Get yourself out here if you live in Kingston and have eaten at the gamut of Vietnamese/Thai restaurants on Princess. As Mark C has noted, Pat is sort of a piece of Kingston restaurant folklore as he's founded/headed up a bunch of different places in the downtown area.

However, you must schelp out on Division St to Pat's to get the real deal. And super cheap! Last time I went I had a gut busting green curry. Delicious.

A friend mention this place. And, We often stop at Kingston between Montreal and Toronto. So, we decide to try it on our drive back to Montreal for the holidays. It's pretty yummy. We had the pad Thai and shrimp curry. Lots of shrimp. My husband complaint that the pad Thai is not sweet enough but I thought it was ok.

Pat is back! He's the "originator" of Cambodian food in Kingston. It's remarkable that there are so many Cambodian restaurants (and excellent ones at that) in a place as small as Kingston, but once you taste Pat's food you will understand how that came to be. Wok-In was the first place he opened. Cambodiana was the most recent before Pat's, and there were a few others in between. Pat ran (and was the chef at) each of these restaurants,  then each establishment was sold to others (who have continued to serve up good, for the most part, Cambodian/Thai fare). But there is nothing like the original thing.

What distinguishes Pat's dishes from the other very good Cambodian/Thai places in town? Great depth of flavour in the curries. Quality ingredients and he doesn't shy away from adding the interesting supporting elements (e.g. green curry chicken has lots of eggplant compared to other places which skimp on that and serve it a little heavy on the bamboo shoots). The spiciness/heat level is very high in some dishes and that's a plus for me. They always warn customers -- even regulars -- who order the #18 (green curry chicken), the #6 golden chicken, #12 Thai curry, or Soup E (sour green curry soup) that they are getting a very spicy dish; so if you weren't looking for super hot, you will be alerted. There are milder dishes available and I'm sure they are great too. Extremely popular is the #4 (rice noodle vermicelli with spring rolls) -- all Vietnamese/Thai/Cambodian places in Kingston have a dish like this and it has become a staple dish for Kingstonians.

I really missed the food when Pat sold Cambodiana. He was out of the scene for a couple of years and now that he is back, I'm sure to be a regular (weekly) customer. The location isn't as convenient as his former Downtown Kingston restaurants but when I was at Pat's just yesterday for lunch, the place was full so he doesn't seem to be hurting from being away from Downtown.
