WHISTER MUST-DO!
This is the number one attraction in Whistler. Whether you ski/snowboard or not, everyone has to have the chance to see the mountains from up high.
The Peak 2 Peak provides a view is like no other.
I have seen and heard people complain about the price. Do you realize where you are? Whistler is not cheap, but I feel I got my money's worth (on sightseeing lift ticket).
The pricing for the Sightseeing - Peak 2 Peak Alpine Experience ranges from approximately $20 for children, to $50 for adults.
From the website:
"The record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is an engineering marvel that links Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains together at their peaks. Boasting the longest unsupported lift span in the world (3.024 kilometres or 1.88 miles), it is also the highest lift of its kind with an elevation of 435 metres/1,427 feet.
For access to 3,307 hectares (8,171 acres) of skiing and riding terrain, check out the Whistler Blackcomb trail map and begin planning your route. Foot passengers may also board the gondola to gain an entirely new perspective on sightseeing from 6,000 feet. Wait a few extra minutes for one of the silver, glass-bottomed cabins and really blow your mind."
I was lucky and went on a beautiful, clear & sunny day. I was awestruck with the beauty of the scenery. I could have taken photos all day. Make sure to bring a camera and enjoy the sites. Marvel while you travel on the Peak 2 Peak gondola and at the top of each mountain as well!
Be prepared to hike and spend the entire afternoon on the peaks. Don't fret, you can grab a bite to eat and beers at the top!
Budget atleast an hour and a half for the scenic tour. It takes approximately 30 minutes to go up to the Peak 2 Peak, from the base of either mountain. You will walk a short distance, and it takes another 15 minutes to cross from one Mountain to the other. The gondola can fit about 20 people.
Stop in the PEAK 2 PEAK complex for a drink, and soak up the glorious view and mountain air. It takes another 15 minutes for the return trip on the gondola, and another 30 minutes down to the base of the mountain.
The ride over to the other mountain was surprisingly very smooth and magnificently high. I am not a fan of heights that I am not diving off of, so it was definitely scary, but the views and experience are more than worth it.
The glass bottom gondola is definitely cool. Don't be fooled, the regular gondola is still trippy ride.
You have to ride the Peak to Peak, even if you are not a winter enthusiast or mountain biker. Just do it!
This is an unparalleled experience. Don't miss it. I cannot recommend enough the Peak to Peak ride if you are in Whistler. -

BLARRRRGH!!! I got light headed just looking at the thing....
Seriously this is the Granddaddy of gondola rides, but worth the trip! We went during the Summer and there was an amazing view of the valley below along with a few birds flying by your gondola, that was a weird sight.
If you are adventurous, about every 15 minutes a "bottomless" gondola comes by, there is a special wait line for that ride, the wife and kiddos road that, I opted for the "normal" version.
It almost felt as if we were flying.... -

This is an engineering masterpiece.
I have been coming to Whistler every since I was a little girl. Every day the biggest dilemma you faced in the morning getting ready was...which mountain are we going to ski? Because it took to long to get to upload/download to ski both mountains in a day. Now, you no longer have that dilemma.
Now I am not afraid of heights, but on this thing I was literally a little afraid. I have yet to ride a plexi glass bottom one though.
For the first time in like the 15 years I have been skiing this mountain, I skied both mountains in one day thanks to P2P. -

We purchased a lift pass with BBQ buffet on top for around $60 CAD. Kids under 6 were free for the ride as well as the food. While the ride to the top and the Peak 2 Peak Gondola was an amazing experience with spectacular views, the food was not so great.
I thought our kids might freak out about the ride, but it was really smooth and quiet, and not scary unless you are on the side looking down the mountain. There was a bit of glacier snow on top, and the kids thought it was awesome to have a mini snowball fight in the middle of summer. The sky was crystal clear, and warm so that only a light sweater or jacket was needed during the evening. The ride down the Whistler side was enclosed, so it wasn't too chilly.
The BBQ food was less than average cafeteria food. Dry, tasteless, and overcooked. Drinks were hidden behind a wall to the side. It was served buffet style and seating was in long cafeteria style benches. I guess it was a decent deal since the kids were free and we enjoyed the rides the most. -

When it comes to gondola's. This is the Mac Daddy of them all! I hate heights and yet I still found myself riding from Whistler to Blackcomb and back. Eyes closed all the way. How could I tell it was a great ride?
Close your eyes and let it just happen.

Cool View, smooth ride, and some great hiking on both sides. Overall enjoyed the whole thing. Do it again - maybe depends what is planned for the top.

Freshly opened on Dec 12, 2008, the P2P gondola spanning between Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler mountain and Rendezvous on Blackcomb is a modern engineering marvel. When it was built, it broke three world records for the longest continuous lift system, the highest vertical drop for such a system, and having the largest unsupported span. When you read that, it might sound scary, but on the contrary, it is absolutely breathtaking.
The 11 minute ride is stable and quite the testament to Swiss precision and design. Our hero was amazed by the view and how quickly it took him between the dual mountains. This gondola is definitely a great addition to Whistler Blackcomb that sets it apart from all other North American ski resorts.
PROS:
- Scenic ride.
- Convenient link between the dual mountains.
- Two out of the 28 gondolas are glass bottomed, allowing riders to look beneath their feet at the incredible 1,427 ft drop down to Fitzsimmon's creek at the tallest point.
CONS:
- It's an extra $7 for the P2P lift privileges on top of existing lift tickets (but well worth the ride).
- Construction of the ride left a thin treeless "scar" between the two mountains where they had to cut down a path beneath the lift system. -

Simply put, it's beautiful. The ride on the gondola, and even going up the first gondola to get to the peak 2 peak gondola station, offer incredible views. It feels safe, secure and it's comfortable. For what it is, I would give it 5 stars.
But, it's a lot of money. Don't get me wrong, it's worth the money (you expect things to be expensive when you're at any world renowned place), but it's still a lot. The same way I truly believe that a luxury car is worth a $100k but it's still a lot of money. Also, I wish, at each peak, they had some more options for dining and simply enjoying the views for those only sight-seeing.
When I went, it was muggy and cloudy at the village and I was skeptical, but we ended up going above the clouds and it was simply amazing! I'd still recommend it to anyone. -

Beware: this is an overpriced attraction at Whistler-Blackcomb. If you come in the summer and only want to ride the Whistler Gondola up to the Roundhouse Lodge, you're out of luck and you will be forced to pay for the Peak 2 Peak as well. They no longer sell tickets based on what you want to ride, and instead have a one-ticket-for-everything system now. It cost us $88 for two tickets, which is an obvious attempt to suck as much money out of the non-skiing summer tourists as possible.
Even though the Whistler Gondola is open until 8:00 on weekends, the Peak 2 Peak closes at the ridiculously early hour of 5:00, so if you come late in the day or are doing some hiking on the mountain, you'll need to plan accordingly. -

Pricey but worth while - this ride was a highlight of my trip to whistler.
11 minutes across - 80m higher than the CN tower at it's highest point - this ride was something to experience.
More than that - it's better than taking the gondola ride down, then coming up the other mountain. -

Fun ride across the peaks. We wanted to hike the musical bumps last July (around the 11th) but apparently we were still to early in the season?! 12 feet of snow still on the trail and we didn't have any snowboarding gear so we just rode the lifts and the gondola all day. The glass bottom gondola, in my opinion, is a little over rated. It's a small area of glass in the middle of the pod. Obviously for safety reason it can't be made larger, but it was a little underwhelming to me.

I got the summer deal which was $40 for a 2 day pass. I felt it was well worth the price. The peak express lift was open so that was pretty amazing, I went all the way to the peak of Whistler. The views are breathtaking. If you haven't done this, I suggest you do it at least one time in your life. There are hikes you can do while you're up in the mountains.
No need to wait for the glass bottom gondola, it's not a big deal. -
Review from Kathy C.
We had a wonderful time going up the Whistler mountain, took the peak express lift, did a little hike/walk, ride the peak to peak gondola and then came down the Blackcomb mountain. It was money well spent for the package price in my opinion. The view was breathtaking and we snapped so many pictures.
Warning though, the walk to ride the peak express lift was longer and steeper than it seemed. Though the reward is to see the famous Inukshuk with beautiful snowcapped mountains (even during summer time) as back drop for some amazing photo opportunities. -

This was a pretty awesome ride. You get a scenic view of the mountain covered snow, trees, and just everything beautiful. The ride was really smooth but if you're afraid of heights then you're out of luck. I waited for the glass bottom gondola which took freaking forever. Was the glass bottom worth the wait, no, but must you experience it at least once, yes. This is the best thing when you're tired of boarding/sking and you just want to rest and enjoy the view.

Our party didnt wait for the glass bottom gondola but still enjoyed the peak to peak gondola! The gondola was spacious, clean, secure- even if you are afraid of heights you can still relax and enjoy the fabulous view between Whistler and Blackcomb. It's worth the price! Although personally I enjoyed the view at the top of Whistler's mountain peak more- so if you're tight on budget pick Whistler only.

You scare the crap out of me. Yet, I cannot look away from your glass floor so... I guess I like having the crap scared out of me. Thanks for that.
