class with this past Thursday at 6pm, and my mom joined. This was my first time stepping foot in a spin class - not only are we beginners, I'd go as far as calling us pre-beginners.
Lisa was subbing for whoever usually does that time slot - and I am so happy she was the first instructor I had!
When we got there we told her this was our first class and she was super accommodating. She adjusted the bikes for us, got us seat cushions, and even checked on us in the middle of the session. Oh did I mention the first session is free?!
Beyond that the people there were really nice, too. A few ladies approached us after to talk about when they first began, and give us some tips and encouragement. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be signing up.
In short: great place/atmosphere, Lisa is AMAZING, if you're considering spinning - give this place a try!
Bring lots of water (I needed two bottles), and if you don't have a cushy bum - consider getting a padded seat cover of your own. :) -

Pedal Spin Studio.... I've been a member almost a year now and it's time to write a review! Here's what you can expect when you come to Pedal.
First Timers, you can expect a warm welcome from the front desk! Next, you'll be shown to a bike and helped through the bike fitting process so that you will have a great ride. You will be happy with the bikes. They are new, state-of-the-art spin bikes. They are checked weekly.
The trainers are so consistent and familiar with their regular students that they don't even ask "who's new today?". They will spot you right off the bat and keep an eagle eye on you. Not in a bad way, but in a supportive, motivating way.
Overall appearance of the facility is fantastic! The bricks behind the bikes give a warm charm to the room, the free towels, the spotless restroom, the cool lights that come on when class starts, the industrial strength fan that blows just the right amount of breeze at the time you need it the most, along with excellent air conditioning.
After you've been to several classes, you'll notice that instructors are precisely on time. In the year I've been a member, I have never experienced a no-show or cancelled class.
What I like best about Pedal Spin are: the number of classes offered, number of instructors, quality of instructors and how each one has a totally different personality and along with that, different music, and finally, the sense of camaraderie.
I look forward to coming to class each and every time and leave feeling better than I did when I arrived. Pedal Spin is a privately owned facility - result - the owners take their clients seriously.
Not convinced? Yes you are! Come to Pedal Spin Studio. You won't be disappointed. -

Further testament that a good instructor can make all the difference!
I am happy to report I had a fabulous experience at the Monday evening class (taught by out very own Tatertots Rock X - aka Melissa G.)
Melissa's enthusiasm and energy kept the class going throughout this very demanding workout. When she had suggestions, she made them - and that was that. I didn't feel like I was being reprimanded as I had by another instructor.
Melissa explained that her Monday night class is different than the typical spin class. She emphasizes utilization of your core through proper posture; It seems exaggerated at first, but you quickly realize it's whipping your butt into shape and muscles that have been stagnant (especially those in the back) are being activated and engaged.
It's a tough class - but it feels so good to work your body for 50-60 mins after a day of sitting in a cubicle. Get off your tush and give it a try!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Finally a workout that I enjoy and can stick with. The instructors are welcoming and understanding of all different skill levels. They encourage you to push yourself but won't yell at you if you can't keep up. Every instructor has a different style and music choice, just take differnt classes and find which one fits you best.
One tip: If its your first time spinning be sure to take the Intro to Spin class on Saturday first. Its a bit slower paced and you won't feel completely lost the next time you take a full class. -

It never fails, I always get a great work out here! The studio is clean and has a great vibe to it with the low lighting and good music - helps make the hour pass by! Classes are intimate so you never get lost in a sea of machines.
All the instructors are super nice and encouraging without being mean. My favorite class is Tamar's Tuesday night class because she plays great music, has a good upbeat attitude and still gets you to work your butt off! She really plays to each persons individual skill level so that everyone gets a great work out.
I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking for a challenging but fun workout! -

I found this studio on a YELP special offers email. $25 for 5 classes! Heck yes. I went with my mom and was soooooo pleased with the studio. Not only was the staff kind and welcoming, but the decor of the studio is awesome.
It has a disco dance studio kind of vibe and it is conveniently located right in the heart of Montrose. What started as a great bargain, turned out to be a terrific experience. Plus the wonderful receptionist learned our names immediately and greeted us the second time we came in by name.
My mother had never gone to a spin class before and the instructor checked her bike, made sure she was comfortable and ran through all the basics before the class started.
Great care, attention to detail and every instructor we have had has been phenomenal! GO GET YOUR ASS KICKED... this place rocks! -

I've been a user of Yelp for years, but never felt the need to contribute. Until now....
This place is fantastic. I started working out a few months ago and tried a spin class at another location. The place was nice enough, but the instructor didn't do it for me. After two months I tried giving it another shot, but turned to Pedal Spin due to their fabulous Yelp reviews... Everyone was 100% correct in their assessment of this place. The owner responded immediately to my request for information and got me set up with my first class. I was lucky enough to pick Danielle (thanks to her bio indicating a love for indie music) for my first session. She met with me before class, got me set up on the bike, and (knowing that I'd only done this once before), worked with me individually during the class to correct my posture. If you are new to spinning I highly recommend taking one of her classes.
I've only seen one other instructor there - Rubi - who is energetic and does very high intensity workouts with lots of sprinting and jumping. Her classes consistently work me to a pulp, but in a good way. I think she's great if you have a been spinning for awhile, but I wouldn't suggest her for a newbie.
Other perks - The first class is free, and you get a 10% discount if you book a group of sessions after your first class. These prepaid sessions don't expire, as they do at other locations, which was a huge plus for me. The classes themselves never seem completely full, but there are always enough people to keep the energy up.
Finally - the location is great. Parking is easy. The building itself has only spinning equipment and is clean and well-maintained (even the bathroom is kind of cute!) The owner seems to be there all the time and is always pleasant and energetic, as are your fellow spinners. Oh - and they give you towels and sell water at a pretty cheap price - great if you come straight from work as I do.
Finally, they have classes later in the eveinings for those that don't escape work before 7, as well as weekend morning and afternoon classes.
So PLEASE - go here. NOW! I never thought I'd look forward to exercising, but spinning at Pedal Spin changed my mind completely. Thanks guys! -

I give Johnny Debut and Pedal Spin 5 bright stars!! He is the BEST instructor and I absolutely LOVE his class. It is so much more than an amazing workout. He works your mind, body and soul and takes you on a spiritual journey with each class. The staff is super friendly, the studio is well kept and clean and the classes always start on time. I look forward to going every week and feel revived after every class. I drive from West Hollywood because it is absolutely worth it!! I highly recommend Pedal Spin and Johnny.

I began to spin about a month ago and it has completely changed my life! I absolutely love Pedal Spin and the staff is amazing. Johnny Debut hands down most inspiring and motivating instructor. His Johnny G style keeps you going even when you feel like you have no energy left. The special package combos are the best way to take advantage of their deals. I'm looking forward to the grand opening of their new locations. I highly recommend everyone try Pedal Spin once!

I wasn't sure if i would like the whole "spin" thing, but I'm sure glad i gave it a shot! I love spinning now! The place is simple, the staff is friendly, and it's clean. They provide towels for you and also sell water in case you forget yours.

This was my first time going to a spin studio. First of all you should be in very good shape as far as the strength of your quads, knees and calves or this won't be a good class for you. I took the Saturday 9:30 a.m. class with Cindy, who is a great instructor. She showed me how to adjust the bike and was very nice. I usually take step or aerobics classes every day of the week and the spinning class was a lot more difficult. You constantly crank up the tension so it is like you are going uphill along with standing out of the saddle quite a bit. They provide towels which is very nice and they sell beverages if you forget your water. I would highly recommend it if you want to sweat your butt off.

So amazing! I try to run or hike everyday and this was such a great way to mix up my workout! I have never sweat like I did during 2-hours of spin and it was great fun, like a workout in a nightclub (without cheesy pickup lines!) Eric is an inspiring and fun instructor, and staff is super helpful and nice! Give it a try, you'll love it!

Review from Ana M.
La Canada Flintridge, CA
Wow this place is awesome! If you want a motivating exercise class that will make you sweat bullets, try this place! I despise the gym, period. But this is totally different from a gym. First, it's 99% spinning. I think there's one class that is yoga, and another class that is part spinning part toning. Rather than write an essay, I'll try to break it down for you.
-Background info: I gained 7 lbs after I moved home from college (!!!) I do long distance running (not 24 miles but more like 7-13 mi range), and hit a plateau. I needed to try something else nearby and like I said, I hate the gym. I needed MOTIVATION. I have a very busy, varying work schedule. Pedal spin studio has a lot of class times to choose from, it is a motivating class environment, and makes you work. Did I lose weight? yup! 2 lbs, not a lot, BUT I have more muscle tone and have slimmed down slightly (good thing).
-Instructors: All the instructors I have tried are motivating, non-judgmental, helpful, and on the whole friendly. If you're new to the studio I suggest trying each teacher out to see which teaching style fits your needs best. Some teachers tend to have "harder" workouts than others, but it's really left to how hard you push yourself. I haven't had any issues with the instructors, they're all great!
-Class schedule: they have 530 am classes for early birds who want to work out before work! yesssss this is fantastic, much appreciated. They also have after work classes, 445 pm/6 pm/715 pm/8 pm ish class times. They don't really have classes in the middle of the day on weekdays, not sure why. Maybe all the teachers have other day jobs? You sign up online or else just show up and hope you get a bike if the class is not too full. If you didn't sign up and the class is full, you won't get a bike
-Atmosphere: Usually it's pretty dark in there, they have black lights, disco balls, and these rotating colorful light things. The music choice varies a lot. I think the playlists are left to the discretion of the teacher. So if the teacher feels like 80s, it's going to be 80s for the majority of the night. But that doesn't mean the next time you have that class it will be 80s music. It's sort of hit or miss. Music is loud in general. This is a good thing! The last thing you want is to lose your tempo because your neighbor is distracting you by breathing in your ear.
-Cleanliness: very clean. But dude seriously, if you go there clean your bike after you've used it. I cringe at the thought of using a bike that has not been properly cleaned and is potentially covered in sweat. I would suggest cleaning your bike BEFORE you use it as well. But I'm a clean freak so ....yea.
-Complaints: the only complaints I have are:
1--ventilation--when it gets really hot in the larger classes, especially if you're sitting further from the door. They need fans or something to keep the air circulating.
2--online it says if you sign up for a class and cancel last minute or don't show up, you get charged a fee. This has not been put into action yet but if it is, I'm screwed. I'm on call sometimes at work and can't have a set schedule. So I'd end up not signing up for classes and winging it. This means, if the class is full, I run the risk of not getting a spot :( So if you're in the same boat as me in terms of work schedule, just hope and pray this rule is not confirmed as an official rule.
So that kinda was an essay...sorry guys! Hope this helps. This is a great place to work out, I highly recommend it. -

This is an outstanding spin studio. The staff are so friendly, and the instructors are patient, helpful and really encouraging. What is there to lose?

I love this studio! The instructors are awesome and there's such variety. You can easily find a few instructors that you vibe with and become a follower. The mood lighting is great for getting you motivated and the pricing can't be beat.
I personally really enjoy Tamar, Lisa and Danielle. Darby's yoga class is nice way to balance out the effects of spinning too. And if you are into super intense fitness Melissa and Lacey's classes are great.
Regardless of who you take, it's a great workout and great people. -

Finally spinning in Montrose! Before you'd have to drive to Pasadena to get this great of a spin and now it's right up town! (I remember when this spot used to be my Mom's hair salon...like 15 years ago - no joke!) Cindy's enthusiasm to spin is contagious, gotta to meet her!

This place is awesome. I love how the instructors push us and encourge us at the same time. I've never been a very athletic person, and gyms are intimidating to me. But I feel right at home here.

Great lighting and sound system. I like that they provide towels for clients. This was my first experience in a spin class and I thought it was terrific!!

So Pedal Spin Studio has a gorgeous atmosphere!! Great lighting!! The instructors are fantastic. The prices are reasonable and its great when a business is not all about the dollars and cents but also contributes to the community through local charities, etc.
BUT...
The best thing about Pedal Spin Studio is the work out. In just 2 weeks I have seen an amazzing difference in my figure and just want to thank Pedal Spin studio for whittling my middle and I am sure by the time bikini season rolls around I will be in fab shape!!!
You guys are fantastic!!! Keep up the good work!!
