Although the bread and butter of Papa's Pizza is selling by-the-slice pizza to hungry passersby on Main St, they do offer whole pizza takeout (although not delivery). Where else in Vancouver can you have the following telephone conversation to order a pizza?

    "Papa's Pizza."
"Hi there, I'd like to order a large spinach & feta pizza on whole wheat crust."
    "Okay, bye."

No name, no phone number number, no details whatsoever asked. The first time I ordered from Papa's, I was sure there would be no pizza ready for me when I arrived. I didn't know what time to come, since I wasn't told how long it would take. I guessed about 15 minutes.

I arrived 15 minutes later, and much to my relief and delight there was a piping hot pizza waiting for me. I have ordered at least 2 dozen pizzas from there since, and I have come to adore the 10-second phone ordering. I don't have to call into some central call centre where I'm placed in a queue, or tell them what city I'm in, which location I want, etc.

The pizzas are always fresh and reasonably priced. I think all large vegetarian pizzas are $15, which is cheaper than most places. It's probably not the best pizza in Vancouver, but it always hits the spot for me.

Best spinach pizza in the city. Deliciously crispy crust, and just the right amount of spinach. Though the slices are a bit on the small side, they are only 1.50, which is hard to find in Vancouver.
The staff is incredibly friendly! They are the best. They are always in a good mood, incredibly happy and cheerful.
Though my friend told me she had a bad experience with the poutine here once, so I would recommend just sticking to the pizza.

    Breakfast pizza.
    AMAZING.
It's spicy and full of good breakfasty things like sausage and potatoes and peppers. It's just fantastic, you gotta try it.

Also the spinach and feta pizza here is to die for.

I've been coming here for YEARS and it's consistently fantastic.

This place is just down the street from my brother's place so we stopped in for a few slices on a cold Saturday afternoon.  The pizza is not super authentic sicilian thin crust, but it does not presume to be.  This is just really good pizza by the slice for a reasonable price.  I had a slice of the special pizza which a mix of veggies on whole wheat crust that was really nice and a slice of the famous spinach and feta.  The spinach wasn't cooked to death and was only slightly wilted - really nice that way.  We sat at the counter and I saw some kids order poutine and go outside and eat it, and I wanted some poutine but I was too full from the pizza.  I will definitely be trying the poutine next time.  Really friendly folks running Papa's too.

An awesome pizza joint owned by a very nice married couple, and their son and daughter work there as well. Not only do they buy their ingredients locally, but they also come up with the neatest flavor combos.

They are honestly the friendliest people, and love to chat and joke around while you are waiting for your food to be made ( if you get something other than pizza that requires a little wait ). There's also a TV in the place, and often times they will put on a movie for you.

The pizza is great, and that alone would keep me coming back, but the happy family atmosphere is really the thing I love about this place.

Great pizza, no BS. Call in a pie for take out, grab a slice when walking by, it's good stuff. Prices have climbed dramatically in the last couple years, but that's probably got something to do with rent in the neighbourhood skyrocketing. Run by a nice older Greek married couple who air all the hockey games and hang around watching them while getting to know the locals. Seems like a fantastic way to pass the time; maybe when I get there I'll try and buy the business from them.

I've lived in Mount Pleasant for over 15 years, and i'm always there at least once a week buying a couple of slices. The crust is the best i've ever tasted, and the toppings are fresh and delicious.

As mentioned, there are always five staples to the by-the-slice pizza warmer, spinach and feta (often on a whole wheat crust), ham and pineapple, veggie, pepperoni, and a "special" concoction. Trust me, ask what the special is because it's always interesting and delicious. I honestly wish I wasn't a vegetarian sometimes just so I can have the pepperoni pizza again!

I've had items other than pizza here in the past, such as lasagna and poutine. While all are good and cheap, it doesn't get better than the pizza!

The owners have been there for years and are incredibly friendly. You are never going to experience any rudeness here.

It's a small place with maybe 5-6 seats inside, and 6 or so seats outside. Nevertheless, even on super busy nights and lunch hours, you're never going to be waiting too long.

2 of us dined for about $8.99. Getting set up for an event at Heritage Hall, I dived in here for a quick bite. Steaming and gooey pizza, having just come out of the oven and I couldn't be happier. Especially when there was a little place to perch on the patio out front and relax for a few moments. Thank goodness someone closeby had gum...root beer and pizza does not make for the best breath- go figure ;p

There's not much to really say about this place. Papa's is the only pizza joint this end of Main St. The slices were tasty, however a bit on the small side in comparison to other Vancouver pizza joints. If I happen to be in the area and want to get rid of my change, I'll definitely pop in, other than that I wouldn't go outta my way to come here.

When I want cheap tasty pizza by the slice this is where I head to. They're inventive....if you're lucky you'll get there within minutes of a new creation being pulled from the oven. My favorites so far are the Ukrainian Breakfast, Smoked Salmon w/cream cheese, the Philly Cheese-steak and the Greek. I'm giving them my own names but try it out....cozy atmosphere...tables outside....friendly staff and a flat-screen TV for sports fans.

Had a couple of slices here on the way from work to the pool. The slices themselves were small compared with many places, but more irritating still the toppings were as sparse as the hairs on my Papa's head. Maybe I'll give them another chance, just in case it was an off-day, but with Panago just down the road they'll have to buck their ideas up!
