Review from Katy H.
It's not often I get to stay at resort destinations and to be honest, I wasn't thinking that Victoria or even the Parkside would be so drop dead gorgeous. I love Canada and have been to various cities/provinces but cute, quaint Victoria really surprised me!
Not knowing what to expect I was really quite pleased when my cab pulled up to this mod, centrally located building. In fact, I remember approaching it and admiring it before realizing it was my hotel! The combo-living space where the towers are split between rented hotel rooms and vacation condos is really unique. Additionally, the koi ponds, live plants and tall ceilings really make the transition of the spaces quite luxurious and beautiful.
Throw in the enormous ozonated pool, the jacuzzi, the rooftop garden, the views, the salon/spa onsite, the FREE iPad station for checking emails/using the Yelp app, the on-site restaurant, the friendly concierge, and various other amenities and how could you NOT enjoy your stay in Victoria?
Oh yeah. The rooms! The real clincher (if I haven't somehow won you over already) is the rooms. Floor to ceiling windows and glass doors, patios, full kitchens, en-suite laundry, claw foot tubs, heated bathroom floors, fireplaces, flat screens, cozy beds and FREE bottled water in the fridge? You'd be a fool not to stay at the Parkside! -

We've stayed at the Empress, in Victoria, before, and enjoyed the first class service and history of the beautiful building. The Parkside Victoria is a great counterpart. We purchased through Expedia and got a fantastic off-season deal on a modern comfortable room.
We love the coffee shop and bar downstairs, and I had the opportunity to watch the Canucks playoff game on the giant screen in the private 24 -seat movie cinema.
The parkside is walking distance to shopping, great pubs, museums, Parliment and the beautiful inner harbor.
We'll be back. -

Great space and very good service. If you're planning to stay here for a weekend, leave the car behind. You can easily walk here from the ferry, and then set out on foot or cab to explore downtown Victoria. The rooms are well-appointed but ONE major flaw is that the walls seem to be quite thin. We're not a noisy couple and thankfully neither were the people in the suite next door, but your stay could be made or broken by this fact.
Suites are connected by a set of two doors which could be unlocked if you were renting two places, but not enough has been done to isolate the noise between them when the units are rented by two separate parties. We could hear the conversation next door as if it were being held in the same room. Yikes. By comparison the last Marriott we stayed at was a veritable bank vault: something you don't notice until it is absent.
Don't let that deter you though. The Parkside is very nice. The neighborhood is quiet, and the cafe downstairs, Tre Fantastico, is a great feature. You can order food until 10PM and the beer and coffee flows all day. There is a street entrance for the cafe so if you're staying elsewhere you can enjoy the space and the great drinks. Dinner menu looked appealing though we did not eat there.
Desk staff at the Parkside was very friendly, and were quick to offer advice and assistance in advance of our arrival. I was happy to learn that there is free bike storage in the lobby, which we would have taken advantage of if the forecast had been more accommodating. Also we were able to store our luggage for free for a few hours after check-out so we could roam around downtown before the ferry ride back to Washington. -

Hotel:
Stayed for a weekend with my husband and another friend, shared a suite and attended a local hockey game over Halloween weekend last fall. The weather was gross and drizzly, exactly what we expected for a fall weekend in BC. The hotel was very beautiful and impressive upon entrance, and the room was nice and modern and clean with a full kitchen. I loved the bathrooms and the beautful standing tub in the master, but the shower was in the other bathroom around the suite by the kitchen. The bathroom didn't have a door so if you were taking a bath and the bedroom door were opened, you could pretty easily show off some goods to the rooms across the courtyard.
Overall, the hotel was very nice and clean and new, but we were a little meh on the overall quality of the service. We had trouble calling for a cab, and the spa experience left something to be desired.
Spa:
We had bought a vacation package through a travel website that included two nights in the suite plus an advertised $200 spa treatment, so I booked one that described a facial, massage, masque and pedicure for a 4 hour treatment. I thought it sounded too good to be true, and sure enough it was. When I arrived for my appointment, they weren't sure how to apply my package voucher, and when I asked what services I was scheduled for, it sounded completely different than advertised. She said no massage, no masque, just a facial and pedicure. I was bummed out, expecting a whole day of beauty treatments. Later, the spa therapist explained that the "marketing department" had put together a package on the website that they didn't even know about... and weren't prepared to offer me. I was pretty annoyed, and when she could tell I wasn't happy with what I was going to get for $200, she re-arranged my schedule to include a back mud masque and a facial+makeup application for an additional $30. The treatments I received were excellent and relaxing, and my skin was very happy with all the pampering. The "makeup application" ended up only being a tinted moisturizer, powder, mascara and lip gloss. At the end, they brought a "gift basket" of all the products they had used on me and showed how much they would cost to buy, which was ridiculously marked up.
If I go back to Parkside, I will skip the spa. -

Okay, time someone on Yelp takes it down a notch on this place.
It's nice, in fact, very nice for the price. We got a deal on a website, and then got the price knocked down even more after I saw a deal on Groupon or something.
Everything seems very nice and modern in the hotel, just as it appears. Staff was nice (although, I'm not the demanding type, so I didn't deal with them much). The heated tile in the bathroom was nice, the bed was comfortable and all the amenities (kitchen, living area, iPad bar, etc.) were good.
But, I thought the walls were pretty thin in this hotel and found the noise to be a put-off. It was fine at night, but in the mornings and afternnoons it was annoying. I expect that in mid-to-low-end hotels, but not in a "resort".
Also, I'm guessing this has something to do with their "LEED" heating system, but, the heat register in our room was making this awful noise in the mornings, it sounded like someone showering right next to us. We initially thought that it was plumbing in the walls, but when I tried to locate the source of the sound, I put my ear next to the heat register and that's exactly where the noise was coming from.
Also, I found a cluster of hairs from the previous hotel guests in our bathroom, which makes me wonder how thoroughly the room was cleaned.
Oh, also, the "fireplaces", at least in our room, were just the fake electric ones. Which is OK, but a little disappointing when you're expecting a nice gas fireplace. Electric fireplaces are just heaters with a light-show. When I heard "fireplaces" in the description, that was a major selling-point for me, because I enjoy a good fire, so that was a bit of a disappointment.
Overall, though, this is a pretty nice place and I think it's OK if you get a good deal, but I did not find it to be "luxurious" and resort-like, as you' may be lead to believe -

Parkside is Victoria's newest resort hotel, located in the absolute best area in the Inner Harbour. Parkside consists of two towers connected via a 3 story atrium complete with gardens and a patio lounge.
Reasons why Parkside rocks my socks:
* Restaurant & lounge at the resort so no need to leave to eat
* European style spa to get your treatment on site (albeit pricey)
* Rooftop patio and garden areas to relax and enjoy
* An ozonated 25 meter indoor pool, large hot tub jacuzzi, locker room & showers
* Private movie theatre with select shows during the week
* 24 hr concierge service and attentive staff members
* Fitness center
* Free wireless internet
* Prompt cleaning and room service
Upon my arrival, I found that room was equipped with a washer and dryer that was labeled "out of order". I called the front desk to report this and they offered to have my clothes washed for free; I just needed to drop them off! The room's kitchen had granite countertops, a gas cooktop, and a stainless steel refrigerator. The bathroom contained a stand up shower, a separate room with a clawfoot tub for soaking, and even HEATED tile flooring!! The bedroom's king size bed provided a super plush mattress and plenty of closet space for storage. The modern designed living room had leather furniture and thoughtful decorations with a 42" LCD TV mounted above the automatic, remote controlled fireplace. Right next to that there is a door leading out to the nice sized balcony with table and chairs so that I can enjoy the crisp air and sunshine.
If you are wondering about the accommodations, there are a few different options. Deluxe and Luxury (up to 4 guests) and a two Bed Suite version of the Deluxe and Luxury (up to 8 guests). Prices vary from low $200 to $400s but you may be able to get a great steal of a deal on http://www.hotwire.com or other comparable sites.
Cons: 1) If you need to park in the garage = $15 per day. The cost varies on how long you are staying from what I understand so could be cheaper. I parked on the street with no issues; just be sure to check the street signs so you won't be towed or ticketed. 2) $49 cleaning fee (unavoidable so budget for this).
Five stars is in order despite the cons stated above. Arguably (as long as you don't argue with me) the best modern resort in the city of Victoria, BC.Listed in: Things to do in/near Victoria,…

I have stayed in many hotels all over this great planet of ours, but this particular resort hotel is memorable. Even if you live in this city or are staying elsewhere, I recommend you simply stop-in to see the gardens and Atrium.
A few things I take into consideration when rating a hotel:
- Helpful staff
- Hotel amenities
- Room comfort/cleanliness
- Proximity to tourist sites
I have to give Parkside 5 Stars for all of the above.
The staff are cordial, attentive and constantly smiling.
The amenities are abundant- with an iPad bar to plan your sight-seeing, ozonated (ie. much fewer chemicals) swimming pool, hot-tub and gym for your health-kick, coffee shop and spa on-site, gardens, stunning atrium, and (get this) a movie theatre!
I also love that it's on track for platinum LEED certification (Leader in Energy & Environmental Design); anything eco-friendly is awesome in my books. I believe they give building tours, sadly my schedule was full- next time though. -

My SO and I stayed here for a last minute weekender. As this building is mostly timeshare/condos, the facilities were amazing!! A large pool and hot tub, roof gardens, amazing rooms with balconies, gas fire places, full kitchens and in-suite laundry, and living rooms! It felt like I was staying in a condo. We wanted to stay another night, but had to get back to Vancouver. Next time.... next time...

Simply incredible. Perfect location, easy walk from everything. Beautifully appointed suite complete with stunning views. Great cafe downstairs. Whole hotel is very clean. Great service, although a little less polished than we expected. Movie theatre room is a great amenity--we watched a Canucks game in there with other residents/guests (everyone seemed to have a to go mug full of wine/beer, too!). We had a lovely time, and we will most definitely be back.

Fabulous stay over Canada Day Weekend! We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with a nicely furnished living room and kitchen. The hotel's lobby, pool and gardens are lovely! The walk to the middle of inner harbor takes only a couple of minutes. The hotel opened the eighth floor to all the hotel guests on July 1st so everyone could enjoy the fireworks from the rooftop. We watched the display while smelling the lavendar from the rooftop gardens! Perfect! The small cafe/ bar in the lobby is also quite nice. I recommend this condo style hotel wholeheartedly!!! :-)

as I save my 5 stars for special things... this is seriously a 5 star experience.
I got a smokin' deal on this place through http://hotwire.com and came here with the family. OMG.
Front desk guy addressed us by our names all weekend.... the pool is HUGE and amazing, the lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are all suites with patios, and the most incredible modern decor.
Think Hyatt but brighter and bigger rooms and the service is as good.
The cafe downstairs has good opening hours and great prices, but we didn't get a chance to eat there, but the menu looked really cool.
They have a small movie theatre in the hotel, and there are movies every night. Parking is underground secured, and the grounds are exquisite.
You can walk to anything you want to do while in downtown Victoria.
I am ONLY staying here when I travel to Victoria. Forever... that's it... I have found my home away from home.
Check out the photos - see what I mean??? -

We had a great stay at the Parkside! My husband and I went up to visit my mother for a long weekend, and we could not have been happier with our stay at the Parkside. The room was spacious and beautiful. The location was perfect. We had great weather and loved sitting out on the garden sun deck to read and took a swim in the huge pool.
The best part of our stay was the wonderful service provided by Nathan at the front desk. Our clipper ride back to Seattle was not until 6pm on Monday, but with check out at 11am we would have been stranded for an uncomfortably long time without a room. Nathan was gracious enough to work with the housekeeping staff so that our checkout was flexible, and we were able to stay until 5pm! This made the difference between a fine and great trip to Victoria for us, and I am so pleased Nathan and the Parkside staff cared enough to help us out.
We will definitely be staying here on our next trip up to Victoria! -

Went here for our 13 th Anniversary and it was absolutely stunning! They even surprised us with a wonderful bottle of Red :) It has everything you'd want and need including an ozonated pool, hot tub, theatre, fitness centre. 5 Star Resort!
