    Wow. What a meal.

Came here for a birthday dinner during "Dine Around Victoria" and was absolutely blown away by my 3 course dinner. Every element of this quaint little restaurant is understated and refined. From their elegant decor to their friendly attentive service, this little bistro hits it out of the park.

My meal began with a wonderfully smooth and flavorful butternut squash and apple soup, garnished with walnuts which gave it a pleasant crunch. Next, the main course which was absolutely stunning, was a medium rare onlet (sliced) angus steak, atop a bed of braised kale and mouthwatering blue cheese mashed potatoes. Everything blended immaculately with each other and was tied together with a rich red wine sauce. I have actually thought about the meal for weeks since I enjoyed it it was that good.

For desert I had the creme brule with house made chocolate biscotti to accompany which was the perfect finish to an already ace of a meal.

Paprika has a wonderful thing going and I await my next visit with baited breath and watering mouth.

Paprika Bistro is the perfect choice for an intimate dinner out.  The look of the restaurant has an artistic flair, with lots of yellow and red in the design choices for the walls and furniture.  The staff are courteous, experienced and well-spoken.
The menu is very well thought out, combining ingredients that compliment each other while still being adventurous.

I started my meal with the Ploughman's Plate which consists of chicken liver parfait, an assortment of cheeses, condiments, and duck and walnut sausage.  The liver parfait was so good, I felt like I was in a little happy place each time I took a bite.

My entree was an Onglet steak, served with a mushroom and onion galette, blue cheese butter and sauteed greens.  The dish as a whole worked so well because the flavours were subtle and cooperative.

For dessert, I ordered a Chocolat Royale which came with chantilly cream and some sort of brittle.  I am pretty sure the chocolate mousse cake deserves some sort of award.  Spectacular.

I was very happy with my experience dining at Paprika Bistro and I'll certainly return for more.

Cute little restaurant with fancy yet relaxed atmosphere.  I found this place in Frommer's Vancouver/Victoria travel book, and it was listed as "Eastern European."

Food was tasty and creative.  Check out the pictures to see what we ate!  I ordered their one of their specials of the evening: duck leg and ravioli w/ swiss chard.  (That's just my description.  The real name of the dish sounded much fancier and appetizing!)  I really liked it.  The duck was a little more on the dry side to my liking, but the sauce made up for it.  I'm a fan of creamy sauces and filled pasta, so it hit the spot.  There were enough veggies to make me think I was eating a semi-healthy well balanced meal.

My family was a huge fan of their creme brulee, saying it was the best they've ever had!  Their homemade ice cream was yummy too.  Big chunks of strawberries and it even had a hint of alcohol.  Maybe rum??

I'd recommend this place for a nice intimate meal.

Superb service, very homey, interesting decore.

The wine by the glass was limited, but pretty good. Nice choices.

Starters, calamari superb, beef also superb.

The mains, we had pork on spinach and mashed potatoes - superb

Value for money - pretty good really.

    I would recommend a visit.

Could utilize space differently, for example the outdoor eating area could be better used

Quiet and unassuming, this bistro is tucked away in quaint Estavan Village in Oak Bay. The village area is unfortunately totally dead at night so unless you know to make Paprika your dining destination, it's not likely going to be something you'll stumble upon otherwise.
Go early! I know, I rarely say this but the pre 6pm tasting menu is divine and at a price point that we don't see often. The wine pairings are well thought out and the service is very good.
Given the quiet romantic atmosphere this is a great place to converse and be able and hear other people around and table. It's a great date spot or somewhere to bring a very small party of people. I would not suggest it as a location to bring your friend who doesn't have an inside voice or a baby discovering their vocal chords.

We can't recommend Paprika Bistro enough. My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Victoria and our innkeepers at the beautiful Abbeymoore B&B suggested to us Paprika and we're so glad we went.

While there's no fancy schmancy, pie in the sky culinary experiments, what Paprika does, and does very very well, is to cook with top notch local ingredients, step back, and let 'em shine. I had an order of the beef tartare and an order of clams, and they were both equally delicious. Main course was Beef Onglet, and it was unlike any other steak I've had-- it was a flavourful cut of meat (chewier than your tenderloin), and it comes with a red wine/beef jus reduction that will absolutely tempt you to lick your plate clean. I certainly was, but common decency held me back.

My girlfriend, meanwhile, requested a vegetarian main dish, and they were more than happy to accommodate. Basically they asked for what she like and didn't like, and fixed something up especially for her. It was a local vegetable caponata that bursted with flavour. And common decency be damned for her, she licked the plate clean.

Basically, what they do is simple, honest, good food. At first glance the menu might not knock your socks off, but bite into one of their dishes and you'll know what I'm talking about.

(PS. Try the creme brulee-- we're not creme brulee people and we adored it.)
