In the hunt for home-made pasta and fresh sauces made from scratch, my favorite place to be spoiled is Pasta Polo. Now those who have been before know what I'm talking about. Large portion sizes, warm atmosphere, and the best salsa-style brushcetta appetizer made from scratch. Their fresh egg pasta is made in house daily with organic durum wheat in traditional Italian style.
Walking in the door you are met with walls covered in thank you cards and recognition from local sports teams and organizations. They clearly take a lot of pride involving themselves in their local community. A large glass display case holds their amazing desserts laid out to tempt you.
On Wednesdays, Pasta Polo has bottles of wine to compliment your meal at liquor store prices. They also let you cork your leftover wine for a glass at home later that night.
My partner in crime orders his favorite, the Baked Manicotti ($14.95) Filled with spinach, roasted garlic and three different cheeses. Drowned in tomato herb sauce and topped with melted cheese. Quite simply put...a vegetarian pasta bliss.
You'll be so thankful that this dish comes with 2 servings of Manicotti, because one will not be enough. The filling is a perfect blend and packs a ton of flavor while being one of the healthiest pastas on the menu.
My choice and by far one of my favorite comfort foods is the Baked Chicken Penne ($16.95) The serving size is huge and the aroma of fresh mushrooms and garlic entice you the moment the plate hits your table. Topped with fresh cracked pepper and grated cheese this dish is so divine. The cream sauce is complimented by sun dried tomato and basil and comes off as rich and creamy without being too heavy. An essential difference for a winning pasta sauce. This serving is usually at least 3 servings for me. Giving you a great leftover lunch the next day.
Being a self proclaimed chocoholic, I pride myself on finding the best chocolate desserts and creations wherever I go. Pasta Polo's dessert menu features multiple options to tempt you. I have tried a few of them but I always go back to the Belgian Chocolate Mousse Cake ($5.95) With a cake bottom and a fluffy mouse made from rich Belgian chocolate, it is smooth and melts in your mouth.
With all that a restaurant can offer it's community it is amazing to me to see one as involved and concerned. Pasta Polo has found a perfect balance of fresh ingredients, excellent food, and an atmosphere for either a romantic date or a family dinner. -

I don't really understand the low reviews for this place. If you're expecting fine dining, go downtown. If you're on a hot first date, go downtown.
If you want good food and good portions, in a casual comfortable setting, come here.
I work nearby and eat here quite often. I usually get the baked manicotti and caesar salad. I think they use organic flower and make all the pasta in-house. Also, the banoffi pie for dessert is amazing.
I think it's the best dinner option in Coquitlam which is overrun by awful chain restaurants. -

Don't be fooled by the look of the restaurant. The dishes are absolutely delicious and they carry the best wine on the menu. The price is reasonable and portions are huge. I love the fact that the staff are friendly and quite attentive. One of my favorite pasta places in Coquitlam.

For Coquitlam, it'll do in a pinch. For my taste buds, it's okay. To my parents, it's the bomb!
I hadn't been to Pasta Polo for ages, swearing up and down and side to side that I'd never go again due to the fact that I thought the pasta didn't really taste homemade.
But on a recent visit to my parents house, we decided to get take out. The whole wheat linguini was way past overcooked but I liked that you could choose what kind of pasta you wanted. I ordered the eggplant sauce, and enjoyed the roasted garlic, the eggplant and the feta. The cooked tomatoes and peppers were overdone and lifeless, and if you know how I feel about overcooked tomatoes you'd understand my disdain. I didn't eat any of them. Overall, for $14, I thought it was overpriced and that the pasta to sauce ratio was way off. More eggplant was definitely needed to make this a worthwhile dish.
Also had a few bites of their tiramisu - not too shabby - definitely better than I could make, but I have definitely had better... once even from a grocery store freezer. -

Went here with my boyfriend for a late lunch/early dinner at about 4pm. It was almost empty, except for one other table, it picked up a bit a little later into our meal.
I like the atmosphere and the mood of this place. It's clean and relaxing, nice decorations. We were greeted as soon as we got in and was settled at a booth. The service was nice and the waiter came back to ask about our food and refilled our water without asking. Unfortunately we couldn't order from the lunch menu (it stops at 4, right when we were about to place our orders) so we chose from the dinner menu. We just got entrees, no appetizers or desserts.
I forgot what my boyfriend had..something with chicken on pasta. I had the eggplant one on pasta. It was okay, I liked the cheese topping on the eggplant a lot, but the actual eggplant kind of left an odd bitter taste in my mouth. The actual pasta was decent, but the tomato sauce that they used was kind of sour for me but still edible.
Overall, the value was okay and they give you a decent portioned meal. But I wouldn't come back for their pasta, it was only okay and plus I live in East Vancouver. My current favourite pasta joint would be the Well on Main (next to Bo Kong), fabulous food and decent prices. -

Far too many frozen items to make this a good place to eat, wine list best suited for trailerpark tire fire outtings. The two stars really is for their off shoot eatery and grocery coffee shop- in POMO (which deserved 5 stars) which is now gone- the chefs (I believe have returned to Polo) they created something great - unfortunately there are too many people who believe KD is true Italian fare.
