I like their almond croissants best of any in the city, including the double-baked almond croissants from Thomas Haas (and they are about half the price). The croissants are covered in almond slivers, and stuffed with a custard that is perfectly almondy without being too sweet.
Lots of other goodies, too, such as cakes, chocolates, and dozens of different pastries and other desserts. And if you need canned chestnut puree or Maldon sea salt, this is the place. -

The closest French bakery to my home.
The location is a bit odd, as other Yelpers noted. It is in a small corner strip mall with a 7-Eleven, a falafel joint, and a pet store.
They make a variety of cakes and pastries, and they are all very good. -

Patisserie Bordeaux certainly has the best croissants that I have had in Vancouver. They are flaky and airy, buttery and subtly sweet without heaviness or being oily.
The pain au chocolat when it is still warm so that the chocolate inside is still soft...... bliss. I enjoy a stronger almond flavor so I choose their Feuillettes aux amandes over the almond croissant, although both are absolutely delicious. I have also sampled their rum balls which to me are as good as the ones my Mom makes at Christmas time, high praise indeed.
Although I appreciate the proximity of this fabulous patisserie, the parking lot is heinous. The lot is only about a dozen spots and is shared by a 7-11, a falafel joint, a pet store and Brown's Social House. My other issue is that they do not take credit cards which is sometimes inconvenient when one is making a large purchase or buying cakes. -

Mark D.'s first review is two years old, but it could have been written fifteen years ago, when I used to go regularly for croissant, almond horns and magnificent cakes, or last week, when the same high quality baked goods and helpful service are still offered.
And Chloe's description is apt: it's odd to find a "Granville Island" bakery in a suburban mini-mall. The fact that Patisserie Bordeaux has survived this long at that location is a testament to the quality of their pastries, a secret to Point Grey students and matrons that should be known more widely.
I'll give it my highest recommendations: coming from Gibsons, I'll make a detour to Patisserie Bordeaux simply to bring back their croissants. Regrettably, the direction conflicts with that of the Polish deli (Hastings and Nanaimo) where I get sausages, the Italian deli next door where I fetch olives and cheeses, and the Portuguese bakery where I get fresh buns. -

A plethora of tasty of pastries to choose from that are reasonably priced.
Best patisserie in kits in my amateur opinion! -

The pastries here are beautiful and the staff helpful. I like to pick up a few treats for a weekend brunch and most often chose the chocolate eclairs, but have also tried the fresh croissants and the meringues.
The store sits in an entirely odd location: two doors away from the Seven-11, next to a fast food falafel spot, and across the street from a gas station. Not where I'd expect to find fine French pastry, but I'm happy I did. -

Offers a nice selection of French style pastry and cakes. My favourites are the croissant aux amandes (almond croissant) and pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant). They aren't shy with the amount of butter they use in the croissant (as they shouldn't be), and the result is a lovely flakiness and crispness filled with a creamy almond goodness or a nice dark chocolate. These are my favourite croissants in Vancouver.
