It's been months since my last visit to Pearl Harbour but my tattoo is finally done and I love it! As a recap, I contacted the shop for a cover up consultation and was squeezed into an Aug slot before my tattoo artist India left for various conventions. A week before my apointment, India fractured her hand (sucks!) and my appaointment had to be moved after October. Since school would be in session my only coordinatng day turned out to be in December... I was pretty bumed out but at the same time I had more time to save up.

The big day arrives and India is once again nice and cheery, making it easier to deal with the horrific pain to come. Ask anyone and they will agree that foot tattoos are generally brutal and since this was a cover up I knew staying still was going to be important. My hour long session was pretty painful but in the end super worth it.

You can't see my old tattoo and India's design was incredible. I can't wait until my next ink adventure... and when that time comes India will be my guide :-)

I am not really the type to frequent tattoo parlours. I also do not have any tattoos. I am a designer - which I believe makes you go one of two ways. You Love ink and want to cover yourself in it, OR you realize that you hate your logo every time you redesign it and can therefore not commit to anything permanent.

Being of the un-tattooed camp, I can still say this place is as good as it gets. First off, the space is gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated. They have carried the eclectic punch tin look and reclaimed details throughout.  (From Blog To ... including the installation of shelving salvaged from the old Rotman's hat shop on Spadina, as well as century-old general store cabinetry and tin ceilings, the shop is a beautiful testament to the past.)

Secondly, the staff is friendly, approachable and unpretentious.

Thirdly, My SO does not share my tattoo sensibility and has several large pieces. The only person he goes to, and has ever gone to is co-owner  Daniel Innes. His work is beautiful. My SO has chosen black & grey, Japanese style work and the detail is phenomenal. There is so much care, it is obvious. Daniel's talent is remarkable.

Lastly, There is none of the "choose your tattoo from this wall of pre-drawn tatts everyone else chooses from" - these people are artists, and have drawn all of the choices around the shop that you can use for inspiration.

Really, this shop is about craftsmanship, detail and professionalism. After seing my SO get his ink done by Daniel, i could not imagine going anywhere else. Especially with something permanent, go to the best.

    Highly Recommended.

Toronto has quite a few nice shops, and no shortage of amazing artists. Pearl Harbour puts some of the best artists around in what is arguably the nicest shop I've ever walked into. Formerly a women's clothing store, the guys renovated the entire space--ceiling included-- and took care to make you want to spend long stretches of time on there. Definitely successful on that end.

The artists on-hand are what truly make the place. Daniel Innes and Bill Baker(the former having once apprenticed under the latter) are trusted names in tattooing, along with Glennie, who I'm not terribly familiar with, though the work I've seen her do is stunning. The three handle a variety of styles, and while there is (quality) flash on the wall,  you'd be doing yourself a disservice not aiming to get something personalized.

If you are up in the air about where to get tattooed, and by whom, look at it this way:  these guys designed and built the shop with minimal help. Bill baker's reputation alone within the industry is telling of why this is the shop you should be at. Don't be put off by the potential for a lengthy wait to get an appointment. Look at it as though you're making reservations at a very high-quality restaurant. You might have to wait to get in, but you're getting the very best with your money, and are likely to only be disappointed if your idea of a tattoo shop is Miami Ink.

This very new addition to Kensington brings a brilliant new face to both the market & tattooing in Toronto. After being tattooed for 20 yrs throughout Canada, I was drawn here by the truly amazing Bill Baker, who is a true Canadian legend in tattooing. I was suprisingly  impressed by the overall professionalism and relaxed air.....not all the attitude of so many tattoo shops. The consideration, professionalism, and attention to detail will definitely set a new standard for Toronto's tattoo shops.

If you want a tattoo to enjoy for life, with an emphasis on fine line & astounding detail.....look no further!!!!!!

This is a truly beautiful shop, full of professionalism, and creating truly remarkable work.....this is the tattoo shop all in Toronto will aspire to !!!

I haven't yet received a tattoo here. But I did recently stop by to purchase a gift certificate for a friend. The place is clean and neat. The staff were friendly during my transaction. The only downside for me is that gift certificates can only be purchased in denominations of $100. My fav tattoo artist recently moved here so I know eventually I'll go back for a tattoo service.
