Kinnnnd of a long wait, service was slow and awkward, my food was lukewarm and mediocre.
Why am I still a fan? Because I didn't have a breakfast dish (I had the veggie burger) I don't feel like it's fair to base this review on my experience of the food. All in all, this place is cute, pretty durrrn cheap and the mimosas are BOMB! Fresh squeezed oj + lots of champs... I was a happy camper! -

Paul's Omelettery is a cute little restaurant in the Fairview Slopes Area. I wanted to try this place for ages, but every time my fiance and I walked by on a Sunday morning there would be a line out the door. Thankfully, there was no line on Easter Monday, so I was finally able to try it out!
I went with my fiance and his parents, and we were seated promptly. I really like the feel of the restaurant. It feels like you're eating breakfast in someone's home. The restaurant is also very clean.
Due to the name, I had to try an omelette. I ordered the Spanish Omelette, which was made with 3 free range eggs and had mushrooms, tomato, onions, red peppers, salsa, cheddar, edam, and cream cheese. I was unsure when I originally ordered, because I thought it would be way too cheesy. Thankfully, I was wrong. It wasn't the best omelette I've ever had, but it was definitely well cooked. I think it would have benefited from a bit more seasoning and some extra salsa. The omelette also came with two pieces of toast and an absolutely delicious raspberry jam. I wonder if you can buy a jar of it, because it was wonderful.
Overall, this is a very cute restaurant, and I'll probably come back to try either their breakfast quesadilla or cinnamon french toast. I recommend going here, but I'm not sure if I'd wait in line over 30 minutes. -

I generally don't like eggs. Unless they're fried or steamed chinese style. But damn. Best omlet I've ever had.
We came here, looking for an interesting place for a light meal. We were treated to a clean and cosy establishment, full of happy noshing customers. We had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a table. But once seated, we were promptly greeted.
Drinks:
Fresh lemonade and mimosas. Lovely and most importantly, fresh! They didn't skimp on the champagne, either :D
Food:
I couldn't choose, so to be fair, I ordered a custom omlet. Turkey sausage, avocado and mushrooms. It arrived, expertly folded, oozing with cheese. avocado chunks were huge and ripe and I was pleased. The egg was light, almost crepe-like in texture. Absolutely awesome. Portion was perfect, with a bit of brown toast on the side. Great for a light meal.
Even though it was very busy, our server was friendly and fast! Awesome place, for an affordable, fresh meal! -

Awesome breakfast for under $10. I get the Dan cakes but with French toast instead, & real maple syrup, or their Eggs Benny with their homemade cheese sauce, way better than hollandaise, or the Denver omelette with cream cheese, all are great!

Well. Sorry to say Paul's has gone down in ratings. Last time I ate here I loved it, great food, atmosphere & service. This time not so much. Food was bland,service abysmal & atmosphere cranky. Cute place but alas, no longer one of my favs.

I had high hopes for this place....
Came for lunch with a girlfriend, on a Monday afternoon, not too busy.
Decor was nice, clean. Price was average brunch/lunch place.
I had the original Benny small (half size) which I thought for the price was really small. It was pretty tasty, nothing too special. The reason why I can't give this place more stars is the service. Our server was borderline rude. I don't like to complain because I was a server for 12 years, so I understand if you're busy but it wasn't! I don't want to get into too much detail of the BAD service. I do want to give this place another chance maybe we just had a bad server. Overall, it was OK. -

I really want to give this place four stars but I can't.
The service we had was soso at this place. The coffee was decent but not as amazing as I've had at other places around Vancouver.
My husband's omlette was tasty and hot and was great.
Unfortunately my omlette was cold and the home fries were cold which was disappointing. -

I've been here a couple times with my dad. I find it a bit too crowded for my liking. I know it's a good sign that it's busy, but it doesn't seem worth it for the food. Although their food is tasty, it isn't extraordinary. Nothing really stands out or makes me crave a particular item. One perk is that they make their own preserves, and they have good ingredients. Often, I only come here because Salade de Fruits is closed or too busy.

We had brunch here, and it ws fantastic. The omelettes are creative and flavorful with ingredients like chorizo or cream cheese. The service is very nice. The prices are very reasonable fir Vancouver.

I wanted to go somewhere different for breakfast. I searched on Yelp and chose to check out Paul's, and practically decided what I wanted after reading some quick tips. I got the BF to taxi my sorry ass over there and wait in the line with me. I was lucky he was so patient, as it seemed like the wait was going to be forever, but we got seated in a decent amount of time.
I think our waitress had ESP, everytime we even had a thought in our head of "oh I should order now", or "oh I need a refill" she would miraculously appear and be ready for us. She was a freakin magician! I had the veggie omelet, which was really good, you could tell the veggies were super fresh, with a side of the potatoes (which were so-so but when you add the cheese sauce they become good, and when you add the Frank's red hot sauce they become amazing.) I did think it was weird that you had to order the hash seperate, it's the first time I have ever seen anything like that before. But the omelet did come with a side of toast, so I guess that substitutes for it, since most places just give you the taters.
The BF had the Lumberjack breakfast... everytime I say that I feel like I have to say in a deep voice cuz it sounds like such a manly feast. It sounds as big as it is, you get a cheese omelet, hash, pancakes, a fruit cup and some meat product, which we subbed for toast. Obviously he didn't finish it.
I would come back to Paul's for sure, as long as I wouldn't have to wait too long, I am a bit of a grump when it comes to waiting, especially when I am hungover, which 99.9% of the time I am on the weekend. My only other suggestion, would be to get some ventilation in there, I know I am cold pretty much every waking minute of my life, but it sure was cookin' in there on Sunday morning!Listed in: Best of the best

Do not go here if you are hungry!
When we arrived, 10am on a Sunday morning, no one was around to greet us. Luckily, as this was my second time, I knew to sign myself into the book. There were 7 tables ahead of us, and there were 3 open tables in the restaurant, so I thought maybe a half hour wait, but with so few staff, the turn around is so slow. It took an hour before we were seated.
We had had an hour waiting to peruse the menu, so we were ready to order when we sat down. We didn't get the opportunity to order for at least 10 minutes, and our food, essentially eggs and potatoes, took another 25 minutes to come!
I had a large eggs benedict, which had two of the smallest eggs I've ever seen, covered in a bland cheese sauce on a cold english muffin. I rarely dislike breakfast food, but this was extremely disappointing after such a long wait.
My girlfriend had an omelette, which was also small and disappointing.
I actually went home and made breakfast right after we left.
This was our second time coming, because of the good reviews. It is a cozy space, and could be great. We assumed the poor food and service the first time was just a bad day, but this was definitely my last visit. -

This place is a solid 3.5 stars. We had omelettes, one was the meat lover and the second was a cheese, mushroom, avocado, and oktoberfest sausage. Both were tasty, but no one ingredient really stood out. The toast were generously sized and well buttered. Your given just enough jam to slather on each piece of toast.
The coffee is pretty good, nothing too exciting, but at least its not bad. The place is really busy and you might have to wait for up to 45 minutes. I guess breakfast is kind of a scarce thing here in Vancouver, but if your looking for an excellent breakfast I would head over to the twisted fork or medina cafe. -

So whenever I return to Vancouver...this is my first stop. It's always packed and that's a HUGE sign that it's a great place. We were sat at a window seat. The place is quaint and homely. I always order the Denver omelette...I know..."a Denver omelette in Canada" you ask yourself......I love this omelette considering I have tried every one of them on the menu.It's always made the way I ordered it and I always get a side of bacon. It comes with potatoes and toast. On the table, they have a small jar of house made raspberry preserves. Im in LOVE with this spread. I could put it on anything.
The service is impeccable...I really appreciate the coffee guy that never lets your coffee level go below half a cup. I have found that this is definitely my favorite breakfast place in Vancouver..... -

After having worked close to this restaurant for 3 years, I finally decided to stop by for a bite... and I'm so glad I did!
I went during the week, so there was no line up to be seen, but keep in mind that on the weekends, this place is packed!
My divine brunch consisted of a mimosa (or 2 ;), the BlackStone Eggs Benny, and Cinnamon French Toast (to share).
Mimosa = Mmmmm!
The Eggs Benny was fantastic. The sauce itself wasn't too heavy (as they usually tend to be) but still had a rich and creamy taste and texture. It even had a hint of citrus. Yummy!
Cinnamon French Toast was crispy & soft in all the right places. Served nice and warm, perfect for melting that butter or whipped cream.
Service can be a bit slow, but is still very friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
Go. Go now! -

I like it. I really do.
This is one of the few breakfast/brunch places in Granville and it's delicious. There are many selections to choose from and plenty of coffee to be served. Yes, seriously, the first thing our waitress asked us is if we wanted coffee. My cup was constantly filled with coffee throughout our time there. Nice service!
My wife ordered the Mini Beni with Mushroom and Spinach and she couldn't stop raving about it. Apparently it was really really delicious. I ordered the Farmer's Hash Special. It didn't quite turn out the way I imagined, but after a few bites, it was better than I expected. I was quite pleased with my overall experienced at this cozy little joint. I would definitely come back here again if I was in the neighborhood. Did I say our waitress was really pushy with filling my cup with more coffee. One of the best omelets i've had!. and believe me!, i used to make them for a living!!
I used to go here every Saturday morning at opening time before the huge rush. I must have ordered almost everything on Mr Pauls menu! all fresh tasting and freakin deliciously satisfying! What really topped it off was his chunky hot sauce he had on the side, it even looked homemade. oh man once i put it on my omelet, my flavor meter went into overdrive!! So good!!
In this quirky society today, you either like eggs or you don't.. whether if its fried, scrambled, sunny, poached, basted, or blanketed with your favorite toppings, no matter what they are here to stay!! So my suggestion is, give eggs a chance! especially Paul's eggs! common.... don't be a bitch! ;) -

This place is worth queueing for, which is lucky because there is almost always a line on weekend mornings. Love the atmosphere especially if you're lucky enough to get a sunny window seat. The 1306 mushroom omellette is to die for and even converted me, a non omellette lover. Service is always friendly without being too saccharin.
Definitely recommend. -

BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN.
I used to think it was Sophie's Cafe on 4th (and no disrespect to Sophie's I still love it there) but this place has it beat. They have the best corn beef hash which i always request a 3rd egg on, the Zimmer is delicious and what I most regularly get. Also, i love that you can just get One eggs benedict instead of the normal 2 egg since sometimes it's too much food.
The service is always super friendly and makes you feel welcome.
If you like breakfast (it's my favorite meal) you will love this place. -

Went for lunch with my friend the other day, half of Fairview was cut in half due to some BC Hydro construction, so our options were a bit more limited than usual. My friend suggested Paul's..I'd never heard of it, but love trying new recommendations, so we gave it a go. Turns out it's within walking distance of my work!
Anyways this place is really great, the ambience is nice (unique decor, which i like), and it seems very popular. I imagine it's really quite busy on Saturday or Sunday morning for breakfast (it was busy on Friday for lunch!).
My friend visits here a lot and he recommended the hash, which is basically a bunch of breakfast food all mixed up on your dish, it sounded delicious, so i went for it. I wasn't disappointed. The poached eggs, were poached just perfectly and the portion size was perfect (lots of breakfast places have portions that are too big, which i like at the time, but regret later).
The prices seemed reasonable, about average I would say for the neighbourhood. My hash cost $9.50.
They have non-breakfast stuff as well (burgers, sandwiches). Maybe I will try that next time because I'm definitely going back to Paul's soon since it's in the neighbourhood. -

Just a nice weekday brunch place.
We wanted something light.
I had the 1/2 eggs benny. Was good, but the cheese sauce was a bit like the kind you see poured on nachos at the movies; the kind you vow never to order again after trying them once. Still, extremely reasonably priced. Potatoes were cold, and I would have preferred hashbrowns, as most people would, methinks.
Omelettes looked better; but I just didn't want a hefty breakie. This is probably the thing to order at a self-professed, made-up "omelettery." lol.
Fruit bowl had too much melon. Come on, even during our glorious, short-lived summer we found that a bit weak in addition to the hefty price.
Coffee was surprisingly above average.
Overall, not bad when you are walking around the hood and you are over barney's, especially on a Monday when many places are closed. Service was great, restaurant was quiet and clean on an early morning, so no line-ups there. -

Great place for breakfast! Me and my girlfriend wanted a nice hearty breakfast and got it in spades! Home made hot sauce was a bit too spicy for me but the tabasco sauce was great! I love going to places and wanting several things on the menu!
I ordered the omlette with brie, tomatoe, and bacon and my girlfriend ordered the basic eggs benny. Both were very good and hit the spot perfectly! Refillable coffee (which oddly enough was a bonus for us) was pretty good considering the reasonable price!
Recommended for breakfast and will definetely go back and try more of thier menu! -

i guess i'm the only person in Vancouver that doesn't like this place.
I've been there 3 times now, so this is not a knee jerk reaction. But, after the 3rd time i am now convinced that even a monkey could open a Breakfast place in Vancouver and people would line up for it.
what is the appeal?
first time i was there was ok. had the omelette, this place makes a fantastic omelette, they really do. But, after paying extra for each ingredient and then extra for a side of potatoes, and then the portions end up being very small....it's disappointing.
2nd time i had the 'hungry man or lumberjack, or whatever the 'big' breakfast is. this was the worst breakfast i've ever paid for. unreal, dry everything, not hot....just terrible. how do you mess up Bacon...
and then the 3rd time was recently, i wisely avoided the 'big' breakfast and had the omelette and potatoes again. Everyone i was with left hungry....cardinal rule of breakfast places should be to at least load people up on potatoes. they are cheap ...not here though...nope.
and the decor reminds me of a cross between a cruise ship and a hotel restaurant...almost no windows, not very welcoming and it's a bummer staring at all the hungry people waiting in the front...blah

This might be one of the best omelette's I've ever had! Their 3 eggs are a bit small but the flavour of the cheeses they put in the omelette were outstanding.

love love love the homemade hot sauce! and the porridge. not together, obviously. the devon omelette (smoked salmon, shrimp, asparagus, onion, brie) is my favourite, closely followed by the da vinci (wild game chorizo, mushroom, tomato, spinach, feta). i'm usually served by the waiter that looks like pete postlethwaite (!) and he is attentive and lovely.

a friend and i meet for brunch every 6 weeks in this neighbourhood. our favorite place by far is Paul's. I love the vegetable hash but there are a lot of great dishes.

A very simple diner with lots of people for breakfast on a weekend!
Ordered an omelet and french toast (comes with fruit!).
HUGE portions and just overall very very good. I loved how soft the inside of the french toast was. Both my friend and I were so stuffed
after...and it was already close to noon and we hadn't eaten bfast.
Service was good... parking is a bit hard to find (metered on streets).
The place is quite busy though... so get there early! -

We walked in and were seated right away on a busy lunch hour rush. Service was non stop and great. We ordered the veggie hash, and the Zimmer, and shared. I liked the Zimmer better (poached eggs on rye with avocado, sprouts and Hollandaise sauce) but my dad liked the veggie hash. Both dishes were delicious and made just the way i wanted them to be.
I hadn't been here in years but i would definitely go back. -

Ah, Paul's. Dear Paul's. I love Paul's!
I have to say, this is probably my very favourite breakfast joint in Vancouver. I absolutely love it. Delicious? Check. Good service? Check. Cheap? Check. Friendly? Check. Comfortable? Check.
Going on a weekend means going early or be prepared for a long wait in line (be prepared for that even if you do go early) - if you're able to go mid-week I definitely recommend it. That being said, they are great for groups and definitely have something to suit everyone's taste. My personal favourites are the oatmeal (dudes, I've never experienced oatmeal like this, it's SO GOOD and SO CHEAP) and the traditional bennie (they use a cheese sauce rather than hollandaise, so it's really not all that traditional, but I love cheese and egg and ham therefore I love it).
The only reason I've docked a star is because the boyfriend, for some ungodly reason, isn't as enthusiastic as I am mostly because we live on the North Shore so it's not exactly close (any place that involves crossing 2 bridges is kind of a pain). It's hard to really blow my mind with breakfast food, but the Da Vinci omelet at Paul's Place blew my mind. The quality of ingredients is excellent, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the location.

Good stuff. Decent breakfast served until 3pm (they're only open until 3pm). Most menu items under $10. My eggs came with potatoes and sausage, and I opted for the "Oktoberfest" sausage over the turkey sausage, and I stand by that decision. Two full breakfasts, a coffee for my sister and a chocolate milk for me came to $26 incl tax and tip.

The. Best. Diner. Coffee. In. Town.
A quick drive over the Granville street bridge from downtown typically gets you rockstar parking right in front of this great breakfast joint.
I don't even know HOW it is that their breakfast diner coffee is so good, but it is. The food is solid and well priced, with the oatmeal (yes, the oatmeal) at the top of the carb list, or the corned beef hash for those looking for some protein.
The staff here is fantastic - Randy (not Paul, which is the name I always want to call him) is quick with the coffee as he runs around welcoming the regulars, and I also love one particular waitress (whose name currently escapes me) as she's a walking display of retro 50's & 60's outfits. I'm about ready to start taking her photo every time I'm there, just to document her understated style.
A great place for a breakfast meeting mid-week, or a breakfast "meeting" if you're just looking to procrastinate ;) -

Yummy brunch place that is pretty reasonably-priced!
Gets packed quickly, but the wait usually isn't too bad - they know how to push through service I guess!
I had an omelette and that is really what you should go for - they're sooo good. The egg is so thin it's almost crepe-like wrapped around the yummy ingredients!

As 1 of 4 hungry nurses after a long night shift, we were all seeking a satisfying breakfast.
Lots of dishes on the menu aside from omelettes: french toast, different varieties of eggs benedict, porridge with fresh berry compote oozing overtop, huevos rancheros... Everything very fresh, including housemade 3 berry jam & local hot sauce which I put all over my omelette it was so delicious. Local photography on the walls which was very cool & the busy, rainy view onto Granville St gave this place a cozy feel. -

Paul's is my current favourite for breakfast, as their menu is diverse and the service is great. The owner, Dino (aka Paul's son), is often there pouring (the great) coffee and is always attentive. When it comes to breakfast, the details always make or break a place for me, as I have "particular" tastes. For example, I hate running out of jam for my toast, but Paul's serves their jam in little cups and you can ask for as many as you desire. Never-ending jam! SWEET (literally and figuratively)! The wait staff are always sure to ask if you would like their homemade hot sauce too, which I appreciate. Other highlights: sourdough AND marble rye, fancy lavatories, and the choice of milk or cream with your coffee.
Paul's is on the borderline of being pricey. Vancouver restaurants believe that breakfast must be on equal standing with the other meals of the day in terms of quality, complexity and price. Due to this pretentious and unworldly practice, it is very difficult to score a decent breakfast for under $8.00. What ever happened to the $2.99 bacon n' eggs? Where did the classic 2-2-2 for $6.00 go? Even a visit to America's corporate, not-so-greasy spoon, Denny's, will set you back $10.00 per person. Paul's has some reasonable options; for example, their two-egg breakfast is $5.00 and their satisfying breakfast bagel is $6.50. Having said this, their omelettes are all $9.95 and their larger courses are also around the $10.00 mark.
Like an addict, I go out for breakfast often in Vancouver. I just can't resist the temptation of having someone bring me endless coffee, cholesterol-imbued protein, and buttered toast on those uneventful, groggy mornings. Excellent eggs and potatoes. The service was friendly and (for a breakfast place) seemed to take care of the small stuff. For example, the condiment dispensers on the tables were all super-clean. Maybe a trivial detail but how many times have you sat down at a table and seen dirty ketchup & Tabasco bottles? The food itself is spot-on as well; the omelets are stuffed with three kinds of cheese, so even though the eggs are light and fluffy the filling is warm and ooey-gooey. I'd give it a 4.5 if Yelp would let me.

Nicer than your average greasy-spoon, this is a fine neighbourhood all-day breakfast spot. It's bright, the coffee is sufficiently strong and they have a big menu to choose from.
Although it's an omelettery, I don't think the omelettes offer the best value or the best meal in the place. They're served with toast and you have to order potatoes or fruit as an additional side. They're tasty and have some creative ingredients, but my crowd was still hungry after cleaning the plate.
For a more filling brunch, try the veggie hash or eggs benny. Make sure to ask for their special hot sauce, it's got a nice flavour in addition to being infernal.

Goodness, gracious- great eggs on fire!
Paul, where have you been all of my life, and WHY isn't it in my kitchen?
The prices here are by far the best that I've seen around Vancity (save for Bon's, but the food here is better) and I found the menu to be surprisingly diverse.
The door does no justice to what lies inside; it's as if you were in a scene of Alice in Wonderland where you walk through this average sized door into the ENORMOUS breakfast pad. I quite appreciate the spacey table seating where I don't feel as if the person eating next to me is an inch away from my face.
Both of our platters, despite one being a sweet breakfast and the other being a salty breakfast, were absolutely scrumptious. The presentation was lovely and the Chef came out and served it himself- now THAT'S service.
I shall definitely frequent this establishment now that I am well aware of its existence.
Recommended breaky: as the name says it all, I would go with any omelet of your choice- get it with cheese if thou art not lactose intolerant.
Score: peace out, real world- I'm sticking to Wonderland. -

One of the best breakfasts/brunches I've had, period. Paul's serves up a variety of delicious dishes, including, of course, their signature omelettes; you can choose from a number of different types, or create your own. The toast is really good too, especially with a healthy dose of their jam (blackberry or blueberry or something... who cares, it's delicious!). To top it all off, most dishes are pretty cheap, just below or at the $10 range.
Service is attentive, but the place fills up fast, especially on weekends; you can expect waits if you arrive too late. -

Popped in for a pre-game breakfast this morning. The place was rocking with people, the food was satisfying, the service prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere one of overall good cheer.
I had the one egg breakfast which was comparable in size and price to what you'd get in an average Denny's breakfast although the potatoes were much fresher and less greasy and the multigrain toast was nicely grainy.
My partner opted for the french toast which was sizable in portion and came with plenty of fruit compote and whipped cream and a large bowl of freshly cut fruit. He commented that the toast could have had more custard but I didn't taste it myself so can't complain.
We never reached the bottom of our coffee mug as the server promptly offered refills before we had a chance to ask - no small task in the full establishment.
Overall, a pleasant experience - one we are sure to repeat. -

Paul's Place was on of the first places I visited when touched down in Vancouver. The dining room is not the biggest, so try to arrive here early as it gets packed. We didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to be seated, considering this was on a Saturday morning I didn't mind at all. Randy, our waiter was attentive to fill our mugs full of caffeine. I'm not even a coffee fan and I found myself drinking a few loads. The taste is very smooth, unlike what I usually sample in So. California. I have a feeling the higher quality water had to do something with this.
Onward to my main dish, I wanted to get a local feel of the food so I opted for the Montreal Corned Beef Hash. Compared to typical mashed up corned beef, they cut the corned beef into fine 1-inch strips. The result, much more flavor from the beef and a much fresher taste. The plate was complete, I did not feel bloated and they did a good job on the combination of ingredients.
Next time I come back to Vancouver, I plan on returning to Paul's Place to try their other entrees. Along with other local places in BC, I notice the portions are a tad smaller than their U.S. counterparts. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, Paul's menu is very through if you're looking for a nice breakfast selection.
